| Ŧajahu si▫ĝnap sur janhu simrahu har har rĝ▫e.

| Give up your cleverness, good people - remember the Lord God, your King!
|
| ਝਕ ਆਸ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਰਖਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੂਖ ਭਰਮ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥

| Ėk ĝs har man rakẖahu Nĝnak ḝūkẖ bẖaram bẖa▫o jĝ▫e. ((1))
|
| Enshrine in your heart, your hopes in the One Lord. O Nanak, your pain, doubt and fear shall depart. ((1))

| ਮਾਨਖ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਬਰਿਥੀ ਸਭ ਜਾਨ ॥
|
| Mĝnukẖ kī tek barithī sabẖ jĝn.
|
| Reliance on mortals is in vain - know this well.
|
| ਦੇਵਨ ਕਉ ਝਕੈ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
|
| Ḏevan ka▫o ekai bẖagvĝn.
|
| The Great Giver is the One Lord God.
|
| ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਦੀਝ ਰਹੈ ਅਘਾਇ ॥
|
| Jis kai ḝī▫ai rahai agẖĝ▫e.
|
| By His gifts, we are satisfied,
|
| ਬਹਰਿ ਨ ਤਰਿਸਨਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥
|
| Bahur na ṯarisnĝ lĝgai ĝ▫e.
|
| and we suffer from thirst no longer.
|
| ਮਾਰੈ ਰਾਖੈ ਝਕੋ ਆਪਿ ॥
|
| Mĝrai rĝkẖai eko ĝp.
|
| The One Lord Himself destroys and also preserves.
|
| ਮਾਨਖ ਕੈ ਕਿਛ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
|
| Mĝnukẖ kai kicẖẖ nĝhī hĝth.
|
| Nothing at all is in the hands of mortal beings.
|
| ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹਕਮ ਬੂਝਿ ਸਖ ਹੋਇ ॥
|
| Ŧis kĝ hukam būjẖ sukẖ ho▫e.
|
| Understanding His Order, there is peace.
|
| ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਮ ਰਖ ਕੰਠਿ ਪਰੋਇ ॥
|
| Ŧis kĝ nĝm rakẖ kanṯẖ paro▫e.
|
| So take His Name, and wear it as your necklace.
|
| ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪਰਭ ਸੋਇ ॥
|
| Simar simar simar parabẖ so▫e.
|
| Remember, remember, remember God in meditation.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਘਨ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
|
| Nĝnak bigẖan na lĝgai ko▫e. ((1))
|
| O Nanak, no obstacle shall stand in your way. ((1))
|
| ਉਸਤਤਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥
|
| Usṯaṯ man mėh kar nirankĝr.
|
| Praise the Formless Lord in your mind.
|
| ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
|
| Kar man mere saṯ bi▫uhĝr.
|
| O my mind, make this your true occupation.
|
| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮਰਿਤ ਪੀਉ ॥
|
| Nirmal rasnĝ amriṯ pī▫o.
|
| Let your tongue become pure, drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar.
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸਹੇਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
|
| Saḝĝ suhelĝ kar lehi jī▫o.
|
| Your soul shall be forever peaceful.
|
| ਨੈਨਹ ਪੇਖ ਠਾਕਰ ਕਾ ਰੰਗ ॥
|
| Nainhu pekẖ ṯẖĝkur kĝ rang.
|
| With your eyes, see the wondrous play of your Lord and Master.
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਭ ਸੰਗ ॥
|
| Sĝḝẖsang binsai sabẖ sang.
|
| In the Company of the Holy, all other associations vanish.
|
| ਚਰਨ ਚਲਉ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
|
| Cẖaran cẖala▫o mĝrag gobinḝ.
|
| With your feet, walk in the Way of the Lord.
|
| ਮਿਟਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਜਪੀਝ ਹਰਿ ਬਿੰਦ ॥
|
| Mitėh pĝp japī▫ai har binḝ.
|
| Sins are washed away, chanting the Lord's Name, even for a moment.
|
| ਕਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਮ ਸਰਵਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ॥
|
| Kar har karam sarvan har kathĝ.
|
| So do the Lord's Work, and listen to the Lord's Sermon.
|
| ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਊਜਲ ਮਥਾ ॥੨॥
|
| Har ḝargėh Nĝnak ūjal mathĝ. ((2))
|
| In the Lord's Court, O Nanak, your face shall be radiant. ((2))
|
| ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਜਗ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
|
| Badbẖĝgī ṯe jan jag mĝhi.
|
| Very fortunate are those humble beings in this world,
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗਨ ਗਾਹਿ ॥
|
| Saḝĝ saḝĝ har ke gun gĝhi.
|
| who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, forever and ever.
|
| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
|
| Rĝm nĝm jo karahi bīcẖĝr.
|
| Those who dwell upon the Lord's Name,
|
| ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਗਨੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
|
| Se ḝẖanvanṯ ganī sansĝr.
|
| are the most wealthy and prosperous in the world.
|
| ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਖੀ ॥
|
| Man ṯan mukẖ bolėh har mukẖī.
|
| Those who speak of the Supreme Lord in thought, word and deed -
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਨਹ ਤੇ ਸਖੀ ॥
|
| Saḝĝ saḝĝ jĝnhu ṯe sukẖī.
|
| know that they are peaceful and happy, forever and ever.
|
| ਝਕੋ ਝਕ ਝਕ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
|
| Ėko ek ek pacẖẖĝnai.
|
| One who recognizes the One and only Lord as One,
|
| ਇਤ ਉਤ ਕੀ ਓਹ ਸੋਝੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
|
| Iṯ uṯ kī oh sojẖī jĝnai.
|
| understands this world and the next.
|
| ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
|
| Nĝm sang jis kĝ man mĝni▫ĝ.
|
| One whose mind accepts the Company of the Naam,
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥
|
| Nĝnak ṯinėh niranjan jĝni▫ĝ. ((3))
|
| the Name of the Lord, O Nanak, knows the Immaculate Lord. ((3))
|
| ਗਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਆਪਨ ਆਪ ਸਝੈ ॥
|
| Gur parsĝḝ ĝpan ĝp sujẖai.
|
| By Guru's Grace, one understands himself;
|
| ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਜਾਨਹ ਤਰਿਸਨਾ ਬਝੈ ॥
|
| Ŧis kī jĝnhu ṯarisnĝ bujẖai.
|
| know that then, his thirst is quenched.
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸ ਕਹਤ ॥
|
| Sĝḝẖsang har har jas kahaṯ.
|
| In the Company of the Holy, one chants the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har.
|
| ਸਰਬ ਰੋਗ ਤੇ ਓਹ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਰਹਤ ॥
|
| Sarab rog ṯe oh har jan rahaṯ.
|
| Such a devotee of the Lord is free of all disease.
|
| ਅਨਦਿਨ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕੇਵਲ ਬਖਯਯਾਨ ॥
|
| An▫ḝin kīrṯan keval bakẖ▫yĝn.
|
| Night and day, sing the Kirtan, the Praises of the One Lord.
|
| ਗਰਿਹਸਤ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਨਿਰਬਾਨ ॥
|
| Garihsaṯ mėh so▫ī nirbĝn.
|
| In the midst of your household, remain balanced and unattached.
|
| ਝਕ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਿਸ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ॥
|
| Ėk ūpar jis jan kī ĝsĝ.
|
| One who places his hopes in the One Lord -
|
| ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕਟੀਝ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ॥
|
| Ŧis kī katī▫ai jam kī fĝsĝ.
|
| the noose of Death is cut away from his neck.
|
| ਪਾਰਬਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਜਿਸ ਮਨਿ ਭੂਖ ॥
|
| Pĝrbarahm kī jis man bẖūkẖ.
|
| One whose mind hungers for the Supreme Lord God,
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਲਾਗਹਿ ਦੂਖ ॥੪॥
|
| Nĝnak ṯisėh na lĝgėh ḝūkẖ. ((4))
|
| O Nanak, shall not suffer pain. ((4))
|
| ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਭ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
|
| Jis ka▫o har parabẖ man cẖiṯ ĝvai.
|
| One who focuses his conscious mind on the Lord God -
|
| ਸੋ ਸੰਤ ਸਹੇਲਾ ਨਹੀ ਡਲਾਵੈ ॥
|
| So sanṯ suhelĝ nahī dulĝvai.
|
| that Saint is at peace; he does not waver.
|
| ਜਿਸ ਪਰਭ ਅਪਨਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
|
| Jis parabẖ apunĝ kirpĝ karai.
|
| Those unto whom God has granted His Grace -
|
| ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਹ ਕਿਸ ਤੇ ਡਰੈ ॥
|
| So sevak kaho kis ṯe darai.
|
| who do those servants need to fear?
|
| ਜੈਸਾ ਸਾ ਤੈਸਾ ਦਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥
|
| Jaisĝ sĝ ṯaisĝ ḝaristĝ▫i▫ĝ.
|
| As God is, so does He appear;
|
| ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
|
| Apune kĝraj mėh ĝp samĝ▫i▫ĝ.
|
| in His Own creation, He Himself is pervading.
|
| ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਤ ਸੀਝਿਆ ॥
|
| Soḝẖaṯ soḝẖaṯ soḝẖaṯ sījẖi▫ĝ.
|
| Searching, searching, searching, and finally, success!
|
| ਗਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਤ ਸਭ ਬੂਝਿਆ ॥
|
| Gur parsĝḝ ṯaṯ sabẖ būjẖi▫ĝ.
|
| By Guru's Grace, the essence of all reality is understood.
|
| ਜਬ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਬ ਸਭ ਕਿਛ ਮੂਲ ॥
|
| Jab ḝekẖ▫a▫u ṯab sabẖ kicẖẖ mūl.
|
| Wherever I look, there I see Him, at the root of all things.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੂਖਮ ਸੋਈ ਅਸਥੂਲ ॥੫॥
|
| Nĝnak so sūkẖam so▫ī asthūl. ((5))
|
| O Nanak, He is the subtle, and He is also the manifest. ((5))
|
| ਨਹ ਕਿਛ ਜਨਮੈ ਨਹ ਕਿਛ ਮਰੈ ॥
|
| Nah kicẖẖ janmai nah kicẖẖ marai.
|
| Nothing is born, and nothing dies.
|
| ਆਪਨ ਚਲਿਤ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰੈ ॥
|
| Āpan cẖaliṯ ĝp hī karai.
|
| He Himself stages His own drama.
|
| ਆਵਨ ਜਾਵਨ ਦਰਿਸਟਿ ਅਨਦਰਿਸਟਿ ॥
|
| Āvan jĝvan ḝarisat an▫ḝarisat.
|
| Coming and going, seen and unseen,
|
| ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਭ ਸਰਿਸਟਿ ॥
|
| Āgi▫ĝkĝrī ḝẖĝrī sabẖ sarisat.
|
| all the world is obedient to His Will.
|
| ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਗਲ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
|
| Āpe ĝp sagal mėh ĝp.
|
| He Himself is All-in-Himself.
|
| ਅਨਿਕ ਜਗਤਿ ਰਚਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਿ ॥
|
| Anik jugaṯ racẖ thĝp uthĝp.
|
| In His many ways, He establishes and disestablishes.
|
| ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛ ਖੰਡ ॥
|
| Abẖinĝsī nĝhī kicẖẖ kẖand.
|
| He is Imperishable; nothing can be broken.
|
| ਧਾਰਣ ਧਾਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਰਹਮੰਡ ॥
|
| Ḏẖĝraṇ ḝẖĝr rahi▫o barahmand.
|
| He lends His Support to maintain the Universe.
|
| ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵ ਪਰਖ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥
|
| Alakẖ abẖev purakẖ parṯĝp.
|
| Unfathomable and Inscrutable is the Glory of the Lord.
|
| ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਝ ਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਪ ॥੬॥
|
| Āp japĝ▫e ṯa Nĝnak jĝp. ((6))
|
| As He inspires us to meditate, O Nanak, so do we meditate. ((6))
|
| ਜਿਨ ਪਰਭ ਜਾਤਾ ਸ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ ॥
|
| Jin parabẖ jĝṯĝ so sobẖĝvanṯ.
|
| Those who know God are glorious.
|
| ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਉਧਰੈ ਤਿਨ ਮੰਤ ॥
|
| Sagal sansĝr uḝẖrai ṯin manṯ.
|
| The whole world is redeemed by their teachings.
|
| ਪਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰਨ ॥
|
| Parabẖ ke sevak sagal uḝẖĝran.
|
| God's servants redeem all.
|
| ਪਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਸਾਰਨ ॥
|
| Parabẖ ke sevak ḝūkẖ bisĝran.
|
| God's servants cause sorrows to be forgotten.
|
| ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਝ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
|
| Āpe mel la▫e kirpĝl.
|
| The Merciful Lord unites them with Himself.
|
| ਗਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦ ਜਪਿ ਭਝ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
|
| Gur kĝ sabaḝ jap bẖa▫e nihĝl.
|
| Chanting the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they become ecstatic.
|
| ਉਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋਈ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
|
| Un kī sevĝ so▫ī lĝgai.
|
| He alone is committed to serve them,
|
| ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਡਭਾਗੈ ॥
|
| Jis no kirpĝ karahi badbẖĝgai.
|
| upon whom God bestows His Mercy, by great good fortune.
|
| ਨਾਮ ਜਪਤ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਸਰਾਮ ॥
|
| Nĝm japaṯ pĝvahi bisrĝm.
|
| Those who chant the Naam find their place of rest.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਪਰਖ ਕਉ ਊਤਮ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨ ॥੭॥
|
| Nĝnak ṯin purakẖ ka▫o ūṯam kar mĝn. ((7))
|
| O Nanak, respect those persons as the most noble. ((7))
|
| ਜੋ ਕਿਛ ਕਰੈ ਸ ਪਰਭ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
|
| Jo kicẖẖ karai so parabẖ kai rang.
|
| Whatever you do, do it for the Love of God.
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਬਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
|
| Saḝĝ saḝĝ basai har sang.
|
| Forever and ever, abide with the Lord.
|
| ਸਹਜ ਸਭਾਇ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
|
| Sahj subẖĝ▫e hovai so ho▫e.
|
| By its own natural course, whatever will be will be.
|
| ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
|
| Karṇaihĝr pacẖẖĝṇai so▫e.
|
| Acknowledge that Creator Lord;
|
| ਪਰਭ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਜਨ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨਾ ॥
|
| Parabẖ kĝ kī▫ĝ jan mīṯẖ lagĝnĝ.
|
| God's doings are sweet to His humble servant.
|
| ਜੈਸਾ ਸਾ ਤੈਸਾ ਦਰਿਸਟਾਨਾ ॥
|
| Jaisĝ sĝ ṯaisĝ ḝaristĝnĝ.
|
| As He is, so does He appear.
|
| ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੇ ਤਿਸ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਝ ॥
|
| Jis ṯe upje ṯis mĝhi samĝ▫e.
|
| From Him we came, and into Him we shall merge again.
|
| ਓਇ ਸਖ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਉਨਹੂ ਬਨਿ ਆਝ ॥
|
| O▫e sukẖ niḝẖĝn unhū ban ĝ▫e.
|
| He is the treasure of peace, and so does His servant become.
|
| ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਮਾਨ ॥
|
| Āpas ka▫o ĝp ḝīno mĝn.
|
| Unto His own, He has given His honor.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਭ ਜਨ ਝਕੋ ਜਾਨ ॥੮॥੧੪॥
|
| Nĝnak parabẖ jan eko jĝn. ((8)(14))
|
| O Nanak, know that God and His humble servant are one and the same. ((8)(14))
