incorrect statement?

I've removed the following statement from the article:"Like Hindi and Urdu [gurmukhi], it is derived from Sanskrit."

Though Hindi is quite clearly derived from Sanskrit, I don't think it's correct to say that Urdu is. Urdu's script is quite clearly of Persian origin, and it's vocab is made up of 60% of so of words of Persian. Studies into the origins of Urdu show that it belongs to the Iranian group of language along with Pashto and Tajik.

A general statement saying that Gurmukhi is derived from Sankskrit, is not wholly true since though it's scriptual form is undeniably of Sanskrit origin, it too shares many common words (60%) with Urdu, of Persian origin.

In general this article does need to be worked on more: Guru Nanak Dev ji quite clearly used a Punjabi script, and so saying that Guru Angad Dev ji invented the script is incorrect.
