ੴ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ ਪ੝ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

The Lord is one and He can be attained through the Grace of the True Guru.

ਅਥ ਨਰ ਅਉਤਾਰ ਕਥਨੰ ॥

Now beings the description of Nara incarnation

ਚੌਪਈ ॥

CHAUPAI

ਅਬ ਬਾਈਸ੝ਵੋ ਗਨਿ ਅਵਤਾਰਾ ॥ ਜੈਸ ਰੂਪ ਕਹ ਧਰੋ ਮ੝ਰਾਰਾ ॥ ਨਰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਭਯੋ ਅਰਜਨਾ ॥ ਜਿਹ ਜੀਤੇ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਭਟ ਗਨਾ ॥੧॥

Now I enumerate the twenty-second incarnation as to how he assumed this form. Arjuna became the Nara incarnation, who conquered the warriors of all the world.1.

ਪ੝ਰਿਥਮ ਨਿਵਾਤ ਕਵਚ ਸਭ ਮਾਰੇ ॥ ਇੰਦ੝ਰ ਤਾਤ ਕੇ ਸ਼ੋਕ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥ ਬ੝ਹਰੋ ਜ੝ੱਧ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਤਨ ਕੀਆ ॥ ਰੀਝੇ ਭੂਤਿ ਰਾਟ ਬਰ੝ ਦੀਆ ॥੨॥

In the first place, he by killing all the warriors, weaing unfailing coat of mail, removed the anxiety of his father Indra; then he fought a battle with Rudra (Shiva), the king of ghosts, who bestowed a boon on him.2.

ਬਹ੝ਰ ਦ੝ਰ੝ਜੋਧਨ ਕਹ ਮ੝ਕਤਾਯੋ ॥ ਗੰਧ੝ਰਬ ਰਾਜ ਬਿਮ੝ਖ ਫਿਰ ਆਯੋ ॥ ਖਾਂਡਵ ਬਨ ਪਾਵਕੋਹਿ ਚਰਾਵਾ ॥ ਬੂੰਦ ਝਕ ਪੈਠੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੩॥

Then he redeemed Duryodhana and burnt the king of Gandharavas in the fire of the Khandav forest; all these could not comprehend his secret.3.

ਜਉ ਕਹਿ ਕਥਾ ਪ੝ਰਸੰਗ ਸ੝ਨਾਊ ॥ ਗ੝ਰੰਥ ਬਢਨ ਤੇ ਹ੝ਰਿਦੈ ਡਰਾਊ ॥ ਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਥੋਰੀਯੈ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਈ ॥ ਭੂਲ ਦੇਖਿ ਕਬਿ ਲੇਹ੝ ਬਨਾਈ ॥੪॥

My mind fears the enlargement of this Granth (Book) by relating all these stories, therefore I have said it in brief and the poets will themselves improves my mistakes.4.

ਕਊਰਵ ਜੀਤ ਗਾਵ ਸਭ ਆਨੀ ॥ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਤਨ ਮਹਾਂ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥ਕ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਚੰਦ ਕੱਹ ਬਹ੝ਰਿ ਰਿਝਾਯੋ ॥ ਜਾਤੇ ਜੈਤਪਤ੝ਰ ਕਹ ਪਾਯੋ ॥੫॥

He conquered all the places, where several proud Kauravas lived; he pleased Krishna and obtained the certificate of victory from him.5.

ਗਾਂਗੇਵ ਭਾਨਜ ਕਹ ਮਾਰਯੋ ॥ ਘੋਰ ਭਯਾਨ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਧਾਰਯੋ ॥ ਦ੝ਰਜੋਧਨ ਜੀਤਾ ਅਤ ਬਲਾ ॥ ਪਾਵਤ ਭਝ ਰਾਜ ਅਬਚਲਾ ॥੬॥

He killed Bhishma, the son of Ganga and Karan, the son of Surya after fighting a dreadful war with them; he conquered the mighty warrior Duryodhana and obtained the eternal kingdom.6.

ਕਹ ਲਗਿ ਕਰਤ ਕਥਾ ਕਹ੝ ਜਾਊ ॥ ਗ੝ਰੰਥ ਬਢਨ ਤੇ ਅਧਕ ਡਰਾਊ ॥ ਕਥਾ ਬ੝ਰਿਧ ਕਸ ਕਰੌ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥ ਬਾਈਸਵੋ ਅਰਜਨ ਅਵਤਾਰਾ ॥੭॥

Upto which doing I should narrate this story, because I greatly fear the enlargement of this volume; what should I think of the long story? I say only this that Arjuna was the twenty-second incarnation.7.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੝ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੝ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਨਰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸੰਪੂਰਣਮ ਸਤ੝ ॥੨੨॥
