Charitar 329
Charitar 368 is Discussion between Chitra Singh and his Advisor, a tale which is present in Charitropakhyan, a bani of Guru Gobind Singh. It is about women's theft. It is story of Bijyawati Town, whose king was Bribharm Sain and his consort was Bihagarmati. These lived a Water puller woman who use to visit their house and give water to king. Once, she saw gold and she put it in her pitcher. She gave water to all people through that pitcher including queen and king but no one was able to catch her.
ਚੌਪਈ ॥
ਬਿਜਿਯਾਵਤੀ ਨਗਰ ਇਕ ਸੋਹੈ ॥ ਬਰਿਭਰਮ ਸੈਨ ਨਰਿਪਤਿ ਤਹ ਕੋਹੈ ॥
ਬਯਾਘਰ ਮਤੀ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਦਾਰਾ ॥ ਚੰਦਰ ਲਯੋ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਉਜਿਯਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
ਤਿਹ ਠਾ ਹਤੀ ਝਕ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ ਨਰਿਪ ਕੇ ਬਾਰ ਭਰਤ ਥੀ ਦਵਾਰੀ ॥
ਤਿਹ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਭੂਖਨ ਲਹਿ ਕੈ ॥ ਡਾਰਿ ਦਝ ਘਟ ਮੌ ਕਰ ਗਹਿ ਕੈ ॥੨॥
ਊਪਰ ਜਲ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਤਰ ਭੂਖਨ ॥ ਕਿਨੂੰ ਨ ਨਰ ਸਮਝਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਦੂਖਨ ॥
ਬਹ ਪਰਖਨ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਜਲ ਪੀਆ ॥ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਜਾਨਿ ਭੇਦ ਨਹਿ ਲੀਆ ॥੩॥
ਰਾਨੀਹੂੰ ਤਿਹ ਘਟਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥ ਦਰਿਸਟਿ ਨਰਿਪਤਿ ਕੀ ਤਰ ਸ ਨਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
ਕਾਹੂੰ ਬਾਤ ਲਖੀ ਨਹਿ ਗਈ ॥ ਭੂਖਨ ਜਾਤ ਨਾਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਈ ॥੪॥
ਇਤਿ ਸਰੀ ਚਰਿਤਰ ਪਖਯਾਨੇ ਤਰਿਯਾ ਚਰਿਤਰੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਬਾਦੇ ਤੀਨ ਸੌ ਉਨਤੀਸ ਚਰਿਤਰ ਸਮਾਪਤਮ ਸਤ ਸਭਮ ਸਤ ॥੩੨੯॥੬੧੭੮॥ਅਫਜੂੰ॥
Viewpoint
- Our carelessness leads to theft. it is mentioned in GUrbani that ਚੋਰ ਸਆਲਿਉ ਚੋਰ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥ i.e
A thief may be handsome, and a thief may be wise.
- Theif can use any way. The Pitcher which she used for suplying water, is used by her for wrong deed. Gurbani says:
ਚੋਰ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਚੀਤ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ॥
If a thief praises someone, his mind is not pleased.
ਜੇ ਬਦੀ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਤਸੂ ਨ ਛੀਜੈ ॥
If a thief curses him, no damage is done.
ਚੋਰ ਕੀ ਹਾਮਾ ਭਰੇ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
No one will take responsibility for a thief.
ਚੋਰ ਕੀਆ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਿਉ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
