It is literally praise of the Khalsa, it is a short poem by GURU Cobind SINGH inserted at the end oftlic thirtythree Savaiyyc in the Dasam Granth. The language is Braj Bhasa, i.e. medieval Hindi of the Mathura/Agra region. The setting is provided by an incident which occurred during a Divali feast Guru Gobind Singh gave at ANANDPUR. On that occasion the high caste Pandit Kcsho was inivited to eat after the Khalsa had feasted. Kcsho fell slighted for, as a Brahman, he believed that he should have been served first.

This is the name given to the tenth Bani in the second holy scriptures of the Sikhs called the Dasam Granth. This text spans from page 1355 to page 1356 of the 1478 pages of this holy book of the Sikhs. (Original text is over 1428 pages)

"I have won my battles through the favour of my SIKHS,
Through their favour have I been able to dispense largess,
Through their favour my troubles have receded,
And through their favour my prosperity expanded.
It is through their favour that I acquired knowledge.
Through their favour I subdued my enemies,
Through their favour am I exalted,
There are, else, millions of such humble persons as me.
Let my body, my mind, my head, my wealth, and all that is mine
Be dedicated to their service."

As in the hukamndmds, in this poem also we see the deep fellow feeling that existed between Guru Gobind Singh and his Khalsa.

ਯਾ ਮੈ ਰੰਚ ਨ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਭਾਖੀ ॥ ya mai ranch n mithhia bhakhee I have not told you even a little lie
ਪਾਰਬ੝ਰਹਮ ਗ੝ਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਖੀ ॥ parabreham gur naanak sakhee Perfect saint Guru Nanak is my witness,
ਰੋਮ ਰੋਮ ਜੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਪਾਂਊ ॥ rom rom jae rasana panoo If all my pores could speak,
ਤਦਪ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਜਸ ਤਹਿ ਗਾਊਂ ॥ thadhap khhalasa jas thehi gaoon with all, I would sing Khalsa's praise.
ਹੌ ਖ਼ਾਲਸੇ ਕੋ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਮੇਰੋ ॥ ha khhalasae ko khhalasa maero I belong to the Khalsa; the Khalsa belongs to me,
ਓਤ ਪੋਤਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਬੂੰਦੇਰੋ ॥ outh poth sagar boondhaero In the wild sea, they provide shelter
ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਅਕਾਲ ਪ੝ਰਖ ਕੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ॥ khhalasa akal purakh kee aj Khalsa is God's army
ਪ੝ਰਗਟਿਓ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਪ੝ਰਮਾਤਮ ਕੀ ਮੌਜ ॥ pragattiou khhalasa pramatham kee moj and it was created by His Will.
ਜਬ ਲਗ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਰਹੇ ਨਿਆਰਾ ॥ jab lag khhalasa rehae niara While the Khalsa stays true,
ਤਬ ਲਗ ਤੇਜ ਕੀਉ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰਾ ॥ thab lag thaej keeo main sara I will offer my full support
ਜਬ ਇਹ ਗਹੈ ਬਿਪਰਨ ਕੀ ਰੀਤ ॥ jab eih gehai biparan kee reeth When they follow the ways of others,
ਮੈਂ ਨ ਕਰੋਂ ਇਨ ਕੀ ਪ੝ਰਤੀਤ ॥ main n karon ein kee pratheeth I will withdraw my assistance from them.

ਪੂਰਨ ਜੋਤ ਜਗੈ ਘਟ ਮੈ ਤਬ ਖਾਲਸ ਤਾਹਿ ਨਖਾਲਸ ਜਾਨੈ ॥

ਜਾਗਿਤ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਪੈ ਨਿਸ ਬਾਸ੝ਰ ਝਕ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨ ਨੈਕ ਨ ਆਨੈ ॥
ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੝ਰੇਮ ਪ੝ਰਤੀਤ ਸਜੈ ਬ੝ਰਤ ਗੋਰ ਮੜ੝ਹੀ ਮਟ ਭੂਲ ਨ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
ਤੀਰਥ ਦਾਨ ਦਯਾ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਝਕ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹਿ ਝਕ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥

pooran joth jagai ghatt mai thab khalas thahi nakhalas janai.

jagith joth japai nis basur eaek bina man naik n anai.
pooran praem pratheeth sajai brath gor marrhee matt bhool n manai.
theerathh dhan dhaya thap sanjam eaek bina nehi eaek pashhanai.

Such a man, in whose heart shines the full Divinely Radiant Light is a true a pure Khalsa.

He the Khalsa meditates on the Ever-radiant Light, day and night, and rejects all else but the one Lord from the mind.
He decorates himself with perfect love and faith, and believed not in fasts, tombs, crematoriums and hermit cells, even by mistake.
He knows none except the one Lord in the performance of acts of pilgrimage, charities, compassion, austerities and self-control.
