| ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੈ ਜੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

| Ur ḏẖārai jo anṯar nām.
|
| One who enshrines the Naam within the heart,
|
| ਸਰਬ ਮੈ ਪੇਖੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥
|
| Sarab mai pekẖai bẖagvān.
|
| who sees the Lord God in all,
|
| ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੈ ॥
|
| Nimakẖ nimakẖ ṯẖākur namaskārai.
|
| who, each and every moment, bows in reverence to the Lord Master -
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੁ ਅਪਰਸੁ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
|
| Nānak oh apras sagal nisṯārai. ((1))
|
| O Nanak, such a one is the true 'touch-nothing Saint', who emancipates everyone. ((1))

| ਮਿਥਿਆ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਪਰਸ ॥
|
| Mithi▫ā nāhī rasnā paras.
|
| One whose tongue does not touch falsehood;
|
| ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦਰਸ ॥
|
| Man mėh parīṯ niranjan ḏaras.
|
| whose mind is filled with love for the Blessed Vision of the Pure Lord,
|
| ਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਪੇਖੈ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ॥
|
| Par ṯari▫a rūp na pekẖai neṯar.
|
| whose eyes do not gaze upon the beauty of others' wives,
|
| ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹੇਤ ॥
|
| Sāḏẖ kī tahal saṯsang heṯ.
|
| who serves the Holy and loves the congregation of saints,
|
| ਕਰਨ ਨ ਸੁਨੈ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ॥
|
| Karan na sunai kāhū kī ninḏā.
|
| whose ears do not listen to slander against anyone,
|
| ਸਭ ਤੇ ਜਾਨੈ ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਮੰਦਾ ॥
|
| Sabẖ ṯe jānai āpas ka▫o manḏā.
|
| who deems himself to be the worst of all,
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥
|
| Gur parsāḏ bikẖi▫ā parharai.
|
| who, by Guru's Grace, renounces corruption,
|
| ਮਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਟਰੈ ॥
|
| Man kī bāsnā man ṯe tarai.
|
| who banishes the mind's evil desires from his mind,
|
| ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਜਿਤ ਪੰਚ ਦੋਖ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ॥
|
| Inḏrī jiṯ pancẖ ḏokẖ ṯe rahaṯ.
|
| who conquers his sexual instincts and is free of the five sinful passions -
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਕੋ ਐਸਾ ਅਪਰਸ ॥੧॥
|
| Nānak kot maḏẖe ko aisā apras. ((1))
|
| O Nanak, among millions, there is scarcely one such 'touch-nothing Saint'. ((1))
|
| ਬੈਸਨੋ ਸੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥
|
| Baisno so jis ūpar suparsan.
|
| The true Vaishnaav, the devotee of Vishnu, is the one with whom God is thoroughly pleased.
|
| ਬਿਸਨ ਕੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਭਿੰਨ ॥
|
| Bisan kī mā▫i▫ā ṯe ho▫e bẖinn.
|
| He dwells apart from Maya.
|
| ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਿਹਕਰਮ ॥
|
| Karam karaṯ hovai nihkaram.
|
| Performing good deeds, he does not seek rewards.
|
| ਤਿਸੁ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਕਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਧਰਮ ॥
|
| Ŧis baisno kā nirmal ḏẖaram.
|
| Spotlessly pure is the religion of such a Vaishnaav;
|
| ਕਾਹੂ ਫਲ ਕੀ ਇਛਾ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਛੈ ॥
|
| Kāhū fal kī icẖẖā nahī bācẖẖai.
|
| he has no desire for the fruits of his labors.
|
| ਕੇਵਲ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਚੈ ॥
|
| Keval bẖagaṯ kīrṯan sang rācẖai.
|
| He is absorbed in devotional worship and the singing of Kirtan, the songs of the Lord's Glory.
|
| ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
|
| Man ṯan anṯar simran gopāl.
|
| Within his mind and body, he meditates in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe.
|
| ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
|
| Sabẖ ūpar hovaṯ kirpāl.
|
| He is kind to all creatures.
|
| ਆਪਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ॥
|
| Āp ḏariṛai avrah nām japāvai.
|
| He holds fast to the Naam, and inspires others to chant it.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੁ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
|
| Nānak oh baisno param gaṯ pāvai. ((2))
|
| O Nanak, such a Vaishnaav obtains the supreme status. ((2))
|
| ਭਗਉਤੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
|
| Bẖag▫uṯī bẖagvanṯ bẖagaṯ kā rang.
|
| The true Bhagaautee, the devotee of Adi Shakti, loves the devotional worship of God.
|
| ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
|
| Sagal ṯi▫āgai ḏusat kā sang.
|
| He forsakes the company of all wicked people.
|
| ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਗਲਾ ਭਰਮੁ ॥
|
| Man ṯe binsai saglā bẖaram.
|
| All doubts are removed from his mind.
|
| ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜੈ ਸਗਲ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
|
| Kar pūjai sagal pārbarahm.
|
| He performs devotional service to the Supreme Lord God in all.
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਪਾ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਵੈ ॥
|
| Sāḏẖsang pāpā mal kẖovai.
|
| In the Company of the Holy, the filth of sin is washed away.
|
| ਤਿਸੁ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
|
| Ŧis bẖag▫uṯī kī maṯ ūṯam hovai.
|
| The wisdom of such a Bhagaautee becomes supreme.
|
| ਭਗਵੰਤ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤਿ ॥
|
| Bẖagvanṯ kī tahal karai niṯ nīṯ.
|
| He constantly performs the service of the Supreme Lord God.
|
| ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੈ ਬਿਸਨ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥
|
| Man ṯan arpai bisan parīṯ.
|
| He dedicates his mind and body to the Love of God.
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਾਵੈ ॥
|
| Har ke cẖaran hirḏai basāvai.
|
| The Lotus Feet of the Lord abide in his heart.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਕਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
|
| Nānak aisā bẖag▫uṯī bẖagvanṯ ka▫o pāvai. ((3))
|
| O Nanak, such a Bhagaautee attains the Lord God. ((3))
|
| ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਜੋ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਬੋਧੈ ॥
|
| So pandiṯ jo man parboḏẖai.
|
| He is a true Pandit, a religious scholar, who instructs his own mind.
|
| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਤਮ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਧੈ ॥
|
| Rām nām āṯam mėh soḏẖai.
|
| He searches for the Lord's Name within his own soul.
|
| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੁ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ॥
|
| Rām nām sār ras pīvai.
|
| He drinks in the Exquisite Nectar of the Lord's Name.
|
| ਉਸੁ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਵੈ ॥
|
| Us pandiṯ kai upḏes jag jīvai.
|
| By that Pandit's teachings, the world lives.
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਾਵੈ ॥
|
| Har kī kathā hirḏai basāvai.
|
| He implants the Sermon of the Lord in his heart.
|
| ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
|
| So pandiṯ fir jon na āvai.
|
| Such a Pandit is not cast into the womb of reincarnation again.
|
| ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਮੂਲ ॥
|
| Beḏ purān simriṯ būjẖai mūl.
|
| He understands the fundamental essence of the Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees.
|
| ਸੂਖਮ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਅਸਥੂਲੁ ॥
|
| Sūkẖam mėh jānai asthūl.
|
| In the unmanifest, he sees the manifest world to exist.
|
| ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਕਉ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥
|
| Cẖahu varnā ka▫o ḏe upḏes.
|
| He gives instruction to people of all castes and social classes.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸੁ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਅਦੇਸੁ ॥੪॥
|
| Nānak us pandiṯ ka▫o saḏā aḏes. ((4))
|
| O Nanak, to such a Pandit, I bow in salutation forever. ((4))
|
| ਬੀਜ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
|
| Bīj manṯar sarab ko gi▫ān.
|
| The Beej Mantra, the Seed Mantra, is spiritual wisdom for everyone.
|
| ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਮਹਿ ਜਪੈ ਕੋਊ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
|
| Cẖahu varnā mėh japai ko▫ū nām.
|
| Anyone, from any class, may chant the Naam.
|
| ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
|
| Jo jo japai ṯis kī gaṯ ho▫e.
|
| Whoever chants it, is emancipated.
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
|
| Sāḏẖsang pāvai jan ko▫e.
|
| And yet, rare are those who attain it, in the Company of the Holy.
|
| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
|
| Kar kirpā anṯar ur ḏẖārai.
|
| By His Grace, He enshrines it within.
|
| ਪਸੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਮੁਘਦ ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਤਾਰੈ ॥
|
| Pas pareṯ mugẖaḏ pāthar ka▫o ṯārai.
|
| Even beasts, ghosts and the stone-hearted are saved.
|
| ਸਰਬ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਅਉਖਦੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
|
| Sarab rog kā a▫ukẖaḏ nām.
|
| The Naam is the panacea, the remedy to cure all ills.
|
| ਕਲਿਆਣ ਰੂਪ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਮ ॥
|
| Kali▫āṇ rūp mangal guṇ gām.
|
| Singing the Glory of God is the embodiment of bliss and emancipation.
|
| ਕਾਹੂ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਧਰਮਿ ॥
|
| Kāhū jugaṯ kiṯai na pā▫ī▫ai ḏẖaram.
|
| It cannot be obtained by any religious rituals.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ॥੫॥
|
| Nānak ṯis milai jis likẖi▫ā ḏẖur karam. ((5))
|
| O Nanak, he alone obtains it, whose karma is so pre-ordained. ((5))
|
| ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
|
| Jis kai man pārbarahm kā nivās.
|
| One whose mind is a home for the Supreme Lord God -
|
| ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ॥
|
| Ŧis kā nām saṯ Rāmḏās.
|
| his name is truly Ram Das, the Lord's servant.
|
| ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
|
| Āṯam rām ṯis naḏrī ā▫i▫ā.
|
| He comes to have the Vision of the Lord, the Supreme Soul.
|
| ਦਾਸ ਦਸੰਤਣ ਭਾਇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
|
| Ḏās ḏasanṯaṇ bẖā▫e ṯin pā▫i▫ā.
|
| Deeming himself to be the slave of the Lord's slaves, he obtains it.
|
| ਸਦਾ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
|
| Saḏā nikat nikat har jān.
|
| He knows the Lord to be Ever-present, close at hand.
|
| ਸੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
|
| So ḏās ḏargėh parvān.
|
| Such a servant is honored in the Court of the Lord.
|
| ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
|
| Apune ḏās ka▫o āp kirpā karai.
|
| To His servant, He Himself shows His Mercy.
|
| ਤਿਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਰੈ ॥
|
| Ŧis ḏās ka▫o sabẖ sojẖī parai.
|
| Such a servant understands everything.
|
| ਸਗਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਆਤਮ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥
|
| Sagal sang āṯam uḏās.
|
| Amidst all, his soul is unattached.
|
| ਐਸੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ॥੬॥
|
| Aisī jugaṯ Nānak Rāmḏās. ((6))
|
| Such is the way, O Nanak, of the Lord's servant. ((6))
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਆਤਮ ਹਿਤਾਵੈ ॥
|
| Parabẖ kī āgi▫ā āṯam hiṯāvai.
|
| One who, in his soul, loves the Will of God,
|
| ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਸੋਊ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥
|
| Jīvan mukaṯ so▫ū kahāvai.
|
| is said to be Jivan Mukta - liberated while yet alive.
|
| ਤੈਸਾ ਹਰਖੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਉਸੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
|
| Ŧaisā harakẖ ṯaisā us sog.
|
| As is joy, so is sorrow to him.
|
| ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਤਹ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਓਗੁ ॥
|
| Saḏā anand ṯah nahī bi▫og.
|
| He is in eternal bliss, and is not separated from God.
|
| ਤੈਸਾ ਸੁਵਰਨੁ ਤੈਸੀ ਉਸੁ ਮਾਟੀ ॥
|
| Ŧaisā suvran ṯaisī us mātī.
|
| As is gold, so is dust to him.
|
| ਤੈਸਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤੈਸੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਟੀ ॥
|
| Ŧaisā amriṯ ṯaisī bikẖ kẖātī.
|
| As is ambrosial nectar, so is bitter poison to him.
|
| ਤੈਸਾ ਮਾਨੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
|
| Ŧaisā mān ṯaisā abẖimān.
|
| As is honor, so is dishonor.
|
| ਤੈਸਾ ਰੰਕੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਰਾਜਾਨੁ ॥
|
| Ŧaisā rank ṯaisā rājān.
|
| As is the beggar, so is the king.
|
| ਜੋ ਵਰਤਾਏ ਸਾਈ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥
|
| Jo varṯā▫e sā▫ī jugaṯ.
|
| Whatever God ordains, that is his way.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ॥੭॥
|
| Nānak oh purakẖ kahī▫ai jīvan mukaṯ. ((7))
|
| O Nanak, that being is known as Jivan Mukta. ((7))
|
| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਠਾਉ ॥
|
| Pārbarahm ke sagle ṯẖā▫o.
|
| All places belong to the Supreme Lord God.
|
| ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤੈਸਾ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਉ ॥
|
| Jiṯ jiṯ gẖar rākẖai ṯaisā ṯin nā▫o.
|
| According to the homes in which they are placed, so are His creatures named.
|
| ਆਪੇ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
|
| Āpe karan karāvan jog.
|
| He Himself is the Doer, the Cause of causes.
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
|
| Parabẖ bẖāvai so▫ī fun hog.
|
| Whatever pleases God, ultimately comes to pass.
|
| ਪਸਰਿਓ ਆਪਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗ ॥
|
| Pasri▫o āp ho▫e anaṯ ṯarang.
|
| He Himself is All-pervading, in endless waves.
|
| ਲਖੇ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ॥
|
| Lakẖe na jāhi pārbarahm ke rang.
|
| The playful sport of the Supreme Lord God cannot be known.
|
| ਜੈਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ ਤੈਸਾ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥
|
| Jaisī maṯ ḏe▫e ṯaisā pargās.
|
| As the understanding is given, so is one enlightened.
|
| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ ॥
|
| Pārbarahm karṯā abinās.
|
| The Supreme Lord God, the Creator, is eternal and everlasting.
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
|
| Saḏā saḏā saḏā ḏa▫i▫āl.
|
| Forever, forever and ever, He is merciful.
|
| ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੮॥੯॥
|
| Simar simar Nānak bẖa▫e nihāl. ((8)(9))
|
| Remembering Him, remembering Him in meditation, O Nanak, one is blessed with ecstasy. ((8)(9))
