Canada

Canada (IPA: /ˈkænədə/) is a country occupying most of northern North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area and shares land borders with the United States to the south and northwest.

Sikhs have been in Canada since 1897. One of the first Sikhs to arrive in Canada came following Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897 and was a retired British soldier. Many Sikhs who immigrated to Canada were already loyal subjects of the British Empire, having served in the army and often having come from India or one of Britain's African colonies.
