Diwan

Diwan is a punjabi word which means a "religious event" or gathering. This word was mostly used by the ancient Kings. Areas for such events can be seen in the designed and layout of forts of these Kings in India. In these Forts Big halls were built for such gatherings and even known by names that indicated their purpose, such as "Diwane-a-aam" or "Diwane-a-Khas".
