After being separated from Guru Gobind Singh Ji, his two elder sons and 40 sikhs, Mata Gujari and her younger grandsons Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh were brought by Gangu, their former Brahmin cook to his home in the village of Saheri. It was here that the cook betrayed Mata Gujari Ji and her Grandsons after he attempted to steal some jewelry he had seen in Mata Gujari's bag. It is said that she caught him about to take the items; ashamed and angered he soon turned them in to the authorities at Morinda, Jani Khan and Mani Khan hoping for a reward.

Gurdwara Shahid Ganj, on the south-western fringes of Morinda, marks the place where the Guru's mother and youngest sons kept on the night of December 7-8 as the formalities of paperwork, needed for sending them to Sirhind, were completed. It is believed that the Mughals were forcing the elderly grandmother and the young Sahibzadas to walk to Sirhind. Seeing this a gentleman from Nasalpur could not bear the site, so he went to his home and returned with a rath. Using his influence with the Mughals, Mataji and the Sahibzadas, were carried on that rath to Sirhind.
