Ten Sikh Gurus

I am afraid you have been timed-out for 1 week. You may think that displaying a picture of the Gurus is anti-Gurmat but just thinking that does not give you the right to remove the picture. Apart from not conforming to the style guidelines laid down for SikhiWiki, you have now taken a step that is just going too far.

We are not worshipping the pictures or giving them some special importance. They are there as a visual tool - as they say "a picture is worth a 1000 words!"

Please review your actions for 1 week and I hope you use this period to ponder this point in great detail. Sorry, for the time-out ruling but we cannot allow this type of constant non-compliance with such simple and liberal rules. Regards, Hari Singh^talk 19:30, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Khalsa

I have reverted the changes on this article as they do not live up to the standards now expected at SikhiWiki. Any changes must improve the standard that we have already achieved and not drop those standards.

The text from the article is copied below:

"Khalsa which means 'Truthfull & Pure' is the name initially given by Nanak to Sikhs. The term used by him for it however was 'Sachiaara'from SatGurBani Language (and Punjabi as well, which is live & green even Today) Language.

10th Nanak Guru Gobind Singh , about 200 years thereafter used the popular word Khalsa (a synonimous of Nanak's 'Sachiara') of his time to popularise it in martial terms under chaotic war torn environment.

The socio-political 'Order of Khalsa' was thus initiated by Nanak (to be more precise by Kabeer)10th Nanak has expresssed his gratitudes to Kabeer in his following words

The word "Khalsa" is derived from Arabic khalis (literally meaning "pure" or "unsullied") and Perso-Arabic khalisah (literally pure; office of revenue department; lands directly under government management), is used collectively for the community of baptised Sikhs. Theologically Khalsa encompasses all Human beings ( irrespective of Their cast, class, creed, faith, race, social / regional denominations) & superior creatures living elsewhere in universe. The term khalisah was used during the Muslim rule in India for crownlands administered directly by the king without the mediation of jagirdars or mansabdars."

So as to help you understand the reasons for reverting the article, I have given some details of my reasons:

• 1. Too many Typos: truthfull - should be truthful; Nanakto Sikhs should be Nanak to Sikhs; 'Sachiaara'from SatGurBani should be 'Sachiaara' from SatGurBani; Nanank - should be Nanak; Steel of the Sowrd should be Sword, etc

• 2 Changes not accurate or supported by Gurbani: Guru Nanak did not use the word "Khalsa" - Bhagat Kabeer did! No quotation of Guru Nanak given to support the statement made.

• 3 Does not significantly enhance or add to the article.

I am sorry to have intervened in this manner, but I hope you will agree that to present Sikhi in the best light is a commitment for all of us.

I suggest that if you wish to make any major changes of this nature to an existing article, that you first present those changes on the talk page so we can all agree them before they are transferred to the article page. Confusion

"One", your added sentence appears as gibberish. The font you are using is defaulting to a meaningless scramble of letters and numerals. Niether appering as Gurmukhi or roman letters that make any sense (the quote on Guru Nakak's words. Generally the font used for Gurmukhi defaults to just rows of question marks.

Sir, you scatter pearls in your comments. I did not know we have scholars writing here on Sikhiwiki. and words are written for those who are ready to hear them. i had will have to refind, some links to pages of the SGGS which are sublimly translated that you? had added to this page (reading them has me of the opinion that much has been written by people who completely misunderstand what Ravidas, Kabir and Guru Nanak were/are saying. One man can read the Granth and get a completely different understanding of the same exact words. I wish i could understand many of the words you write but my Gurmukhi or whatever you're using is a bove me, my loss. You list a group of 5 piares and add KHA to preface their 2nd name. Eager, i am to know why the Kha. Its meaning? The name Lucky is the only one i am familiar with, but the one i know is Harpreet ji who i respect a great deal, yours may be someone else. Just realized the cell phones here are all allowing unlimited calls, in the states, to ones Fav Fives.

I write on a Mac, and the current Leopard system (bed or critter in Persian/urdu--palang??) underlines my miss spelled words and my typos (with the ancient egyptian hierogliphic symbol for (N) or water (a zigzag wave pattern), but it forces me to guess the spelling. Before changing to the new system , a few weeks back - the only way i could see my typos or missspellings was to reread several times. That is what the Nanakto was, i am guessing. Most of the mistakes i see here are typos from people who do not look over what they write or mistakes that OCR programs make reading n's as r i, ect.

I have, as i said, seen it several times, as the many links that i thought lead to some explanitive text, but seemed only a trick to draw attention or readers, caused me to read over your? page several times - Nanakto seemed like a Japanese word as does Nishan. The engineers i have met are generally well educated. Foriegn concept for me to think of anyone being lower than anyone else, except on hillsides, stairs, ect. Warning there may be typos a plenty as i am stuck on an old system tonight.

Dad's condition is serious

My dear SikhiWiki friend,

Many thanks for your heartfelt messages regard Dad. With Waheguru's blessings, he is still in the same critical condition. The ITC are doing their best to help him but situation is pretty difficult and there are many hurdles to overcome. They say that the heart attack was very severe and that it is not functioning efficiently or pumping the required amount of blood around the body. The pulse keeps jumping higher to increase the blood flow but due to damage to the heart this is not helping.

Prayer seems to be the only avenue open to us. They say they will keep trying to maintain a reasonable pulse and blood pressure to see if the heart muscle "recovers". Kidneys are also suffering due to the low blood flow and not extracting enough toxins from the body as required.

You are welcome to correct grammatical mistakes and typos but please do not start making changes to "their" articles. I would appreciate your help in this matter. Many thanks for your messages, unfortunately, you again fail to deal with anything in plain and simple English. When talking on the talk pages, it is best to stick to just plain text. If you have a point to make, make it in simple terms; in plain English and in simple words.

When writing articles at SikhiWiki, you need to be able to write your text in understandable language. If you are unable to write your text in simple language, then you should not be contributing to this project. You must write is language that others can understand and appreciate. We are not after complex ideas. Sikhi is not as complex as Einstein's theory of relativity - we do not complex mathematical formulae which no one can understand.

When you read Gurbani, it is in simple text in Gurmukhi; in short sentences and in paragraphs. Try and stick to that idea - simple text in short neat sentences and in paragraphs. Unless, you are prepared to adhere to these rules, I suggest that you refrain from any further work here. You are free to contribute elsewhere if you can find a site that will accept your unusual style.

We do not have one word articles here. You went ahead and created several one word article which I had to delete. You continue creating non-conforming articles in the main domain which I have to transfer to your user domain. So rather than helping us in promoting the message of the Gurus, you are creating extra non-productive work.
