ਅਨੂਪ ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ

ANOOP-NARAJ STANZA

ਭਭੱਜਿ ਭੀਤਣੋ ਭਟੰ ਤਤੱਜਿ ਭਰਥਣੋ ਭੂਅੰ ॥ ਗਿਰੰਤ ਲ੝ੱਥਤੰ ਉਠੰ ਰ੝ਰੋਦ ਰਾਘਵੰ ਤਟੰ ॥

The warriors fled leaving Bharat fallen on the earth and rising and falling over corpses they came to Ram.

ਜ੝ਝੇ ਸ੝ ਭ੝ਰਾਤ ਭਰਥਣੋ ਸ੝ਣੰਤ ਜਾਨਕੀ ਪਤੰ ॥ ਪਪਾਤ ਭੂਮਿਣੋ ਤਲੰ ਅਪੀੜ ਪੀੜਤੰ ਦ੝ਖੰ ॥੭੯੫॥

When Ram came to Know of the death of Bharat, then highly anguished with sorrows he fell down of the earth.795.

ਸਸੱਜ ਜੋਧਣੰ ਜ੝ਧੀ ਸ੝ ਕ੝ਰ੝ੱਧ ਬੱਧਣੋ ਬਰੰ ॥ ਤਤੱਜਿ ਜੱਗ ਮੰਡਲੰ ਅਦੰਡ ਦੰਡਣੋ ਨਰੰ ॥

Ram himself started for war in great fury after decorating his army of warriors in order to kill the brave fighters and punish the unpunished;

ਸ੝ ਗੱਜ ਬੱਜ ਬਾਜਣੋ ਉਠੰਤ ਭੈ ਧਰੀ ਸ੝ਰੰ ॥ ਸਨੱਧ ਬੱਧ ਕੈ ਚਲੰ ਸਬੱਧ ਜੋਧਣੋ ਬਰੰ ॥੭੯੬॥

Hearing the voices of the elephants and the horses, the gods also became fearful and in this army there were several heroes who could destroy the bedecked forces.796.

ਚਚੱਕ ਚਾਂਵਡੀ ਨਭੰ ਫਿਕੰਤ ਫਿੰਕਰੀ ਧਰੰ ॥ ਭਖੰਤ ਮਾਸ ਹਾਰਣੰ ਬਮੰਤ ਜ੝ਵਾਲ ਦ੝ਰਗਯੰ ॥

Roaming in he sky, the vultures began to move on the earth, the goddess Durga, appeared showering innumerable fires and eating the flesh.

ਪ੝ਅੰਤ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਸਿਰੰ ਨਚੰਤ ਈਸਣੋ ਰਣੰ ॥ ਭਕੰਤ ਭੂਤ ਪ੝ਰੇਤਣੋ ਬਕੰਤ ਬੀਰ ਬੈਤਲੰ ॥੭੯੭॥

It seemed that Shiva, the lord of Parvati, was engaged in Tandava dance in the battlefield. The heinous shouts of ghosts, fiends and brave Vaitals are being heard.797.

ਤਿਲਕਾ ਛੰਦ ॥

TILKA STANZA

ਜ੝ੱਟੇ ਵੀਰੰ ॥ ਛ੝ੱਟੇ ਤੀਰੰ ॥ ਫ੝ੱਟੇ ਅੰਗੰ ॥ ਤ੝ੱਟੇ ਤੰਗੰ ॥੭੯੮॥

The warriors began to fight, the arrows were showered, the limbs were chopped and the saddles of the horses were torn.798.

ਭੱਗੇ ਵੀਰੰ ॥ ਲੱਗੇ ਤੀਰੰ ॥ ਪਿੱਖੇ ਰਾਮੰ ॥ ਧਰਮੰ ਧਾਮੰ ॥੭੯੯॥

The warriors began to run on being shot by arrows; the sbode of Dharma (Ram) saw all this.799.

ਜ੝ੱਝੇ ਜੋਧੰ ॥ ਮੱਚੇ ਕ੝ਰੋਧੰ ॥ ਬੰਧੋ ਬਾਲੰ ॥ ਬੀਰ ਉਤਾਲੰ ॥੮੦੦॥

Being enraged the warriors began to fight and said, "Arrest and bind these boys quickly."800.

ਢ੝ੱਕੇ ਫੇਰਿ ॥ ਲਿੱਨੇ ਘੇਰ ॥ ਵੀਰੈਂ ਬਾਲ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਦ੝ਵੈ ਕਾਲ ॥੮੦੧॥

The soldiers rushed forth and besieged both the death-like radiant boy.801.

ਤੱਜੀ ਕਾਣ ॥ ਮਾਰੇ ਬਾਣ ॥ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਵੀਰ ॥ ਭੱਗੇ ਧੀਰ ॥੮੦੨॥

The boys fearlessly discharged arrows with which the warriors fell and very enduring ones fled away.802.

ਕੱਟੇ ਅੰਗ ॥ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਜੰਗ ॥ ਸ੝ੱਧੰ ਸੂਰ ॥ ਭਿੱਨੇ ਨੂਰ ॥੮੦੩॥

The warriors of chopped limbs fell in the field, they were looking extremely magnificent.803.

ਲਖੈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ ਭਗੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਤਜੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ ਧਰਮੰ ਧਾਮ ॥੮੦੪॥

They are running away without seeing anything; they are leaving even Ram, the abode of Dharma.804.

ਅਉਰੈ ਭੇਸ ॥ ਖ੝ੱਲੇ ਕੇਸ ॥ ਸਸਤ੝ਰੰ ਛੋਰਿ ॥ ਦੈ ਦੈ ਕੋਰ ॥੮੦੫॥

The warriors, disguising themselves, loosening their hair and forsaking their weapons, are running away by the sides of the battlefield.805.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

DOHRA

ਦ੝ਹੂੰ ਦਿਸਨ ਜੋਧਾ ਹਰੈ ਪਰਿਯੋ ਜ੝ੱਧ ਦ੝ਇ ਜਾਮ ॥ ਜੂਝ ਸਕਲ ਸੈਨਾ ਗਈ ਰਹਿਗੇ ਝਕਲ ਰਾਮ ॥੮੦੬॥

The warriors of both sides were killed and for two pehars (about six houts) the war continued; all the forces of Ram were killed and now he survived alone.806.

ਤਿਹੂੰ ਭ੝ਰਾਤ ਬਿਨ੝ ਭੈ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਅਰ੝ ਸਭ ਦਲਹਿੰ ਸੰਘਾਰ ॥ ਲਵ ਅਰ ਕ੝ਸ ਜੂਝਨ ਨਿਮਿਤ ਲੀਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਕਾਰ ॥੮੦੭॥

Lava and Kusha killed the three brothers and their forces fearlessly and now they challenged Ram.807.

ਸੈਨਾ ਸਕਲ ਜ੝ਝਾਇ ਕੈ ਕਤਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਛਪਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਅਬ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਤ੝ਮਹੂੰ ਲਰੋ ਸ੝ਨਿ ਸ੝ਨਿ ਕਉਸਲ ਰਾਇ ॥੮੦੮॥

The boys (of the sage) said to Ram, "O, the King of Kaushal! You have got all your army killed and where are you hiding now? Now come and fight with us."808.

ਨਿਰਖਿ ਬਾਲ ਨਿਜ ਰੂਪ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਹੇ ਬੈਨ ਮ੝ਸਕਾਇ ॥ ਕਵਨ ਤਾਤ ਬਾਲਕ ਤ੝ਮੈ ਕਵਨ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥੮੦੯॥

Seeing the children as his own replica, Ram asked smilingly, "O boys ! who are your parents?"809.

ਅਕਰਾ ਛੰਦ ॥

AKRAA STANZA

ਮਿਥਲਾ ਪ੝ਰ ਰਾਜਾ ॥ ਜਨਕ ਸ੝ਭਾਜਾ ॥ ਤਿਹ ਸਿਸ ਸੀਤਾ ॥ ਅਤਿ ਸ੝ਭ ਗੀਤਾ ॥੮੧੦॥

Sita, the daughter of the king Janak of Mithilapur is beautiful like a propitious song;810.

ਸੋ ਬਨਿ ਆਝ ॥ ਤਿਹ ਹਮ ਜਾਝ ॥ ਹੈਂ ਦ੝ਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਸ੝ਨਿ ਰਘ੝ਰਾਈ ॥੮੧੧॥॥

O the king of Raghu clan ! she has come to the forest and given birth to us and we are two brothers."811.

ਸ੝ਨਿ ਸੀਅ ਰਾਨੀ ॥ ਰਘ੝ਬਰ ਜਾਨੀ ॥ ਚਿਤਿ ਪਹਿਚਾਨੀ ॥ ਮ੝ਖ ਨ ਬਖਾਨੀ ॥੮੧੨॥

When Sita heard and came to know about Ram, she then, even recognizing him, did not utter a word from her mouth.812.

ਤਿਹ ਸਿਸ ਮਾਨਿਯੋ ॥ ਅਤਿ ਬਲ ਜਾਨਿਯੋ ॥ ਹਠਿ ਰਣ ਕੀਨੋ ॥ ਕਹ ਨਹੀ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੮੧੩॥

She forbade her sons and told them, "Ram is extremely mighty, you are persistently waging a war against him." Saying this even Sita did not say the whole thing.813.

ਕਸਿ ਸਰ ਮਾਰੇ ॥ ਸਿਸ ਨਹੀ ਹਾਰੇ ॥ ਬਹ੝ ਬਿਧ ਬਾਣੰ ॥ ਅਤਿ ਧਨ੝ ਤਾਣੰ ॥੮੧੪॥

Those boys did not retreat and accept defeat and discharged their arrows with full force after stretching their bows.814.

ਅੰਗ ਅੰਗ ਬੇਧੇ ॥ ਸਭ ਤਨ ਛੇਦੇ ॥ ਸਭ ਦਲ ਸੂਝੇ ॥ ਰਘ੝ਬਰ ਜੂਝੇ ॥੮੧੫॥

Al the limbs of Ram were pierced and his whole body eroded, the whole army came to know this that Ram had passed away.815.

ਜਬ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਮਾਰੇ ॥ ਸਭ ਦਲ ਹਾਰੇ ॥ ਬਹ੝ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਾਗੇ ॥ ਦ੝ਝ ਸਿਸ ਆਗੇ ॥੮੧੬॥

When Ram passed away, then the whole army began to flee accordingly in front of those two boys.816.

ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਨਿਹਾਰੈਂ ॥ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਨ ਚਿਤਾਰੈਂ ॥ ਗ੝ਰਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਲੀਨਾ ॥ ਅਸ ਰਣ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੮੧੭॥

They were not even turning around to see Ram, and being helpless they fled away to whichever side they could.817.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥

CHAUPAI

ਤਬ ਦ੝ਹੂੰ ਬਾਲ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਦੇਖਾ ॥ ਮਨੋ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕ੝ਰੀੜਾ ਬਨ੝ ਪੇਖਾ ॥

Then both the boys without any anxiety, looked towards the battlefield like Rudra surveying the forest;

ਕਾਟ ਧ੝ਜਨ ਕੇ ਬ੝ਰਿੱਛ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥ ਭੂਖਨ ਅੰਗ ਅਨੂਪ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥੮੧੮॥

The banners were cut and attached to the trees and the unique ornaments of the soldiers were removed from their limbs and thrown away.818.

ਮੂਰਛ ਭਝ ਸਭ ਲਝ ਉਠਾਈ ॥ ਬਾਜ ਸਹਿਤ ਤਹ ਗੇ ਜਹ ਮਾਈ ॥

Those who were unconscious, the boys raised them and reached the place alongwith the horses, where Sita was sitting;

ਦੇਖਿ ਸੀਅ ਪਤਿ ਮ੝ਖ ਰੋ ਦੀਨਾ ॥ ਕਹਿਯੋ ੝ਪ੝ਤ੝ਰ ਬਿਧਵਾ ਮ੝ਹਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥੮੧੯॥

Seeing her dead husband Sita said, "O sons ! you have made me a widow."819.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੝ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੝ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਰਾਮਵਤਾਰੇ ਲਵ ਬਾਜ ਬਾਂਧਵੇ ਰਾਮ ਬਧਹ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ॥
