Prof Sahib Singh on Fareed Sahib's Image

http://www.sikhseek.com/cgi-bin/links/jump.pl?ID=2202 I am appending below Professor Sahib Singh's translation of the Gurbani title of the Image.Whatever worth it may be as readily available input for progressing/improving this article further.

Prof Sahib singh in one of his writings has commented on the Graphic not very favourably. Of hand I am not able to give you a reference. I will look for it & be back.

He cnsiders the graphic being rather mythological as the term crow in the context refer to wordly temptations(kaam ,Krodh,Lobh ,Moh & Ahenkar ete) rather than actual crows.

He further observes that, the apparently sorry & pathetic looking presentation of the saint is not warrented. Fareed Sahib lying on floor, in a way helplessly pleeading before the crows to spare his eyes no way goes with the spirit of Gurmat & towering soldierly personality profile (as stands out from Fareed Sahib's Writings) of the holy saint.

Apprehentions

Needless for me to mention that mythology has no place in SGGS,Sikhi & Sikh expressions through any media.

The artist's classical imagination & flawless epression translating the literlas of the gurbani lines in a masterpeice painting not withstanding, it remains a literal translation.

SikhiWiki being in socially universal domain, the implications of the 'graphic' sending wrong messages to the not very educated ( say rural Indians for sure, who as it is live in Indian environmencant, where masses breathe mythology (not air) to stay alive)

Anti Sikh media/elements may tend to draw extra socio-political advantages in the wrong direction.

My thoughts are guided by Sahib Singh Ji. Do share your view & let me know if this User:Mutia in any way can do better.
