Gurdwara Baba Jaani Shah

Gurdwara Baba Jaani Shah is situated in Sri Hargobindpur Town, along with Gurdwara Damdama Sahib.

Sayyed Jaani Shah deserted his family in hopes of find his way closer to god. He smeared himself with the ashes of a faqir and was Bhatking at the break of day and as the sun disappeared in the west. He tried everything; praying to the gods of the Hindus and Islam, did his five namazs daily, but in all his seeking he got nothing.

He was told about Guru Nanak's house by someone, what he heard of the Guru filled his heart with happiness so he traveled to meet with Khawaja (the sewadar of the Guru's Ghorhas). After he told Khawaja of his relentless search for God, Khawaja told him to pray before guru sitting on his dwar. Listening Jaani Shah went and sat at the guru's dwaar. He prayed for guru, guru send a sikh to jaani and asked him if he want money, clothes etc take it, but jaani denied and said " Jaani ko Jaani Mila de. Guru ji rose a wall to test the jaani and said his sikhs if jaani want to meet jaani(god) tell him go n jump n river beas. jaani was told this by a sikh, after hearing that jaani ran towards beas river. Guru Send bhai bidhi chand after it and called him back. Guru Hargobind Hugged him and he met with the true lord and Guru Sahib blessed him if anyne comes to his place and mannata poorieyaan hongiyaan.
