Kharag Singh and Lord Shiva
Khadag Singh was a Great King who destroyed Mahadev Shiv in a Battle, chapter includes in Dasam Granth.
ਅੜਿਲ ॥
ARIL
ਭਾਜ ਜੱਛ ਸਭ ਗਝ ਤਬਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਹਾ ਬਲ ॥ ਰਦਰਾਅਸਤਰ ਦੀਯੋ ਛਾਡ ਸ ਕੰਪਯੋ ਤਲ ਬਿਤਲ ॥
When all the Yakshas had run away, then the mighty Krishna discharged Rudrastra (the arm in relation to Rudra), which made the earth and the nether-world tremble;
ਤਬ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੂ ਉਠ ਧਾਝ ਸੂਲ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਕੈ ॥ ਹੋ ਕਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਯੋ ਹਮੈ ਇਹੈ ਜੀਅ ਧਾਰ ਕੈ ॥੧੪੯੯॥
Then Shiva holding his trident got up and ran; he reflected how the Lord Krishna had remembered him?1499.
ਸੰਗ ਰੱਦਰ ਕੈ ਰੱਦਰ ਚਲੇ ਭਟ ਉਠ ਤਬੈ ॥ ਝਕ ਰਦਨ ਜੂ ਚਲੇ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਦਲ ਸਬੈ ॥
Rudra and his other warriors started moving alongwith him; Ganesh also accompanied with all his army;
ਔਰ ਸਕਲ ਗਨ ਚਲੇ ਸ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਸੰਭਾਰ ਕੈ ॥ ਹੋ ਕੌਨ ਅਜਿਤ ਪਰਗਟਯੋ ਭਵ ਕਹੈਂ ਬਿਚਾਰ ਕੈ ॥੧੫੦੦॥
All other ganas, taking up their weapons, moved along; they were all thinking as to who was that mighty hero born in the world, for killing whom, they had been called.1500.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
DOHRA
ਕੋ ਭਟ ਉਪਜਿਯੋ ਜਗਤ ਮੈਂ ਸਭ ਯੌ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਸਿਖਿ ਬਾਹਰ ਗਨ ਸਹਿਤ ਆਝ ਰਨ ਰਿਸਿ ਧਾਰ ॥੧੫੦੧॥
All of them are thinking as to who can be that mighty one born in the world; the god Shiva and his ganas, in their fury, came out of their abodes.1501.
ਪਰਲੈ ਕਾਲ ਕਰਤਾ ਜਹੀਂ ਆਝ ਤਿਹ ਜਾ ਦੌਹ ॥ ਰਨ ਨਿਹਾਰ ਮਨ ਮੈ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਇਹ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕੀ ਠੌਰ ॥੧੫੦੨॥
When the god of dissolution came himself in the battlefield, them the field itself indeed became the field of anxiety.1502.
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
DOHRA
ਗਨ ਗਨੇਸ਼ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਖਟ ਬਦਨ ਦੇਖੈ ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰ ॥ ਸੋ ਰਿਸ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਜੱਧ ਹਿਤ ਲੀਨੇ ਆਪ ਹਕਾਰ ॥੧੫੦੩॥
Already when Ganesh, Shiva, Dattatreya and ganas were viewing the battlefield, there and then the king himself challenged them to fight.1503.
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
SWAYYA
ਰੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਆਜ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਮੈ ਲਰਿ ਕੈ ਹਮ ਸੋ ਕਰ ਲੈ ਬਲ ਜੇਤੋ ॥ ਝ ਰੇ ਗਨੇਸ਼ ਲਰੈਂ ਹਮਰੇ ਸੰਗ ਹੈ ਤਮਰੇ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਬਲ ਝਤੋ ॥
O Shiva ! whatever strength you have today, use it in this war; O Ganesh ! do have so much strength as to fight with me?
ਕਿਉ ਰੇ ਖੜਾਨਨ ਤੂੰ ਗਰਬੈ ਮਰ ਹੈ ਅਬਹੀ ਇਕ ਬਾਨ ਲਗੈ ਤੋ ॥ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਜੂਝ ਮਰੋ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਅਬ ਲਉ ਨ ਗਯੋ ਕਛ ਜੀਅ ਮਹਿ ਚੇਤੋ ॥੧੫੦੪॥
Hello Kartikeya ! for what you are becoming egoistic? You will be killed with one arrow; still nothing has gone wrong, why do you want to die while fighting in the war?"1504.
ਸ਼ਿਵਜੂ ਵਾਚ ਖੜਗੇਸ਼ ਸੋ ॥
Speech of Shiva addressed to Kharag Singh:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
SWAYYA
ਬੋਲਿ ਉਠਯੋ ਰਿਸਿ ਕੈ ਸ਼ਿਵਜੂ ਅਰੇ ਕਿਉ ਸਨ ਤੂੰ ਗਰਬਾਤ ਹੈ ਝਤੋ ॥ ਝਤਨ ਸਿਉ ਜਿਨ ਰਾਰ ਮੰਡੋ ਅਬਿ ਹੀ ਲਖਿ ਹੈ ਹਮ ਮੈ ਬਲ ਜੇਤੋ ॥
Shiva spoke in anger, "O king ! why are you so proud? Do not indulge in strife with us; you will see just now what strength we have!
ਜੋ ਤਮ ਮੈ ਅਤਿ ਪਉਰਖ ਹੈ ਅਬ ਢੀਲ ਕਹਾ ਧਨ ਬਾਨਹ ਲੇਤੋ ॥ ਜੇਤੋਹੈ ਦੀਰਘ ਗਾਤ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਸ ਬਾਨਨ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਹੋ ਲਹ ਤੇਤੋ ॥੧੫੦੫॥
If you have greater courage, then why are you delaying, why do you not take your bow and arrows in your hands? You have a very large body and by piercing it with my arrows, I shall lighten it."1505.
ਖੜਗੇਸ਼ ਬਾਚ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਸੋ ॥
Speech of Kharag Singh addressed to Shiva:
ਸਵੈਯਾ ॥
SWAYYA
ਕਿਉ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਮਾਨ ਕਰੈ ਇਤਨੋ ਭਜਿ ਹੈ ਤਬਹੀ ਜਬ ਮਾਰ ਮਚੈਗੀ ॥ ਝਕ ਹੀ ਬਾਨ ਲਗੈ ਕਪ ਜਿਉ ਸਿਗਰੀ ਤਮਰੀ ਅਬ ਸੈਨ ਨਚੈਗੀ ॥
O Shiva ! why are you so proud? Now when there will be dreadful fighting, you will run away; with the infliction of a single arrow, all your army will dance like a monkey;
ਭੂਤ ਪਿਸਾਚਨ ਕੀ ਧਜਨੀ ਮਰਿ ਹੈ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਨਹੀ ਨੈਕ ਬਚੈਗੀ ॥ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਸਰਉਨਤ ਸੋ ਸਨਿ ਆਜ ਧਰਾ ਇਹ ਆਰਨ ਬੇਖ ਰਚੈਗੀ ॥੧੫੦੬॥
All the army of the ghosts and fiends will be vanquished and there will be no survivor; O Shiva ! listen, this earth saturated with your blood will wear the red garb today."1506.
ਤੋਟਕ ਛੰਦ ॥
TOTAK STANZA
ਸ਼ਿਵ ਯੋਂ ਸਨਿ ਕੈ ਧਨ ਬਾਨ ਲੀਯੋ ॥ ਕਸ ਕਾਨ ਪਰਮਾਨ ਲਉ ਛਾਡ ਦੀਯੋ ॥ ਨਰਿਪ ਕੇ ਮਖ ਲਾਗ ਬਿਰਾਜ ਰਹਯੋ ॥ ਖਗਰਾਜ ਮਨੋ ਅਹਿਰਾਜ ਗਹਯੋ ॥੧੫੦੭॥
Hearing these words, Shiva held up his bow and arrows and pulling his bow upto his ear, he discharged the arrow, which struck the face of the king; it appeared that Garuda had caught the king of the snakes.1507.
ਬਰਛੀ ਤਬ ਭੂਪ ਚਲਾਇ ਦਈ ॥ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਕੇ ਉਰ ਮੈ ਲਗ ਕਰਾਂਤ ਭਈ ॥ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਬਿ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਭਾਂਤ ਕਹੀ ॥ ਰਵਿ ਕੀ ਕਰਿਨ ਕੰਜ ਪੈ ਮੰਡ ਰਹੀ ॥੧੫੦੮॥
Then the king struck his lance, which hit the chest of Shiva; it appeared that the ray of the sun was hovering over the lotus.1508.
ਤਬ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਖੈਂਚ ਨਿਕਾਰੀ ॥ ਗਹਿ ਡਾਰ ਦਈ ਮਨੋ ਨਾਗਨ ਕਾਰੀ ॥ਬਹਰੋ ਨਰਿਪ ਮਯਾਨ ਤੇ ਖਗ ਨਿਕਾਰਯੋ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਬਲ ਕੌ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਊਪਰ ਡਾਰਯੋ ॥੧੫੦੯॥
Then Shiva pulled it out with both his hands and threw that lance like a black she-serpent on the earth; then the king drew out his sword from the scabbard and with great force struck its blow on Shiva.1509.
ਹਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਗਿਰ ਭੂਮ ਪਰਯੋ ॥ ਮਨੋ ਬੱਜਰ ਪਰਯੋ ਗਿਰ ਸਰਿੰਗ ਝਰਯੋ ॥ਇਹ ਰੱਦਰ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਸਬ ਸੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ ਬਰਛੀ ਤਬਹੀ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਪੂਤ ਸੰਭਾਰੀ ॥੧੫੧੦॥
Shiva became unconscious and fell on the ground like the peak of the mountain falling down with the blow of vajra; when the army saw this condition of Shiva, then Ganesh, the son of Shiva, took the lance in his hand.1510.
