Guru Gobind Singh sakhi

Guru Gobind Singh jee and his fauj were walking to Anandpur Sahib. Guru jee was on his horse.
they suddenly halted infront of a field on the journey home and they all stopped a few moments later Guru ji took the fauj back and told them they were to go another route home.
on the route one of the soliders ask guru ji " Guru ji why are we going the long way when we could have just walked through the field that we halted at and we would have reached our destination".
Guru ji replied " that field was a tobacco field and it was not me that halted my horse did. it refused to walk through such an unclean place"
so if my horse is not willing to enter the place of tobacco then niether should my Sikhs enter or be surrounded by such pollution" every action of our guru JEE was done for a reason. truly they were the bright light in this kalijug

"One person brings a full bottle, and another fills his cup. Drinking sharab, (alcohol), his intelligence departs, and madness enters his mind; he cannot distinguish between his own and others, and he is struck down by Waheguru, his Lord and Master. Drinking it, he forgets Waheguru, his Lord and Master, and he is punished in the Court of the Lord." (Ang 554, SGGS)

When Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj met Babar (1483-1530), the man who would become the first the Mughal Emperor of India, offered him a shared pipe of [Bhang], Nanak replied that he had a bhang whose wonderful effects never wore off. Inquiring of Nanak where he could find such wonderful bhang - Nanak declined the emperor's offer, saying GOD the [SAT GURU] was his bhang.

Extract from Rehat Maryada

"Those that consume even a minuscule amount of tobacco are disowned in the afterlife by their ancestors and drinking water from such a person is similar to drinking alcohol. By drinking alcohol seven generations are exterminated and by consuming Bhang/marajuana the body is destroyed. The person who consumes tobacco exterminates one hundred generations and many generations go to hell because of gossiping." (Sri Gur Partap Suraj, Rit 5, ansoo 29, volume 13)

Therefore in Gurmat the use of tobacco is strictly forbidden and it should not be touched/used even by mistake. Other religions have also forbade the use of tobacco, a Hindu Puran tells Hindus how to restrain from tobacco in the following way:

"The Brahmin that consumes tobacco is donated charity by others. Those that give charity to such a person Go to hell and the Brahmin becomes a pig." (Skandh Purana, Dh. 52, Salok 52)

The person, who uses tobacco and then gives charity to Brahmins, goes to Rorve Hell and the Brahmin who receives this charity becomes a pig, cleaning dirty drains and going through many hells. Satguru has made the use of tobacco a cardinal sin. You are not to eat with or marry your children into the families of those that consume, smoke or use tobacco.

Remember also your Guru gave you, your karra Kakkar (steel bracelet) your Guru is always with you do as your guru would with your actions.
