On April 12, Seven Nihang looking Sikhs attacked Punjab policemen and chopped off hand of a cop, Harjeet Singh, when they tried to stop them due to Corona Lockdown in India.

Whole Indian Media and official continuously spoiled image of Nihangs without knowing reality of accused.

Nihang leader Baba Balbir Singh, the head of the Buddha Dal Nihang faction—one of the biggest and richest in the country confirmed that men do not belong to their Nihang sect and strictest action should be taken against them.

Baba Balbir Singh said the police was doing their service and wasn’t at fault in the incident.

Baba Balbir Singh asked for a thorough investigation on the persons involved in the incident. He went onto say that Nihang Singhs have contributed a lot to the country of India and have always contributed to the nation. He emphasized that Nihang Singhs have arranged langar to those during the Covid 19 crisis.

The Punjab Police managed to arrest all the ‘Nihangs’ look alike, who were hiding in Gurudwara Khichri Sahib, Balbera.

They were asked to show (curfew) passes. But they crashed the vehicle against the gate and barricades put up there,” Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, Mandeep Singh Sidhu said. The group then attacked the police personnel on duty, he said. Soon after the incident, the Punjab police teams, led by Patiala SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu, had reached the Gurdwara Khichri Sahib and urged the ‘Nihangs’ to surrender. The police sealed the area around the gurdwara and the village with three-tier security so that no one can escape. Now that they are arrested, the police will take the investigation further. Three pistols, petrol bombs, swords, sacks of poppy husk and LPG cylinders were recovered from gurdwara, the DGP said, adding that the searches were still on.

Assistant Sub Inspector Harjeet Singh's seven-and-a-half hour surgery at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh was completed successfully, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh informed on Twitter.
