Parkash Singh Badal MLA (Punjabi: ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ) (born December 8, 1927, in Abul Khurana, Punjab, India. He is the child of a Raghuraj Singh and Sundri Kaur of the Jatt sikh Dhillon tribe.[1] He is an Indian politician from the State of Punjab.[1] He is the current Chief Minister of Punjab and former president of the Shiromani Akali Dal.[2] The current political party in power in Punjab.

This is his fourth term as the Chief Minister of Punjab, beginning 1 March, 2007. He entered politics in 1947 and was first elected to Vidhan Sabha in 1957.[1] He was re-elected to Vidhan Sabha in 1969. From 1969-70 he acted as a Minister for Community Development, Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries. He has served Chief Minister of Punjab for three terms previously i.e. 1970-71, 1977-80 and 1997-2002. Also, he has been a Member of Parliament and became Union Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation in the Central Government headed by Morarji Desai. [1]

He has two children, one son and one daughter. His son, Sukhbir Singh Badal,[2] is presently a Member of Parliament and a former union minister and president of SAD. His daughter is married to Adesh Pratap Singh Kairon, scion of the Kairon family, who is the grandson of Pratap Singh Kairon and nephew of former Chief Minister and Governor Harcharan Singh Brar.[1]
