"Kashmir and the Sikhs An Insight" is a Book of 125 pages which is a translation in English of Anoop Singh Sodhi's punjabi Book.

The Book in punjabi was published in punjab during 1997,two years later after the death of Anoop Singh Sodhi, edited by Prof Himat Singh .Subsequently its English version was prepared by author's son Catp D S Sodhi (Indian Navy) and published from Srinagar during 2007.


The author has devoted 12 pages to Sikh Rule and adminstration. There is graphical account of the tribal raids in Oct. 1947 and consequent wide spread deaths and destruction.The raiders caused havoc in Muzaffarabad,Mirpur,Baramulla and Poonch Rojouri areas forcing migration of Sikhs.

Giving outline of Kashmir's regime under Hindu, Muslims, Mughal,Afghan, Sikhs and Dogra the author has given a perspective to the subject matter and made personal observations also.

His study gives an overall view of past events with special reference to Sikhs of Kashmir.The book has given account of visits of Great Sikh Gurus.He has also given graphic accounts of Sikh Shrines,Kar Sewa for construction,reconstruction or their proper upkeep.

The author hailing from Baramulla ,Kashmir was working with J&K Govt as Ranger in Forest Department and was also associated with Sikh Students Fedaration and later remained the chief of District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee,Baramulla.The author braved the brunt of trival raid in 1947 and draw up economic,political and social contribution of Sikhs during various rules of Kashmir.
