It is true that we should not copy the large section of the book. However, under fair copy rules and for the promotion of the book or to promote Sikhi, it may be necessary to quote small section (ie less than 5-10%) from the book for review purposes and other reasons.

If the intention is to publish more than a small section, we should get permission from the author; or as a minimum seek permission from the writer and publishers. However, it is appreciated that due to seva by many Sikh writers to the panth, it may not be possible to contact the writer; further, the author may have depart to the next world.

Also, it has to be appreciated that many authors may not be easy to contact. If permission is pending or has been given than the material may be published on Sikhiwiki when it involves text from [[Guru Granth Sahib]] or other recognised bani text such as the Dasam Granth or Sarbloh Granth, etc.

Copyright

If permission is pending or has been given than the material may be published on Sikhiwiki when it involves text from Guru Granth Sahib or other recognised bani text such as the Dasam Granth or Sarbloh Granth, etc.

I hope clarifies the position. Kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 17:27, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
