Bhai Sahib belongs to Damdami Taksal since 1988. Bhai Sahib's family has had an eminent role in the Sikh struggle for an independant Sikh nation called Khalistan. In this struggle Bhai Sahib's own brother and maternal uncle sacrificed their lives. Bhai Sahib's maternal uncle, Shaheed Bhai Charan Singh, were also Taksali and accompanied Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and were martyred in 1986. Bhai Sahib's brother Shaheed Bhai Kulbir Singh were martyred in a police encounter in 1992. Bhai Sahib had the enermous opperunity to live 18 years with Baba Thakur Singh.
