He joined the Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar in the South Indian state of Karnataka to further his studies.

How he was affected by his surroundings

During Anti-Sikh Riots of Bidar on September 14 - 16 of 1988, Hindu mobs attacked the Sikh students and other Sikh civilians, Sikh properties and killed at least 6 Sikh students, injured about 100 and burnt several Sikh properties.[1][2][3] [4]. As per Human Rights Watchdog, the communal chauvinists ran amuck and innocent students and persons belonging to the Sikh community were subjected to untold miseries during these riots. Affected by this incident, he went back to Punjab and enrolled at the Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, Punjab, India. This was the period when thousands of Khalistan suspects were being killed in staged shootouts and thousands of bodies were being cremated and/or disposed without proper identification or post-mortems by Government Security Forces in Punjab. [5][6][7][8]. Several Sikh women were reportedly being gang-raped and molested by Indian security forces during house to house searches. Villagers' properties were being looted and the ransacking of the entire villages was happening.[9][10].

They made two failed attempts on 6th and 9th of september, 1993. On 6th September, 1993, their Bomb explosion mechanism did not work and they could not trigger the blast. On 9th September, 1993, MS Bitta did not come to the office.
