Amritsar is a district in Punjab. Its capital is the city of Amritsar.

Religion

Amritsar is one of the most Sikh districts of Punjab. Of the total population of 3,096,077, 2,383,575 are Sikhs (76.99%), 648,284 are Hindus (20.9%), 51,948 are Christians (1.7%) and 7,171 are Muslims (0.23%).
