Maha Singh or Mahan Singh was Maharaja Ranjit Singh's father and the commander of the Sukerchakia misl and controlled a territory in west Punjab based around his headquarters at Gujranwala. He was a Punjabi Sikh chief of an organisation (misl) which formed part of the Sikh Confederacy. His son, Maharaja Ranjit Singh was later on awarded the main leadership of the Sikh Confederacy by the Sikh chiefs. This resulted in the disbandment of the confederacy and the creation of the Sikh Empire.
