Punjab: A northwestern state that is split across the political boundaries of India and Pakistan.
Punjab literally means 'Five Rivers'. The area of Punjab consists of the land in the area of 5 major rivers. After the Independance of India, Punjab was divided into both India and Pakistan. India retained the new East Punjab whilst Pakistan retained West Punjab and the old capital city of Lahore.
