SikhiWiki is a free, multilingual, open content encyclopaedia project about Sikhism. It is a brand new experiment started in February 2005 - A web based encyclopaedia of the Sikh Way of Life written collaboratively by many of its readers. The aim is to provide a free database of the valuable information about this new faith created by the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak. Since the first widely available translation of the Guru Granth Sahib in the 1970's, there has been a constant hunger for information about the contribution of the Sikh Gurus to the world.

Background

At Sikhiwiki, we have lots of people continuously writing and improving the content of SikhiWIKI, by constantly making changes to the database, all of which are recorded on the page history and the Recent Changes page. Nonsense and vandalism are usually removed quickly. Feel free to dive in take a look at the Tutorial, play in the sandbox, get comfortable and start contributing to our SikhiWIKI!. Read more here

Lets get technical

The operation of SikhiWiki depends on MediaWiki, a custom-made, free and open source wiki software platform written in PHP and built upon the MySQL database. The software incorporates programming features such as a macro language, variables, a transclusion system for templates, and URL redirection.

The SikhiWiki project relies on your support!

Our motto is: "Anything is possible! Our joint resources are vast and unlimited." Your tax-deductible gift to SikhiWiki is what will make the SikhiWiki service fast, reliable, and give it the resources needed for continued growth. We are building SikiWiki to last. It is a long-term project - a gathering place for us and our children as well as a legacy to future generations.

Contributions for SikhiWiki are made through SikhNet, which is a non profit organization that arranges and maintains SikhiWiki database system. All donations for SikhiWiki are tracked and used only for the development of SikhiWiki.
