The capital of the former princely state, Patiala has a magnificent historical shrine, Gurudwara Dukh Niwaran. It is built on the spot graced by ninth Guru Sri Tegh Bahadurji. The Gurudwara stands adjoining a tank, where a dip is considered must by devoted pilgrims. Another Gurudwara having historical background is called Gurudwara Motibagh. It is partly designed like the "Sheesh Mahal' and has some fine miniatures.
