BEFORE YOU READ AHEAD please picture this scenario in your mind: imagine your 15 years old.................................sharp hunger pains prick your stomach, you would eat anything weather its laying in a garbage bin or on the floor it makes no difference because you haven't eaten in the last 4 days. Your clothes are torn your face is smeared with dirt, you have no shoes... the soles of your feet sting because they are chapped and blistered from walking, You can't find a job because you are not educated, and even if you are there are no jobs available. After walking in the hot sun for hours, searching and begging for food, you come home and see your little 2 year old sister's swollen face from crying. She has 104 fever and the temperature outside is 49 degrees, she's suffering from Tubercluious after eating rotten germ infested food found in trashes around the city... You feel the void of separation she will not make it past tomorrow's sunrise........................ come back now to your own reality....... but always remember there's those out there that can't go to a better reality.........
With deep passion and humility i call upon all those brothers and sisters that dream to make a difference so large and wonderful like the world has never seen. The organization Sikh force needs serious savadars that have a large amount of  Love to help those less fortunate. The goal is to, raise money through hard work, organizing events and fundraisers in attempt to raise enough money to Permanently heal peoples broken lives. This organizations prayer is to help those that lack the most simplest necessities of life. After visiting pinglwara and spending time there this is what i saw: a 5 month old baby laying in a bed no diaper, with flies around it while it lay in its own faeces.. when someone gets  time they will clean him.....i have realized You can buy people to take care of the children there, but as we all know you cant buy love.....We make a goal every year, to impact and change a certain area in India.. and the goal of the amount we wish to raise. once that goal is prefilled we head of to india and USE the money raised to build perminent solutions to the poverty striking that area for example: buying property in that area, and building complexes (which will be given to families that have no home), then developing a continuous method of food supplies, medial treatment and of course schooling in that area. Every action and goal is to simply grab the problem at its root, rather then applying bandage solutions. As a panth we have so much money that we think we are donating to "help" people but where does it go? why have no changes taken place? why are we not pleased with the conditions back home? How can we turn our backs and continue making our own plans to get ahead when so many of our brothers and sisters rot in poverty and are left behind? Why don't we ask ourselves these questions? why are we so selfish, that we can't see beyond our own needs??? The aryan nation is in poverty and its no ones fault but our own, because we have not cared where the money is going, once we place it in someone else's hands we think our work is done.... we can fool ourselves but we cant fool those that are struggling everyday on a Hungary stomach. I urge those with medical/trade/or educating skills to come forth and not only donate money but your time as well. BY handing someone a piece of bread or a few dollars doesn't solve a problem, your love, time and labour are needed to make a concrete change. Theres so much to say and do, and without a lot of you it wont blossom..... so kindly get in touch with with me at [email protected] and if this is not for you, kindly forward it to others.. thank you

Task and To-dos for Building SikhiWiki

SikhiWiki is just being developed and we need your help to actually brainstorm and organizing the website. Feel free to add to this list or just comment. Click on the "Edit" or "Edit this page" at the top to give your input. Please also add your signature (if you are registered) by clicking on the "signature" button above the edit box so that as people add comments we know who is who. --gmustuk 10:45, 25 Feb 2005

Dear users, when making an amendments (changes) please ensure that you use a high standard of English and strong Grammar. I have read several articles on this site, and have found many spelling mistakes and the grammar is that compared to a child of 11 year of age.

Content & Editorial

  • CATEGORIES - Ideas needed for coming up with a Hierarchy of Categories for organizing the topics. Some people will do searches...but we want to have a browseable category list (with subcategories) so that people can go through the articles without having something specific in mind.
  • CONTENT - We need people who can help in a variety of ways. There is a lot of work to be done to get the base of the website started.

We would like to encourage you to come participate and be a part of SikhiWiki. There are many ways that you can contribute. Here are a few:

    • Collect/write articles which can be posted online (and get written permission if necessary) - This can be articles from the current time (not necessarily from the Guru's time). History is happening now and every day!
    • Add individual articles to website - If you already have articles you can add them to SikhiWiki.
    • Cross link related articles - Most of the articles will have words that relate to other articles. We want to create cross links so that when reading you can read related information. (See the article on Harmandir Sahib as an example. )
    • Add pictures to articles - Do you have a collection of pictures? You could go through and add pictures that relate to existing articles.
    • Add sound and other media to articles - You can upload Gurbani mp3 clips, lectures or other related multi media.
    • Categorizing all articles for easy browsing and organization - Every article should be assigned a category so that they can be organized. You can help categorize them.
    • Beautify/Format the articles - You can help make the pages look beautiful, by formatting the articles.
    • Add article and pictures about the meaning of "Ardas". Download 11MB compressed word document | uncompressed word document
  • CONTENT RESOURCE - Different sources which we can use to get starting content for the website.
  • MODERATORS - Find and setup list of individuals that are committed to this project and willing to spend time adding content and reviewing content that others add.

System Related

  • Finish customizing these pages: Boilerplate_request_for_permission AND SikhiWiki:Copyrights
  • CSS Underline link problem - The default seems to have changed - underline links. I figured out that when you are not logged in the underline on navigator links is not there. When you login it default "underline links" (in "Preferences" - "Misc Settings"). We should have it default to "no underline"
  • CATEGORY SELECTION - In order to facilitate the organization of the articles we should provide a drop down list of categories that people can select. So if they create a new article they can easily select one or more categories for that article. Otherwise most people will not put a category..or it will require someone else to categorize it at a later time.
  • SIKHIWIKI LINK IMAGES - Create a set of SikhiWiki images and HTML which can be downloaded and used on other Sikh Websites. Also be able to do a search.

ref tag not working

I am editing the entry on Khalistan and using the <ref> tag to place references. Please see http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Cite/Cite.php for details on the tagging. I have successfully used the tagging at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khalistan

I would appreciate if someone at SikhiWiki can help me resolve.Zafarnamah 12:03, 23 January 2006 (Central Standard Time)

Maanyog Hari Singhji WKWF First of all, I must apologize for having been absent from SikhiWiki for a rather long spell. Having finished my exams, I had been (and still am) busy looking for a job. But henceforth, I hope to be more regular in my duty to the Guru. Will keep in touch. Thank you Regards Amita Singh Mutia

Invalid encoding

Lots of characters are now messed up and Unicode has stopped working. It appears as if the database is stored as UTF-8, but accessed as Latin and then sent again as Unicode. Please fix this. Very Illustrative main Page

Main page has become very interesting with lots of picturesque illustrations and choice of topics either being of current nature or having historic or heritage value.these are very good points .

But at the same time for users having low band width for internet (this is true for users in india where still band widths are low for large segment of internet users who belong to medium class or are students );it is practically not possible to open even the starting main page of sikhiwiki encyclopaedia. In my opinion main page should be on the pattern of Google site which opens very fast compared to other sites like Yahoo etc.User may not thus be able to fully exploit the features but will at least develop a hunger to look for other illustarted pages and will be prompted to go to an internet resource where he is able to get higher band width to fully exploit all features of encyclopaedia.Aim should be richness of content of the sikh encyclopaedia but at the same time exponential growth of no of users like other wikipedia in all parts of the world.

Let some more users ponder over this and statistics about additions of users to sikhiwiki be watched before taking any corrective action about decision of Main page content by the Administrators.--Guglani 04:28, 6 November 2006 (MST)

Grammatical Errors on Main Page

Recommended that 'We wishes all our Christians brothers and sisters a very Merry Christmas.' be changed to 'We wish all our Christian brothers and sisters a very Merry Christmas.'

Hi, Amita, Many thanks for spotting that! - The message started with "SikhiWiki wishes our ..." but due to space limitation "Sikhiwiki" was changed to "We" but the word "wishes" was unfortunately not changed .... Many thanks for keeping a keen eye on things. I think that shows that I need to have a rest - Goodnight! --Hari Singh 22:07, 23 December 2006 (MST)
