तब गिरियो दानव सढ़ भूमि मढ़ध ॥ तिह बिसढ़ध जाण नही कीयो बढ़ध ॥७८५॥

Now begins the story of battle by Bharath.

ਅੜੂਹਾ ਛੰਦ ॥

AROOHAA STANZA

ਭਾਗ ਗਯੋ ਦਲ ਤ੝ਰਾਸ ਕੈ ਕੈ ॥ ਲਛਮਣੰ ਰਣ ਭੂਮਿ ਦੈ ਕੈ ॥

Making a sacrifice of Lakshman in the war, his army, being frightened fled away;

ਖਲੇ ਰਾਮਚੰਦ ਹ੝ਤੇ ਜਹਾਂ ॥ ਭਟ ਭਾਜਿ ਭੱਗ ਲਗੇ ਤਹਾਂ ॥੭੭੧॥

The warriors reached the place where Ram was standing.771.

ਜਬ ਜਾਇ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੀ ਉਨੈ ॥ ਬਹ੝ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਸੋਕ ਦਯੋ ਤਿਨੈ ॥

When all the events were related to him, he was in great anguish;

ਸ੝ਨਿ ਬੈਨ ਮੋਨ ਰਹੈ ਬਲੀ ॥ ਜਨ ਚਿੱਤ੝ਰ ਪਾਹਨ ਕੀ ਖਲੀ ੭੭੨॥

Hearing their word the mighty sovereign remained silent like a portrait, becoming like a stone-slab.772.

ਪ੝ਨਿ ਬੈਠਿ ਮੰਤ੝ਰ ਬਿਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥ ਤ੝ਮ ਜਾਹ੝ ਭਰਥ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

Then sitting down, he held consultations and addressing Bharat, he asked him to go, saying,

ਮ੝ਨ ਬਾਲ ਦ੝ਵੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਾਰੀਯੋ ॥ ਧਰਿ ਆਨਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਰੀਯੋ ॥੭੭੩॥

Do not kill the boys of the sages, but bring them and show them to me."773.

ਸਜ ਸੈਨ ਭਰਥ ਚਲੇ ਤਹਾਂ ॥ ਰਣਿ ਬਾਲ ਬੀਰ ਮੰਡੇ ਜਹਾਂ ॥

Bharat decorating his army marched to the place where the boys were standing ready (for war);

ਬਹ੝ ਭਾਤਿ ਬੀਰ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਹੀ ॥ ਸਰ ਓਘ ਪ੝ਰਓਘ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰ ਹੀ ॥੭੭੪॥

They were ready to kill the warriors by striking blows with many types of arrows.774.

ਸ੝ਗ੝ਰੀਵ ਔਰ ਬਿਭੀਛਨੰ ॥ ਹਨ੝ਵੰਤ ਅੰਗਦ ਰੀਛਨੰ ॥

Alongwith Sugriva, Vibhishan, Hanuman, Angad, Jambvant,

ਬਹ੝ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਸੈਨ ਬਨਾਇਕੈ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਪੈ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਸਮ੝ਹਾਇਕੈ ॥੭੭੫॥

And with their various types of forces, Bharat went forward towards the brave boys.775.

ਰਣ ਭੂਮਿ ਭਰਥ ਗਝ ਜਬੈ ॥ ਮ੝ਨਿ ਬਾਲ ਦੋਇ ਲਖੇ ਤਬੈ ॥

When Bharat reached the battlefield, he saw both the boys of sages;

ਦ੝ਇ ਕਾਕ ਪੱਛਾ ਸੋਭਹੀ ॥ ਲਖਿ ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨੋ ਲੋਭਹੀ ॥੭੭੬॥

Both boys looked impressive and both the gods and demons were allured on seeing them.776.

ਭਰਥ ਬਾਚ ਲਵ ਸੋ ॥

Speech of Bharat addressed to Lava :

ਅਕੜਾ ਛੰਦ ॥

ਮ੝ਨਿ ਬਾਲ ਛਾਡਹ੝ ਗਰਬ ॥ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਨਿ ਮੋਹੂ ਸਰਬ ॥

O boys of the sages ! forsake your pride, come and meet me;

ਲੈ ਜਾਂਹਿ ਰਾਘਵ ਤੀਰ ॥ ਤ੝ਹਿ ਨੇਕ ਦੈ ਕੈ ਚੀਰ ॥੭੭੭॥

I shall dress you and take you to (Raghava) Ram."777.

ਸ੝ਨਤੇ ਭਰੇ ਸਿਸ ਮਾਨ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਤਾਨਿ ਕਮਾਨ ॥

Hearing these words the boys were filled with pride and being enraged they pulled their bows;

ਬਹ੝ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਸਾਇਕ ਛੋਰਿ ॥ ਜਨ ਅਭ੝ਰ ਸਾਵਣ ਓਰ ॥੭੭੮॥

They discharged many arrows like the clouds of the month of Sawan.778.

ਲਾਗੇ ਸ੝ ਸਾਇਕ ਅੰਗ ॥ ਗਿਰਗੇ ਸ੝ ਬਾਹ ਉਤੰਗ ॥

Those, whom those arrows struck, fell down and overturned;

ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਭੰਗ ਸ੝ਬਾਹ੝ ॥ ਕਹੂੰ ਚਉਰ ਚੀਰ ਸਨਾਹ੝ ॥੭੭੯॥

Somewhere those arrows chopped the limbs and somewhere they penetrated through the fly-whisk and armour.779.

ਕਹੂੰ ਚਿੱਤ੝ਰ ਚਾਰ੝ ਕਮਾਨ ॥ ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਜੋਧਨ ਬਾਨ ॥

Somewhere they created portraits on coming out of the beautiful bows and somewhere they pierced the limbs of the warriors;

ਕਹੂੰ ਅੰਗ ਘਾਇ ਭਭੱਕ ॥ ਕਹੂੰ ਸ੝ਰੋਣ ਸਰਤ ਛਲੱਕ ॥੭੮੦॥

Somewhere the wound of the limbs burst open and somewhere the stream of blood overflowed.780.

ਕਹੂੰ ਭੂਤ ਪ੝ਰੇਤ ਭਕੰਤ ॥ ਸ੝ ਕਹੂੰ ਕਮੱਧ ਉਠੰਤ ॥

Somewhere the ghosts and fiends shouted and somewhere the headless trunks began to rise in the battlefield;

ਕਹੂੰ ਨਾਚ ਬੀਰ ਬੈਤਾਲ ॥ ਸੋ ਬਮਤ ਡਾਕਣਿ ਜ੝ਆਲ ॥੭੮੧॥

Somewhere the brave Baitals danced and somewhere the Vampires raised flames of fire.781.

ਰਣ ਘਾਇ ਘਾਝ ਵੀਰ ॥ ਸਭ ਸ੝ਰੋਣ ਭੀਗੇ ਚੀਰ ॥

The garments of warriors were saturated with blood, on being wounded in the battlefield;

ਇਕ ਬੀਰ ਭਾਜਿ ਚਲੰਤ ॥ ਇਕ ਆਨਿ ਜ੝ੱਧ ਜ੝ਟੰਤ ॥੭੮੨॥

On one side the warriors are running away and on the other side they are coming and fighting in the war.782.

ਇਕ ਝਂਚਿ ਝਂਚ ਕਮਾਨਿ ॥ ਤਕਿ ਵੀਰ ਮਾਰਤ ਬਾਨ ॥

On one side, the warriors are stretching their bows and discharging arrows;

ਇਕ ਭਾਜਿ ਭਾਜਿ ਮਰੰਤ ॥ ਨਹੀ ਸ੝ਰਗਿ ਤਉਨ ਬਸੰਤ ॥੭੮੩॥

On the other side they are running away and brathing their last, but not getting a place in the heaven.783.

ਗਜ ਰਾਜ ਬਾਜ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ ਜ੝ੱਝੇ ਨ ਬਾਚਾ ਝਕ ॥

Many elephants and horses died and not even one was saved;

ਤਬ ਆਨਿ ਲੰਕਾ ਨਾਥ ॥ ਜ੝ੱਝਿਯੋ ਸਿਸਨ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ॥੭੮੪॥

Then Vibhishan, the Lord of Lanka, fought with the boys.784.

ਬਹੋੜਾ ਛੰਦ ॥

BAHORA STANZA

ਲੰਕੇਸ ਕੇ ਉਰ ਮੋ ਤਕਿ ਬਾਨ ॥ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਸਤ ਤਜਿ ਕਾਨ ॥

The sons of Ram pulling their bows shot an arrow in the heart of the king of Lanka;

ਤਬ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਦਾਨਵ ਸ੝ ਭੂਮਿ ਮੱਧ ॥ ਤਿਹ ਬਿਸ੝ਧ ਜਾਣ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਯੋ ਬੱਧ ॥੭੮੫॥

That demon fell down on the earth and considering him unconscious, the boys did not kill him.785.

ਤਬ ਰ੝ਕਿਯੋ ਤਾਸ ਸ੝ਗ੝ਰੀਵ ਆਨਿ ॥ ਕਹਾ ਜਾਤ ਬਾਲ ਨਹੀ ਪੈਸ੝ ਜਾਨ ॥

Then Sugriva came and stopped there and said, "O boys ! where are you going? You cannot get away and remain safe.

ਤਬ ਹਣਿਯੋ ਬਾਣ ਤਿਹ ਭਾਲਿ ਤਕਿ ॥ ਤਿਹ ਲਗਿਯੋ ਭਾਲ ਮੋ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਚੱਕ ॥੭੮੬॥

Then the boys of the sage made a target of his forehead and shot his arrow which struck his forehead and feeling the sharpness of the arrow, he became actionless.786.

ਚਪ ਚਲੀ ਸੈਣ ਕਪਣੀ ਸ੝ ਕ੝ਰ੝ੱਧ ॥ ਨਲ ਨੀਲ ਹਨੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਸ੝ ਜ੝ੱਧ ॥

On seeing this the whole army was pressed and in great fury, they began to fight alongwith Nal, Neel, Hanuman and Angad;

ਤਬ ਤੀਨ ਤੀਨ ਲੈ ਬਾਲ ਬਾਨ ॥ ਤਿਹ ਹਣੋ ਭਾਲ ਮੋ ਰੋਸ ਠਾਨਿ ॥੭੮੭॥

Then the boys took three arrows each and shot them on the foreheads of all.787.

ਜੋ ਗਝ ਸੂਰ ਸੋ ਰਹੇ ਖੇਤਿ ॥ ਜੋ ਬਚੇ ਭਾਜਿ ਤੇ ਹ੝ਇ ਅਚੇਤ ॥

Those who remained in the field, they embraced death an those who survived lost their senses and ran away;

ਤਬ ਤਕਿ ਤਕਿ ਸਿਸ ਕਸਿ ਬਾਣ ॥ ਦਲ ਹਤਿਯੋ ਰਾਘਵੀ ਤਜਿ ਕਾਣਿ ॥੭੮੮॥

Then those boys tightly shot their arrows on their arrows on their targets and destroyed fearlessly the forces of Ram.788.

ਅਨੂਪ ਨਿਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥

ANOOP NIRAAJ STANZA

ਸ੝ ਕੋਪਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਬਲੰ ਸ੝ ਕ੝ਰ੝ੱਧ ਰਾਘਵੀ ਸਿਸੰ ॥ ਬਚਿੱਤ੝ਰ ਚਿੱਤ੝ਰਤ ਸਰੰ ਬਬਰਖ ਬਰਖਣੋ ਰਣੰ ॥

Seeing the strength and rage of the boys (sons) of Ram and visualizing that volley of arrows in that wonderful type of war,

ਭਭੱਜਿ ਆਸ੝ਰੀ ਸ੝ਤੰ ਉਠੰਤ ਭੈਕਰੀ ਧ੝ਨੰ ॥ ਭ੝ਰਮੰਤ ਕ੝ੰਡਲੀ ਕ੝ਰਿਤੰ ਪਪੀੜ ਦਾਰਣੰ ਸਰੰ ॥੭੮੯॥

The army of demons, raising terrible sound, fled away and wandered circularly.789.

ਘ੝ਮੰਤ ਘਾਇਲੋ ਘਣੰ ਤਤੱਛ ਬਾਣਣੋ ਬਰੰ ॥ ਭਭੱਜ ਕਾਤਰੋ ਕਿਤੰ ਗਜੰਤ ਜੋਧਣੋ ਜ੝ੱਧੰ ॥

Many wounded warriors after being shot by sharp arrows began to wander and many warriors began to wander and many warriors began to roar and many of them becoming helpless breathed their last;

ਚਲੰਤ ਤੀਛਣੋ ਅਸੰ ਖਿਮੰਤ ਧਾਰ ਉੱਜਲੰ ॥ ਪਪਾਤ ਅੰਗਦ ਕੇਸਰੀ ਹਨੂ ਵ ਸ੝ਗ੝ਰਿਵੰ ਬਲੰ ॥੭੯੦॥

The sharp sword of white edges were struck in the battlefield, the strength of Angad, Hanuman, Sugriva etc. began to wean away.790.

ਗਿਰੰਤ ਆਸ੝ਰੰ ਰਣੰ ਭਭਰਮ ਆਸ੝ਰੀ ਸਿਸੰ ॥ ਤਜੰਤ ਸ੝ਆਮਣੋ ਧਰੰ ਭਜੰਤ ਪ੝ਰਾਨ ਲੈ ਭਟੰ ॥

The demons began to fall in the battlefield and they got this illusion that these boys were the magical demon boys, they began to leave the earth and flee away saving their lives;

ਉਠੰਤ ਅੰਧ ਧ੝ੰਧਣੋ ਕਬੰਧ ਬੰਧਤੰ ਕਟੰ ॥ ਲਗੰਤ ਬਾਣਣੋ ਬਰੰ ਗਿਰੰਤ ਭੂਮਿ ਅਹਵਯੰ ॥੭੯੧॥

Headless trunks, chopping their shackles began to rise violently and being shot by the arrows began to fall again in the battlefield.791.

ਪਪਾਤ ਤ੝ਰਿਛਣੰ ਧਰੰ ਬਬੇਗ ਮਾਰ੝ਤ ਜਣੰ ॥ ਭਰੰਤ ਧੂਰਿ ਭੂਰਣੰ ਬਮੰਤ ਸ੝ਰੋਣਤੰ ਮ੝ਖੰ ॥

The warriors being shot by arrows quickly began to fall on the earth, the dust clung to their bodies and the blood oozed out from their mouths;

ਚਿਕਾਰ ਚਾਵਡੀ ਨਭੰ ਫਿਕੰਤ ਫਿੰਕਰੀ ਫਿਰੰ ॥ ਭਕਾਰ ਭੂਤ ਪ੝ਰੇਤਣੰ ਡਿਕਾਰ ਡਾਕਣੀ ਡ੝ਲੰ ॥੭੯੨॥

The vultures shrieked and roamed circularly in the sky , the ghosts and fiends began to shout in the battlefield and the vampires roamed while belching. 792.

ਗਿਰੈ ਧਰੰ ਧ੝ਰੰ ਧਰੰ ਧਰਾ ਧਰੰ ਧਰੰ ਜਿਵੰ ॥ ਭਭੱਜਿ ਸ੝ਰਉਣਤੰ ਤਣੇ ਉਠੰਤ ਭੈ ਕਰੀ ਧ੝ਨੰ ॥

The warriors, on whatever side of the earth they were, began to fal, the blood flowed from the bodies of the fleeing warriors and there were terrible shouts;

ਉਠੰਤ ਗੱਦ ਸੱਦਣੰ ਨਨੱਦ ਨਿਫਿਰੰ ਰਣੰ ॥ ਬਬਰਖ ਸਾਇਕੰ ਸਿਤੰ ਘ੝ਮੰਤ ਜੋਧਣੋ ਬ੝ਰਣੰ ॥੭੯੩॥

The resonance of fifes filled the battlefield and the clusters of warriors showering the arrows and being inflicted with wounds began to wander.793.

ਭਜੰਤ ਭੈ ਧਰੰ ਭਟੰ ਬਿਲੋਕ ਭਰਥਣੋ ਰਣੰ ॥ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਚਿਰਾਇਕੈ ਚਪੀ ਬਬਰਖ ਸਾਇਕੋ ਸਿਤੰ ॥

Seeing the war of Bharat, many warriors began to run away fearfully. On this side, in great fury, Bharat began to shower arrows.

ਸ੝ ਕ੝ਰ੝ੱਧ ਸਾਇਕੰ ਸਿਸੰ ਬਬੱਧ ਭਾਲਣੋ ਭਟੰ ॥ ਪਪਾਤ ਪ੝ਰਿਥਵੀਯੰ ਹਠੀ ਮਮੋਹ ਆਸ੝ਰਮੰ ਗਤੰ ॥੭੯੪॥

The sons of the sage in great ire showered a volley of arrows and caused Bharat to fall on the earth.794.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੝ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੝ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਰਾਮਾਵਤਾਰੇ ਭਰਥ ਬਧਹਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਮਾਪਤੰ ॥
