Gurdwara Toka Sahib

Gurudwara Toka Sahib, established in honour of Guru Gobind Singh, who stayed here for a few days in 1688, is on the border of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.

History

According to another slab (inscribed only in 1968), Guru Gobind Singh came here with 2200 horsemen on 4 Baisakh 1742 Bk/ 1 April 1685 to help Raja Medini Prakash of Nahan. According to Gurushabad Ratanakar Mahan Kosh and Twarikh Guru Khalsa, however, Guru Gobind Singh halted here on his way back from Paonta to Anandpur in 1688.

Darbar Sahib

The Gurdwara wass a modest flat Roofed room, with an all round verandah. Firstly, there was a hut of a Nihang which tooe care of shrine. Now there is a big hall as Toka Sahib management trust was made which controls the ceremonies & working of gurdwaras. There is a huge congregation on days related to Guru Gobind Singh & other gurus too. The sangat comes here from far away full of trucks, Tractors, Vans. After Crossing Roon River this shrine comes. The darbar Sahib is made on the foothill.

Bhora Sahib

There is a sacred bhora Sahib related top Guru Gobind Singh.

Mango Tree

There is old sacred mango tree present behind darbar sahib. It is said after eating mango when guru jee throw the seed that seed became mangoe plant and now tree is there established.

Kangha Sahib

This is an another Gurdwara which is few meters above small hill comes under boundry of Gurudwara Toka Shaib. It was said taht Guru gobind Singh jee after bathing in rivulet combs his hairs. There is a foot road made to go there.

Neem Tree

The Sactred Neem tree is present there which is of Gurus time it is also said while brushing with neem tig gurujee when throw the tig away in soil. The tig became a Neem tree.

Old Well

There is an old well here which, according to an inscription, was dug in 1823 "in memory of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Nawab Fateh Singh Ahluwalia."

Now there is Sarovar Sahib, Langar hall, Gobar Gas Plant and road(from ferozpur) made under the tenure of Captain Fateh Singh.

Location

The Gurdwara is in Sirmur district of Himachal Pradesh, but the nearest village Tota, about one kilometre to the southeast, is in Ambala district of Haryana. From mianpur you have to travel in river called Roon to reach there. It is some 20 Km's from Naraingarh.
