Babbu Mann is a well-established Indian Punjabi pop singer, actor, lyricist, composer and playback singer. He is the younger brother of Daler Mehndi . Mann is an alumnus of Punjab University, Chandigarh. His first album was "Sajjan Rumal De Giya" (1998). It was followed by Tu meri Miss India (1999)which was a moderate hit. His third album Saun Di Jhadi (T-Series, India) was his first highly successful album. It sold over a million copies in India alone and many more overseas. Saaun di Jhadi was followed by the also highly successful album, Ohi Chann Ohi Rataan. This album also fared well, both in terms of critics and sales.

He is one of the few Punjabi singers who sings their own lyrics in their own music.

Duets

Throughout his singing career Babbu Mann is known for his duets. His most famous duets are Nachoogi Sari Raat (Hawayein), Hawayein (Hawayein), Sada Kee Ae (Raab Ne Banaiyan Joidean), Kaad Pyar Ho Gaya (Raab Ne Banaiyan Joidean), and many more.

Hawayein

In 2001 Babbu Mann became the music director and singer for the upcoming movie, Hawayein (which means winds in Hindi). The movie did not do well in bollywood when it was released in May 2003, but when the official movie album was released in June 2003, it was a hit. The album sold around 7.5 million copies in India, and around 4.5 million overseas. This album was one of his moderate hits.

Recent Albums

After the huge success of the movie album Hawayein, Babbu Mann released a new album called Pyass. This album confirmed his famous throughout the world. After this he released an album called Raab Ne Banaiyan Joidean, which also did well in overall. In 2007 Babbu Mann has released a new album called Mera Gham.

Controversy

Rumours have been spreading of drug abuse for years now, but in a stage show in India, he was said to have collapsed live in front of the crowd. Even if there is much controversy around Babbu Mann, his lyrics are still amazing and his words are perfectly matched to the music.

All his albums are super hit in India & abroad. His album, Mera Ghum, has been made to appeal to more Hindi speaking audiences. It has faired reasonably well.
