Incarnation 11

ਅਥ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਬਰਨਨੰ ॥ अथ रढ़दढ़र अवतार बरननं ॥ Now begins the description of Rudra Incarnation:

ਸ੝ਰੀ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੀ ਸਹਾਇ ॥ सढ़री भगउती जी सहाइ ॥ Let Sri Bhagauti Ji (The Primal Lord) be helpful.

ਤੋਟਕ ਛੰਦ ॥ तोटक छंद ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜਨ ਧਰਮ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ਲਗੇ ॥ ਤਜਿ ਜੋਗ ਕੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਕੀ ਪ੝ਰੀਤ ਭਗੇ ॥ सभ ही जन धरम के करम लगे ॥ तजि जोग की रीति की पढ़रीत भगे ॥ All the people absorbed themselves in the works of Dharma, but the time came when the discipline of Yoga and Bhakti (devotion) was abandoned;

ਜਬ ਧਰਮ ਚਲੇ ਤਬ ਜੀਉ ਬਢੇ ॥ ਜਨ ਕੋਟਿ ਸਰੂਪ ਕੇ ਬ੝ਰਹਮ੝ ਗਢੇ ॥੧॥ जब धरम चले तब जीउ बढे ॥ जन कोटि सरूप के बढ़रहमढ़ गढे ॥१॥ When the path of Dharma is adopted, all the souls get pleased and practising equality, they visualize One Brahman within all.1.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਭਾਰ ਭਰੀ ਧਰਣੀ ॥ ਦ੝ਖ ਆਕ੝ਲ ਜਾਤ ਨਹੀ ਬਰਣੀ ॥ जगजीवन भार भरी धरणी ॥ दढ़ख आकढ़ल जात नही बरणी ॥ This earth was pressed under the lord of sufferings of the people of the world and it was impossible to describe its anguish and agony;

ਧਰ ਰੂਪ ਗਊ ਦਧ ਸਿੰਧ ਗਈ ॥ ਜਗਨਾਇਕ ਪੈ ਦ੝ਖ੝ ਰੋਤ ਭਈ ॥੨॥ धर रूप गऊ दध सिंध गई ॥ जगनाइक पै दढ़खढ़ रोत भई ॥२॥ Then the earth transformed itself into a cow and weeping bitterly, she reached the milk-ocean before the Non-temporal Lord.2.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਹਸਿ ਕਾਲ ਪ੝ਰਸੰਨ ਭਝ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥ ਦ੝ਖ ਸ੝ਰਉਨਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਸ੝ਨਿਯੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥ हसि काल पढ़रसंन भझ तब ही ॥ दढ़ख सढ़रउनन भूमि सढ़नियो जब ही ॥ When the Lord heard with His own ears the sufferings of the earth, then the Destroyer Lord was pleased and laughed;

ਢਿਗ ਬਿਸਨ ਬ੝ਲਾਇ ਲਯੋ ਅਪਨੋ ॥ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਸ੝ਪਨੇ ॥੩॥ ढिग बिसन बढ़लाइ लयो अपनो ॥ इह भाति कहियो तिह को सढ़पने ॥३॥ He called Vishnu in His presence and said to him in this way.3.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STNZA

ਸ੝ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਤ੝ਮ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਸਰੂਪ ਧਰੋ ॥ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਕੋ ਚਲਿ ਨਾਸ ਕਰੋ ॥ सढ़ कहियो तढ़म रढ़दढ़र सरूप धरो ॥ जगजीवन को चलि नास करो ॥ The destroyer Lord asked Vishnu to manifest himself as Rudra in order to destroy the beings of the world;

ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਸਰੂਪ ਧਰਿਯੋ ॥ ਜਗ ਜੰਤ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਕੈ ਜੋਗ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੪॥ तब ही तिह रढ़दढ़र सरूप धरियो ॥ जग जंत संघार कै जोग करियो ॥४॥ Then Vishnu manifested himself as Rudra and destroying the beings of the world, he established Yoga.4.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਕਹਿ ਹੋਂ ਸਿਵ ਜੈਸਕ ਜ੝ੱਧ ਕੀਝ ॥ ਸ੝ਖ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੋ ਜਿਹ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੀਝ ॥ कहि हों सिव जैसक जढ़ढ़ध कीझ ॥ सढ़ख संतन को जिह भांत दीझ ॥ I shall describe now as to how Shiva waged wars and gave comfort to the saints;

ਗਨਿ ਹੋਂ ਜਿਹ ਭਾਂਤ ਬਰੀ ਗਿਰਜਾ ॥ ਜਗਜੀਤ ਸ੝ਯੰਬਰ ਮੋ ਸਪ੝ਰਭਾ ॥੫॥ गनि हों जिह भांत बरी गिरजा ॥ जगजीत सढ़यढ़मबर मो सपढ़रभा ॥५॥ I shall also tell how he wedded Parbati after conquering her in the Swayyamvara (self-selection of a husband from amongst the suitors).5.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਜਿਮ ਅੰਧਕ ਸੋਂ ਹਰਿ ਜ੝ੱਧ੝ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥ ਜਿਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਮਨੋਜ ਕੋ ਮਾਨ ਹਰਿਯੋ ॥ जिम अंधक सों हरि जढ़ढ़धढ़ करियो ॥ जिह भाति मनोज को मान हरियो ॥ How Shiva waged a war against Andgakasura? How is effaced the pride of Cupid?

ਦਲ ਦੈਤ ਦਲੇ ਕਰ ਕੋਪ ਜਿਮੰ ॥ ਕਹਿਹੋਂ ਸਭ ਛੋਰਿ ਪ੝ਰਸੰਗ ਤਿਮੰ ॥੬॥ दल दैत दले कर कोप जिमं ॥ कहिहों सभ छोरि पढ़रसंग तिमं ॥६॥ Getting furious, how he mashed the gathering of demons? I shall describe all these anecdotes.6.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥ पाधरी छंद ॥ PAADHARI STNAZA

ਜਬ ਹੋਤ ਧਰਨ ਭਾਰਾ ਕਰਾਂਤ ॥ ਤਬ ਪਰਤ ਨਾਹਿ ਤਿਹ ਹ੝ਰਿਦੈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥ जब होत धरन भारा करांत ॥ तब परत नाहि तिह हढ़रिदै सांति ॥ When the earth is pressed by the load of sins, then she cannot have peace in her heart.

ਚਲ ਦਧ ਸਮ੝ੰਦ੝ਰਿ ਕਰਈ ਪ੝ਕਾਰ ॥ ਤਬ ਧਰਤ ਬਿਸਨ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰਾਵਤਾਰ ॥੭॥ चल दध समढ़ंदढ़रि करई पढ़कार ॥ तब धरत बिसन रढ़दढ़रावतार ॥७॥ Then she goes and shouts loudly in the milk-ocean and the Rudra incarnation of Vishnu is manifested.7.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥ पाधरी छंद ॥ PAADHARI STANZA

ਤਬ ਕਰਤ ਸਕਲ ਦਾਨਵ ਸੰਘਾਰ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਦਨ੝ਜ ਪ੝ਰਲਵ ਸੰਤਨ ਉਧਾਰ ॥ तब करत सकल दानव संघार ॥ करि दनढ़ज पढ़रलव संतन उधार ॥ After manifestation, Rudra destroys the demons and crushing them, he protects the saints.

ਇਹ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਸਕਲ ਕਰਿ ਦ੝ਸਟ ਨਾਸ ॥ ਪ੝ਨਿ ਕਰਤਿ ਹ੝ਰਿਦੈ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਬਾਸ ॥੮॥ इह भांति सकल करि दढ़सट नास ॥ पढ़नि करति हढ़रिदै भगवान बास ॥८॥ In this way, destroying all the tyrants, he then abides in the heart of his devotees.8.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਤ੝ਰਿਪ੝ਰੈ ਇਕ ਦੈਤ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਤ੝ਰਿਪ੝ਰੰ ॥ ਜਿਹ ਤੇਜ ਤਪੈ ਰਵਿ ਜਿਉ ਤ੝ਰਿਪ੝ਰੰ ॥ तढ़रिपढ़रै इक दैत बढियो तढ़रिपढ़रं ॥ जिह तेज तपै रवि जिउ तढ़रिपढ़रं ॥ In Trupura State lived a three-eyed demons, whose glory was equal to the glory of the Sun, which spread over the three worlds.

ਬਰਦਾਇ ਮਹਾਸ੝ਰ ਝਸ ਭਯੋ ॥ ਜਿਨਿ ਲੋਕ ਚਤ੝ਰਦਸ ਜੀਤ ਲਯੋ ॥੯॥ बरदाइ महासढ़र झस भयो ॥ जिनि लोक चतढ़रदस जीत लयो ॥९॥ After receiving the boon, that demons become so powerful that he conquered all the fourteen regions of the universe.9.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STNAZA

ਜੋਊ ਝਕ ਹੀ ਬਾਣ ਹਣੈ ਤ੝ਰਿਪ੝ਰੰ ॥ ਸੋਊ ਨਾਸ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਹ ਦੈਤ ਦ੝ਰੰ ॥ जोऊ झक ही बाण हणै तढ़रिपढ़रं ॥ सोऊ नास करै तिह दैत दढ़रं ॥ (That demon had this boon) that anyone who had the power to kill him with one arrow, he only could kill that terrible demon.

ਅਸ ਕੋ ਪ੝ਰਗਟਿਯੋ ਕਬਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਗਨੈ ॥ ਇਕ ਬਾਣ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਪ੝ਰ ਤੀਨ ਹਨੈ ॥੧੦॥ अस को पढ़रगटियो कबि ताहि गनै ॥ इक बाण ही सो पढ़र तीन हनै ॥१०॥ The poet now wants to describe that mighty warrior who could kill that three-eyed demon with one arrow.10.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਸਿਵ ਧਾਇ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਰਨ ਕੋ ॥ ਜਗ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਕੋ ॥ सिव धाइ चलियो तिह मारन को ॥ जग के सभ जीव उधारन को ॥ For the protection of the beings of the world and the killing of that demon, the god Shiva moved forward.

ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪਿ ਤਜਿਯੋ ਸਿਤ ਸ੝ੱਧ ਸਰੰ ॥ ਇਕ ਬਾਰ ਹੀ ਨਾਸ ਕੀਯੋ ਤ੝ਰਿਪ੝ਰੰ ॥੧੧॥ करि कोपि तजियो सित सढ़ढ़ध सरं ॥ इक बार ही नास कीयो तढ़रिपढ़रं ॥११॥ In great fury, shot one arrow and only with arrow, he destroyed that demon of Tripura, named Tripura.11.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਲਖਿ ਕਉਤਕ ਸਾਧ ਸਭੈ ਹਰਖੇ ॥ ਸ੝ਮਨੰ ਬਰਖਾ ਨਭ ਤੇ ਬਰਖੇ ॥ लखि कउतक साध सभै हरखे ॥ सढ़मनं बरखा नभ ते बरखे ॥ Seeing this performance all the saints were pleased and gods showered flowers form heaven.

ਧ੝ਨਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਜਯ ਸੱਦ ਹੂਅੰ ॥ ਗਿਰਿ ਹੇਮ ਹਲਾਚਲ ਕੰਪ ਭੂਅੰ ॥੧੨॥ धढ़नि पूरि रही जय सढ़द हूअं ॥ गिरि हेम हलाचल कढ़मप भूअं ॥१२॥ The sound of "hail, hail" resound, there was consternation on Himalaya mountain and the earth tembled.12.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਦਿਨ ਕੇਤਕ ਬੀਤ ਗਝ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥ ਅਸ੝ਰੰਧਕ ਬੀਰ ਬੀਯੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥ दिन केतक बीत गझ जब ही ॥ असढ़रंधक बीर बीयो तब ही ॥ After a long time, another demons named Andhakasura came on the scene;

ਤਬ ਬੈਲਿ ਚੜਿਯੋ ਗਹਿ ਸੂਲ ਸਿਵੰ ॥ ਸ੝ਰ ਚਉਕਿ ਚਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਕਿਵੰ ॥੧੩॥ तब बैलि चड़ियो गहि सूल सिवं ॥ सढ़र चउकि चले हरि कोप किवं ॥१३॥ Mounting his bull and holding his trident, Shiva moved forward (to chastise him). Seeing his terrible form, the gods were also startled.13.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਗਣ ਗੰਧ੝ਰਬ ਜੱਛ ਸਭੈ ਉਰਗੰ ॥ ਬਰਦਾਨ ਦਯੋ ਸਿਵ ਕੋ ਦ੝ਰਗੰ ॥ गण गंधढ़रब जढ़छ सभै उरगं ॥ बरदान दयो सिव को दढ़रगं ॥ Shiva marched forward alongwith Ganas, Gandharavas, Yakshas and Nagas and Durga also granted boon to him.

ਹਨਿਹੋ ਨਿਰਖੰਤ ਮ੝ਰਾਰਿ ਸ੝ਰੰ ॥ ਤ੝ਰਿਪ੝ਰਾਰਿ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਜਿਮ ਕੈ ਤ੝ਰਿਪ੝ਰੰ ॥੧੪॥ हनिहो निरखंत मढ़रारि सढ़रं ॥ तढ़रिपढ़रारि हनियो जिम कै तढ़रिपढ़रं ॥१४॥ The gods began to see that Shiva would kill Andhakasura in the same way as he had killed the demon Tripura.14.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਉਹ੝ ਓਰਿ ਚੜੇ ਦਲ ਲੈ ਦ੝ਜਨੰ ॥ ਇਹ ਓਰ ਰਿਸਯੋ ਗਹਿ ਸੂਲ ਸਿਵੰ ॥ उहढ़ ओरि चड़े दल लै दढ़जनं ॥ इह ओर रिसयो गहि सूल सिवं ॥ Form the other side that demons of vicious intellect started. From this side in great fury and holding the trident in his hand, Shiva moved.

ਰਣ ਰੰਗ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਣ ਧੀਰ ਰਣੰ ॥ ਜਨ ਸੋਭਤ ਪਾਵਕ ਜ੝ਵਾਲ ਬਣੰ ॥੧੫॥ रण रंग रंगे रण धीर रणं ॥ जन सोभत पावक जढ़वाल बणं ॥१५॥ Intoxicated with war-tactics, the mighty warriors presented the scene like the blazing flames of fire in the forst.15.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK STNAZA

ਦਨ੝ ਦੇਵ ਦੋਊ ਰਣ ਰੰਗ ਰਚੇ ॥ ਗਹਿ ਸਸਤ੝ਰ ਸਭੈ ਰਸ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਮਚੇ ॥ दनढ़ देव दोऊ रण रंग रचे ॥ गहि ससतढ़र सभै रस रढ़दढ़र मचे ॥ Both the demons and gods became absorbed in the war and bedecking themselves with weapons all the warriors enjoyed the relish of anger.

ਸਰ ਛਾਡਤ ਬੀਰ ਦੋਊ ਹਰਖੇ ॥ ਜਨ੝ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੝ਰਲੈ ਘਨ ਸੇ ਬਰਖੇ ॥੧੬॥ सर छाडत बीर दोऊ हरखे ॥ जनढ़ अंति पढ़रलै घन से बरखे ॥१६॥ The warriors of both the sides enjoyed the shooting of arrows and the arrows are being showered like the raining of clouds on the doomsday.16.

ਰ੝ਆਮਲ ਛੰਦ ॥ रढ़आमल छंद ॥ RUAAMAL STANZA

ਘਾਇ ਖਾਇ ਭਜੇ ਸ੝ਰਾਰਦਨ ਕੋਪ੝ ਓਪ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥ ਅੰਧਿ ਕੰਧਿ ਫਿਰਿਯੋ ਤਬੈ ਜਯ ਦ੝ੰਦਭੀਨ ਬਜਾਇ ॥ घाइ खाइ भजे सढ़रारदन कोपढ़ ओप मिटाइ ॥ अंधि कंधि फिरियो तबै जय दढ़ंदभीन बजाइ ॥ The demons being wounded and becoming weak began to run away and at that time, Andhakasura, resounding his drums turned and moved towards the battlefield.

ਸੂਲ ਸੈਹਥਿ ਪਰਿਘ ਪਟਸਿ ਬਾਣ ਓਘ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰ ॥ ਪੇਲਿ ਪੇਲਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਸ੝ ਬੀਰਨ ਖੇਲ ਜਾਨ ਧਮਾਰ ॥੧੭॥ सूल सैहथि परिघ पटसि बाण ओघ पढ़रहार ॥ पेलि पेलि गिरे सढ़ बीरन खेल जान धमार ॥१७॥ The blows were struck with tridents, swords, arrows and other weapons and arms and the warriors swung and fell; it seemed that there was a programme of dance and amorous pastime.17.

ਰ੝ਆਮਲ ਛੰਦ ॥ रढ़आमल छंद ॥ RUAAMAL STANZA

ਸੇਲ ਰੇਲ ਭਈ ਤਹਾ ਅਰ ਤੇਗ ਤੀਰ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰ ॥ ਗਾਹਿ ਗਾਹਿ ਫਿਰੇ ਫਵੱਜਨ ਬਾਹਿ ਬਾਹਿ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ॥ सेल रेल भई तहा अर तेग तीर पढ़रहार ॥ गाहि गाहि फिरे फवढ़जन बाहि बाहि हथियार ॥ With the blows of swords and arrows, there was consternation in the battlefield and striking their weapons, the warriors were stirring up the armies.

ਅੰਗ ਭੰਗ ਪਰੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਸਰਬੰਗ ਸ੝ਰੋਨਤ ਪੂਰ ॥ ਝਕ ਝਕ ਬਰੀ ਅਨੇਕਨ ਹੇਰਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਸ੝ ਹੂਰ ॥੧੮॥ अंग भंग परे कहूं सरबंग सढ़रोनत पूर ॥ झक झक बरी अनेकन हेरि हेरि सढ़ हूर ॥१८॥ Somewhere the limbless fighters and somewhere the complete bodies are immersed in blood; the warriors who had attained martyrdom, are wedding the heavenly damsels, after making search for them.18.

ਰ੝ਆਮਲ ਛੰਦ ॥ रढ़आमल छंद ॥ RUAAMAL STANZA

ਚਉਰ ਚੀਰ ਰਥੀ ਰਥੋ ਤਮ ਬਾਜ ਰਾਜ ਅਨੰਤ ॥ ਸ੝ਰੋਣ ਕੀ ਸਰਤਾ ਉਠੀ ਸ੝ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਰੂਪ ਦ੝ਰੰਤ ॥ चउर चीर रथी रथो तम बाज राज अनंत ॥ सढ़रोण की सरता उठी सढ़ बिअंत रूप दढ़रंत ॥ The garments, chariots, the chariot-riders and many horses are lying hither and thither and a dreadful stream of blood is flowing in the battlefield.

ਸਾਜ ਬਾਜ ਕਟੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਗਜਰਾਜ ਤਾਜ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ ਉਸਟਿ ਪ੝ਸਟਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਿਪ ਬਾਚੀਯੰ ਨਹੀ ਝਕ ॥੧੯॥ साज बाज कटे कहूं गजराज ताज अनेक ॥ उसटि पढ़सटि गिरे कहूं रिप बाचीयं नही झक ॥१९॥ Somewhere the bedecked horses and elephants are lying chopped and somewhere there are heaps of warriors lying down; not a single enemy hath remained alive.19.

ਰ੝ਆਮਲ ਛੰਦ ॥ रढ़आमल छंद ॥ RUAAMAL STANZA

ਛਾਡਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਚਲੇ ਤਹਾ ਨ੝ਰਿਪ ਸਾਜ ਬਾਜ ਅਨੰਤ ॥ ਗਾਜ ਗਾਜ ਹਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਵ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਦ੝ਰੰਤ ॥ छाडि छाडि चले तहा नढ़रिप साज बाज अनंत ॥ गाज गाज हने सदा सिव सूरबीर दढ़रंत ॥ The kings have abandoned their bedecked horses and elephants and gone away and the god Shiva, shouting very loudly, hath destroyed the mighty warriors.

ਭਾਜ ਭਾਜ ਚਲੇ ਹਠੀ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ॥ ਬਾਣ ਪਾਣ ਕਮਾਣ ਛਾਡਿ ਸ੝ ਚਰਮ ਬਰਮ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ॥੨੦॥ भाज भाज चले हठी हथिआर हाथि बिसारि ॥ बाण पाण कमाण छाडि सढ़ चरम बरम बिसारि ॥२०॥ The brave fighters have also abandoned their weapons and gone away, after leaving behind their bows and arrows and steel-armors.20.

ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ नराज छंद ॥ NARAAJ STNAZA

ਜਿਤੇ ਕ੝ ਸੂਰ ਧਾਈਯੰ ॥ ਤਿਤੇਕ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਘਾਈਯੰ ॥ ਜਿਤੇ ਕ੝ ਅਉਰ ਧਾਵਹੀ ਤਿਤਿਯੋ ਮਹੇਸ ਘਾਵਹੀ ॥੨੧॥ जिते कढ़ सूर धाईयं ॥ तितेक रढ़दढ़र घाईयं ॥ जिते कढ़ अउर धावही तितियो महेस घावही ॥२१॥ All the warriors who go in front of him, Rudra destroys them all, those who will advance, will also be destroyed by Shiva.21.

ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ नराज छंद ॥ NARAAJ STANZA

ਕਬੰਧ ਅੰਧ ਉਠਹੀ ॥ ਬਸੇਖ ਬਾਣ ਬ੝ਠਹੀ ॥ कबंध अंध उठही ॥ बसेख बाण बढ़ठही ॥ The blind (headless) trunks are rising in the battlefield and casting special showers of arrows.

ਪਿਨਾਕ ਪਾਣਿ ਤੇ ਹਣੇ ॥ ਅਨੰਤ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਬਣੇ ॥੨੨॥ पिनाक पाणि ते हणे ॥ अनंत सूरमा बणे ॥२२॥ Innumerable warriors, shooting arrows from their bows are exhibiting proof of their bravery.22.

ਸਿਲਹ ਸੰਜਿ ਸੱਜੇ ॥ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰਿ ਗੱਜੇ ॥ सिलह संजि सढ़जे ॥ चहूं ओरि गढ़जे ॥ Bedecked with the steel-armour, the warriors are thundering on all the four sides.

ਮਹਾਂ ਬੀਰ ਬੰਕੇ ॥ ਮਿਟੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਡੰਕੇ ॥੨੩॥ महां बीर बंके ॥ मिटै नाहि डंके ॥२३॥ The wanton mighty heroes are irresistible.23.

ਬਜੇ ਘੋਰਿ ਬਾਜੰ ॥ ਸਜੇ ਸੂਰ ਸਾਜੰ ॥ बजे घोरि बाजं ॥ सजे सूर साजं ॥ The horrible sound of musical instruments is being heard and the bedecked warriors are being seen.

ਘਣੰ ਜੇਮ ਗੱਜੇ ॥ ਮਹਿਖ੝ਆਸ ਸੱਜੇ ॥੨੪॥ घणं जेम गढ़जे ॥ महिखढ़आस सढ़जे ॥२४॥ The bows are crackling like the thundering of the clouds.24.

ਮਹਿਖ੝ਆਸ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਚਲੇ ਬਯੋਮ ਚਾਰੀ ॥ महिखढ़आस धारी ॥ चले बयोम चारी ॥ The gods, holding their bows, are also moving,

ਸ੝ਭੰ ਸੂਰ ਹਰਖੇ ॥ ਸਰੰ ਧਾਰ ਬਰਖੇ ॥੨੫॥ सढ़भं सूर हरखे ॥ सरं धार बरखे ॥२५॥ And all the brave fighters, being pleased, are showering their arrows.25.

ਧਰੇ ਬਾਣ ਪਾਣੰ ॥ ਚੜੇ ਤੇਜ ਮਾਣੰ ॥ धरे बाण पाणं ॥ चड़े तेज माणं ॥ Holding their bows in their hands, excessively glorious and proud warriors have marched forward,

ਕਟਾ ਕਟਿ ਬਾਹੈਂ ॥ ਅਧੋ ਅੰਗ ਲਾਹੈਂ ॥੨੬॥ कटा कटि बाहैं ॥ अधो अंग लाहैं ॥२६॥ And with the clattering of their weapons, the bodies of the enemies are being chopped into two parts.26.

ਰਿਸੇ ਰੋਸਿ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰੰ ॥ ਚਲੈ ਭਾਜ ਛ੝ਦ੝ਰੰ ॥ रिसे रोसि रढ़दढ़रं ॥ चलै भाज छढ़दढ़रं ॥ Seeing the fury of Rudra, the weak demons are running away.

ਮਹਾਂ ਬੀਰ ਗੱਜੇ ॥ ਸਿਲਹ ਸੰਜਿ ਸਜੇ ॥੨੭॥ महां बीर गढ़जे ॥ सिलह संजि सजे ॥२७॥ Bedecked with their armour, they mighty warriors are thundering.27.

ਲਝ ਸਕਤਿ ਪਾਣੰ ॥ ਚੜੇ ਤੇਜ ਮਾਣੰ ॥ लझ सकति पाणं ॥ चड़े तेज माणं ॥ Holding the Shakti (his power) in his hands the supremely glorious Shiva,

ਗਣੰ ਗਾੜ ਗਾਜੇ ॥ ਰਣੰ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਰਾਜੇ ॥੨੮॥ गणं गाड़ गाजे ॥ रणं रढ़दढ़र राजे ॥२८॥ Thundering dreadfully, is absorbed in war, and is looking impressive.28.

ਭਭੰਕੰਤ ਘਾਯੰ ॥ ਲਰੇ ਚਉਪ ਚਾਯੰ ॥ भभंकंत घायं ॥ लरे चउप चायं ॥ The blood is oozing out of the wounds and all the fighters are fighting with enthusiasm.

ਡਕੀ ਡਾਕਣੀਯੰ ॥ ਰੜੇ ਕਾਕਣੀਯੰ ॥੨੯॥ डकी डाकणीयं ॥ रड़े काकणीयं ॥२९॥ The vampires are pleased and the horses etc, are rolling in dust.29.

ਭਯੰ ਰੋਸ ਰ੝ੱਦ੝ਰੰ ॥ ਹਣੇ ਦੈਤ ਛ੝ੱਦ੝ਰੰ ॥ भयं रोस रढ़ढ़दढ़रं ॥ हणे दैत छढ़ढ़दढ़रं ॥ Rudra, in great fury, hath destroyed the demons,

ਕਟੇ ਅਧ ਅੱਧੰ ॥ ਭਈ ਸੈਣ ਬੱਧੰ ॥੩੦॥ कटे अध अधं ॥ भई सैण बढ़धं ॥३०॥ And hath chopped their bodies into bits and killed the army.30.

ਰਿਸਿਯੋ ਸੂਲ ਪਾਣੰ ॥ ਹਣੇ ਦੈਤ ਭਾਣੰ ॥ रिसियो सूल पाणं ॥ हणे दैत भाणं ॥ Shiva, the holder of the trident, is in extreme anger and he hath destroyed the demons.

ਸਰੰ ਓਘ ਛ੝ੱਟੇ ॥ ਘਣੰ ਜੇਮ ਟ੝ੱਟੇ ॥੩੧॥ सरं ओघ छढ़ढ़टे ॥ घणं जेम टढ़ढ़टे ॥३१॥ The arrows are being showered like the raining clouds.31.

ਰਣੰ ਰ੝ੱਦ੝ਰ ਗੱਜੇ ॥ ਤਬੈ ਦੈਤ ਭੱਜੇ ॥ रणं रढ़ढ़दढ़र गढ़जे ॥ तबै दैत भढ़जे ॥ When Rudra thundered in the battlefield, then all the demons ran away.

ਤਜੇ ਸਸਤ੝ਰ ਸਰਬੰ ॥ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਦੇਹ ਗਰਬੰ ॥੩੨॥ तजे ससतढ़र सरबं ॥ मिटिओ देह गरबं ॥३२॥ All of them abandoned their weapons and the pride of all was shattered.32.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥ चौपई ॥ CHAUPAI

ਧਾਯੋ ਤਬੈ ਅੰਧਕ ਬਲਵਾਨਾ ॥ ਸੰਗ ਲੈ ਸੈਨ ਦਾਨਵੀ ਨਾਨਾ ॥ धायो तबै अंधक बलवाना ॥ संग लै सैन दानवी नाना ॥ At that time, the mighty Andhakasura, alongwith the army of demons sped towards the fornt.

ਅਮਿਤ ਬਾਣ ਨੰਦੀ ਕਹ੝ ਮਾਰੇ ॥ ਬੇਧਿ ਅੰਗ ਕਹ ਪਾਰ ਪਧਾਰੇ ॥੩੩॥ अमित बाण नंदी कहढ़ मारे ॥ बेधि अंग कह पार पधारे ॥३३॥ He discharged many arrows on Nandi, which penetrated through his limbs.33.

ਜਬ ਹੀ ਬਾਣ ਲਗੇ ਬਾਹਣ ਤਨਿ ॥ ਰੋਸ ਜਗਿਯੋ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸਿਵ ਕੇ ਮਨਿ ॥ जब ही बाण लगे बाहण तनि ॥ रोस जगियो तब ही सिव के मनि ॥ When the god Shiva saw the infliction of the arrows on his vehicle, then he became violently furious.

ਅਧਿਕ ਰੋਸ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਸਖ ਚਲਾਝ ॥ ਭੂਮਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਛਿਨਕ ਮਹਿ ਛਾਝ॥੩੪॥ अधिक रोस करि बिसख चलाझ ॥ भूमि अकास छिनक महि छाझ॥३४॥ With great ire, he discharge his poisonous arrows, which spread over the earth and sky in an instant.34.

ਬਾਣਾਵਲੀ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਜਬ ਸਾਜੀ ॥ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸੈਣ ਦਾਨਵੀ ਭਾਜੀ ॥ बाणावली रढ़दढ़र जब साजी ॥ तब ही सैण दानवी भाजी ॥ When Rudra shot his arrows, the army of demons sped away.

ਤਬ ਅੰਧਿਕ ਸਿਵ ਸਾਮ੝ਹਿ ਧਾਯੋ ॥ ਦ੝ੰਦ ਜ੝ੱਧ੝ ਰਣ ਮਧਿ ਮਚਾਯੋ ॥੩੫॥ तब अंधिक सिव सामढ़हि धायो ॥ दढ़ंद जढ़ढ़धढ़ रण मधि मचायो ॥३५॥ Then Andhakasura came in front of Shiva, a dreadful war ensured.35.

ਅੜਿਲ ॥ अड़िल ॥ ARIL

ਬੀਸ ਬਾਣ ਤਿਨ ਸਿਵਹਿ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰੇ ਕੋਪ ਕਰਿ ॥ ਲਗੇ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕੇ ਗਾਤ ਗਝ ਓਹ ਘਾਨਿ ਕਰ ॥ बीस बाण तिन सिवहि पढ़रहारे कोप करि ॥ लगे रढ़दढ़र के गात गझ ओह घानि कर ॥ The demons, highly infuriated, discharged twenty arrows on Shiva, which struck the body of Shiva and wounded it.

ਗਹਿ ਪਿਨਾਕ ਕਹ ਪਾਣਿ ਪਿਨਾਕੀ ਧਾਇਯੋ ॥ ਹੋ ਤ੝ਮਲ ਜ੝ੱਧ੝ ਦ੝ਹੂੰਅਨ ਰਣ ਮੱਧਿ ਮਚਾਇਯੋ ॥੩੬॥ गहि पिनाक कह पाणि पिनाकी धाइयो ॥ हो तढ़मल जढ़ढ़धढ़ दढ़हूंअन रण मढ़धि मचाइयो ॥३६॥ Shiva also ran forward, holding his bow in his hand and a fearful war began between them.36.

ਅੜਿਲ ॥ अड़िल ॥ ARIL

ਤਾੜ ਸਤ੝ਰ ਕਹ ਬਹ੝ਰਿ ਪਿਨਾਕੀ ਕੋਪ੝ ਹ੝ਝ ॥ ਹਣੇ ਦ੝ਸਟ ਕਹ ਬਾਣ ਨਿਖੰਗ ਤੇ ਕਾਢ ਦ੝ਝ ॥ ताड़ सतढ़र कह बहढ़रि पिनाकी कोपढ़ हढ़झ ॥ हणे दढ़सट कह बाण निखंग ते काढ दढ़झ ॥ Then Shiva took out tow arrow from his quiver, and aiming them at the tyrant, he discharged them in great anger.

ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਭੂਮ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਸੱਤ੝ਰ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥ ਹੋ ਜਨਕ ਗਾਜ ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਬ੝ਰਜ ਕਹ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੩੭॥ गिरियो भूम भीतरि सिरि सढ़तढ़र पढ़रहारियो ॥ हो जनक गाज करि कोप बढ़रज कह मारियो ॥३७॥ The arrows struck the head of the enemy and he fell down on the earth; he fell like a column falling flat on the ground having been hit by lightning.37.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥ तोटक ॥ TOTAK

ਘਟਿ ਝਕ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਿਪ ਚੇਤ ਭਯੋ ॥ ਧਨ੝ ਬਾਣ ਬਲੀ ਪ੝ਨ ਪਾਣਿ ਲਯੋ ॥ घटि झक बिखै रिप चेत भयो ॥ धनढ़ बाण बली पढ़न पाणि लयो ॥ After one ghari (about 24 mintues), the enemy (Andhakasura) regained his senses and that mighty warrior again took bow and arrows in his hands.

ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਕ੝ਵੰਡ ਕਰੰ ਕਰਖ੝ਯੋ ॥ ਸਰ ਧਾਰ ਬਲੀ ਘਨ ਜਯੋਂ ਬਰਖਯੋ ॥੩੮॥ करि कोप कढ़वंड करं करखढ़यो ॥ सर धार बली घन जयों बरखयो ॥३८॥ The bow was pulled in his hands in great anger and a volley of arrows was showered like rain.38.

ਤੋਟਕ ਛੰਦ ॥ तोटक छंद ॥ TOTAK STANZA

ਕਰਿ ਕੋਪ ਬਲੀ ਬਰਖਯੋ ਬਿਸਖੰ ॥ ਇਹ ਓਰ ਲਗੇ ਨਿਸਰੇ ਦ੝ਸਰੰ ॥ करि कोप बली बरखयो बिसखं ॥ इह ओर लगे निसरे दढ़सरं ॥ In great ire, that mighty warrior began to discharge and shower his distinctively powerful arrows, which struck on one side came out from the other side.

ਤਬ ਕੋਪ ਕਰੰ ਸਿਵ ਸੂਲ ਲੀਯੋ ॥ ਅਰਿ ਕੋ ਸਿਰ ਕਾਟਿ ਦ੝ਖੰਡ ਕੀਯੋ ॥੩੯॥ तब कोप करं सिव सूल लीयो ॥ अरि को सिर काटि दढ़खंड कीयो ॥३९॥ Then greatly infuriated, Shiva took the trident in his hand, and cut the head of the enemy into two parts.39.

ਸ੝ਰ ਰਾਜ ਪ੝ਰਸੰਨਿ ਭਝ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥ ਅ ਰ ਅੰਧਕ ਨਾਸ ਸ੝ਨਿਯੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥ सढ़र राज पढ़रसंनि भझ तब ही ॥ अ र अंधक नास सढ़नियो जब ही ॥ When Indra heard about the destruction of Andhakasura he was very much pleased.

ਇਮ ਕੈ ਦਿਨ ਕੇਤਕ ਬੀਤ ਗਝ ॥ ਸਿਵਧਾਮਿ ਸਤਕ੝ਰਿਤ ਜਾਤ ਭਝ ॥੧॥ इम कै दिन केतक बीत गझ ॥ सिवधामि सतकढ़रित जात भझ ॥१॥ In this way, may days elapsed and Shiva also went to Indra`s place.1.

ਤਬ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਭਯਾਨਕ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਿਯੋ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਹਰੰ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਹਰਿਯੋ ॥ तब रढ़दढ़र भयानक रूप धरियो ॥ हरि हेरि हरं हथियार हरियो ॥ Then Rudra manifested himself in a dreadful form; seeing Shiva, Indra discharged his wapons.

ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸਿਵ ਕੋਪ ਅਖੰਡ ਕੀਯੋ ॥ ਇਕ ਜਨਮ ਅੰਗਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਲੀਯੋ ॥੨॥ तब ही सिव कोप अखंड कीयो ॥ इक जनम अंगार अपार लीयो ॥२॥ Then Shiva was highly infuriated and blazed like a live charcoal.2.

ਤਿਹ ਤੇਜ ਜਰੇ ਜਗਜੀਵ ਸਬੈ ॥ ਤਿਹ ਡਾਰ ਦਯੋ ਮਧਿ ਸਿੰਧ ਤਬੈ ॥ तिह तेज जरे जगजीव सबै ॥ तिह डार दयो मधि सिंध तबै ॥ With that blaze, all the beings of the world began to burn. Then Shiva in order to pacify his anger threw his weapon and anger into the sea;

ਸੋਊ ਡਾਰ ਦਯੋ ਸਿੰਧ ਮਹਿ ਨ ਗਯੋ ॥ ਤਿਹ ਆਨਿ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਰੂਪ ਲਯੋ ॥੩॥ सोऊ डार दयो सिंध महि न गयो ॥ तिह आनि जलंधर रूप लयो ॥३॥ But it could not be drowned and manifested itself in the from of the demon Jalandhar.3.

ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਯੋ ਅਸ੝ਰ ਬਲਵਾਨਾ ॥ ਲਯੋ ਕ੝ਬੇਰ ਕੋ ਲੂਟ ਖਜਾਨਾ ॥ इह बिधि भयो असढ़र बलवाना ॥ लयो कढ़बेर को लूट खजाना ॥ In this way, this demon grew in strength excessively and he also looted the treasure of Kuber.

ਪਕਰ ਸਮਸ ਤੇ ਬ੝ਰਹਮ੝ ਰ੝ਵਾਯੋ ॥ ਇੰਦ੝ਰ ਜੀਤਿ ਸਿਰ ਛਤ੝ਰ ਢ੝ਰਾਯੋ ॥੪॥ पकर समस ते बढ़रहमढ़ रढ़वायो ॥ इंदढ़र जीति सिर छतढ़र ढढ़रायो ॥४॥ He caught Brahma and caused him to weep, and conquering Indra, He seized his canopy and swung over his head.4.

ਜੀਤਿ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਪਾਇ ਲਗਾਝ ॥ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਬਿਸਨ ਨਿਜ ਪ੝ਰੀ ਬਸਾਝ ॥ जीति देवता पाइ लगाझ ॥ रढ़दढ़र बिसन निज पढ़री बसाझ ॥ After conquering the gods, he caused them to fall at his feet and forced Vishnu and Shiva to abide only within their own cities.l

ਚਉਦਹ ਰਤਨ ਆਨਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਗ੝ਰਿਹ ॥ ਜਹਾਂ ਤਹਾਂ ਬੈਠਾਝ ਨਵ ਗ੝ਰਿਹ ॥੫॥ चउदह रतन आनि राखे गढ़रिह ॥ जहां तहां बैठाझ नव गढ़रिह ॥५॥ He gathered all the fourteen jewels in his own house and fixed the polaces on nine planets at his will.5.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥ दोहरा ॥ DOHRA

ਜੀਤਿ ਬਸਾਝ ਨਿਜ ਪ੝ਰੀ ਅਸ੝ਰ ਸਕਲ ਅਸ੝ਰਾਰ ॥ जीति बसाझ निज पढ़री असढ़र सकल असढ़रार ॥ The demon-king, conquering all, caused them to live in his own territory.

ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰੀ ਮਹੇਸ ਕੀ ਗਿਰਿ ਕੈਲਾਸ ਮਝਾਰ ॥੬॥ पूजा करी महेस की गिरि कैलास मझार ॥६॥ The gods went to Kailash mountain and worshipped him.6.

ਧਯਾਨ ਬਿਧਾਨ ਕਰੇ ਬਹ੝ ਭਾਂਤਾ ॥ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ धयान बिधान करे बहढ़ भांता ॥ सेवा करी अधिक दिन राता ॥ They performed various types of mediation, worship and service day and service day and night for a long time.

ਭੂਤਰਾਟ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਖ ਅਤ੝ਲ ਬਲ ॥ ਕਾਂਪਤ ਭਝ ਅਨਿਕ ਅਰਿ ਜਲ ਥਲ ॥ भूतराट को निरख अतढ़ल बल ॥ कांपत भझ अनिक अरि जल थल ॥ All the enemies on water and land trembled, seeing the innumerable forces of Shiva, the lord of ghosts.

ਦੱਛ ਪ੝ਰਜਾਪਤ ਹੋਤ ਨ੝ਰਿਪਤ ਬਰ ॥ ਦਸ ਸਹੰਸ੝ਰ ਦ੝ਹਿਤਾ ਤਾਕੇ ਘਰ ॥੮॥ दढ़छ पढ़रजापत होत नढ़रिपत बर ॥ दस सहंसढ़र दढ़हिता ताके घर ॥८॥ Out of all the kings, the king Daksha was most respected, who had ten thousand daughters in his home.8.

ਤਿਨ ਇਕ ਬਾਰ ਸ੝ਯੰਬਰ ਕੀਯਾ ॥ ਦਸ ਸਹੰਸ੝ਰ ਦ੝ਹਿਤਾ ਇਸ ਦੀਯਾ ॥ तिन इक बार सढ़यढ़मबर कीया ॥ दस सहंसढ़र दढ़हिता इस दीया ॥ Once that king held a swayyamvara at his place and permitted his ten thousand daughters.

ਜੋ ਬਰ੝ ਰ੝ਚੇ ਬਰਹ੝ ਅਬ ਸੋਈ ॥ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਰਾਜਾ ਹ੝ਇ ਕੋਈ ॥੯॥ जो बरढ़ रढ़चे बरहढ़ अब सोई ॥ ऊच नीच राजा हढ़इ कोई ॥९॥ To wed according to their interest forsaking all thought of high and low in society.9.

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਿਸੈ ਰ੝ਚਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਬਰਾ ॥ ਸਭ ਪ੝ਰਸੰਗ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਉਚਰਾ ॥ जो जो जिसै रढ़चा तिनि बरा ॥ सभ पढ़रसंग नही जात उचरा ॥ Each one of them wed whomsoever she liked, but all such anecdotes cannot be described;

ਜੋ ਬਿਰਤਾਂਤ ਕਹਿ ਛੋਰਿ ਸ੝ਨਾਊਂ ॥ ਕਥਾ ਬ੝ਰਿਧਿ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਡਰਾਊਂ ॥੧੦॥ जो बिरतांत कहि छोरि सढ़नाऊं ॥ कथा बढ़रिधि ते अधिक डराऊं ॥१०॥ It all of them are narrated in detail, then there will always be the fear of increasing the volume.10.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥ चौपई ॥ CHAUPAI

ਚਾਰ ਸ੝ਤਾ ਕਸਪ ਕਹ ਦੀਨੀ ॥ ਕੇਤਕ ਬਯਾਹ ਚੰਦ੝ਰਮਾ ਲੀਨੀ ॥ चार सढ़ता कसप कह दीनी ॥ केतक बयाह चंदढ़रमा लीनी ॥ Four daughters were given to the sage Kashyap, and many of the daughters married the god Chandrama (moon).

ਕੇਤਕ ਗਈ ਅਉਰ ਦੇਸਨ ਮਹਿ ॥ ਬਰਿਯੋ ਗਉਰਜਾ ਝਕ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕਹਿ ॥੧੧॥ केतक गई अउर देसन महि ॥ बरियो गउरजा झक रढ़दढ़र कहि ॥११॥ Many of them went to foreign countries, but Guri (Parvait) named and married Shiva.11.

ਜਬ ਹੀ ਬਯਾਹ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਗ੝ਰਿਹਿ ਆਨੀ ॥ ਚਲੀ ਜਗ ਕੀ ਬਹ੝ਰਿ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥ जब ही बयाह रढ़दढ़र गढ़रिहि आनी ॥ चली जग की बहढ़रि कहानी ॥ When, after wedding, Parvati reached the home of Shiva (Rudra), the many types of narratives became prevalent.

ਸਭ ਦ੝ਹਿਤਾ ਤਿਹ ਬੋਲ ਪਠਾਈ ॥ ਲੀਨੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਤਾਰਨ ਆਈ ॥੧੨॥ सभ दढ़हिता तिह बोल पठाई ॥ लीनो संगि भतारन आई ॥१२॥ The king called all his daughters and all of them came to their father`s home alongwith their husband.12.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥ चौपई ॥ CHAUPAI

ਜੇ ਜੇ ਹ੝ਤੇ ਦੇਸ ਪਰਦੇਸਾ ॥ ਜਾਤ ਭਝ ਸਸ੝ਰਾਰਿ ਨਰੇਸਾ ॥ जे जे हढ़ते देस परदेसा ॥ जात भझ ससढ़रारि नरेसा ॥ All the kings within and outside the country, began to reach at the house of their father-in-law.

ਨਿਰਖਿ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕੋ ਅਉਰ ਪ੝ਰਕਾਰਾ ॥ ਕਿਨਹੂ ਨ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਚਿਤਾਰਾ ॥੧੩॥ निरखि रढ़दढ़र को अउर पढ़रकारा ॥ किनहू न भूपति ताहि चितारा ॥१३॥ Considering the queer dressing habits of Rudra, no one could think of him.13.

ਨਹਨ ਗਉਰਜਾ ਦੱਛ ਬ੝ਲਾਈ ॥ ਸ੝ਨਿ ਨਾਰਦ ਤੇ ਹ੝ਰਿਦੈ ਰਿਸਾਈ ॥ नहन गउरजा दढ़छ बढ़लाई ॥ सढ़नि नारद ते हढ़रिदै रिसाई ॥ The king Daksha did not invite Gauri; then Gauri heard about it from the mouth of Narad, she got extremely angry in her mind.

ਬਿਨ ਬੋਲੇ ਪਿਤ ਕੇ ਗ੝ਰਿਹ ਗਈ ॥ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੝ਰਕਾਰ ਤੇਜ ਤਨ ਤਈ ॥੧੪॥ बिन बोले पित के गढ़रिह गई ॥ अनिक पढ़रकार तेज तन तई ॥१४॥ She went to her father`s house without telling anybody, and her body and mind were emotionally blazing.14.

ਜੱਗ ਕ੝ੰਡ ਮਹਿ ਪਰੀ ਉਛਰ ਕਰਿ ॥ ਸਤ ਪ੝ਰਤਾਪਿ ਪਾਵਕ ਭਈ ਸੀਤਰਿ ॥ जढ़ग कढ़ंड महि परी उछर करि ॥ सत पढ़रतापि पावक भई सीतरि ॥ Being extremely infuriated, she plunged into the sacrificial pit, and because of her dignified demeanour, the fire cooled down.

ਜੋਗ ਅਗਨਿ ਕਹ੝ ਬਹ੝ਰਿ ਪ੝ਰਕਾਸਾ ॥ ਤਾ ਤਨ ਕੀਯੋ ਪ੝ਰਾਨ ਕੋ ਨਾਸਾ ॥੧੫॥ जोग अगनि कहढ़ बहढ़रि पढ़रकासा ॥ ता तन कीयो पढ़रान को नासा ॥१५॥ But Sati (Parvati) lighted her Yoga-fire and with that fire, her body was destroyed.15.

ਆਇ ਨਾਰਦ ਇਮ ਸਿਵਹਿ ਜਤਾਈ ॥ ਕਹਾਂ ਬੈਠਿਹੋ ਭਾਂਗ ਚੜਾਈ ॥ आइ नारद इम सिवहि जताई ॥ कहां बैठिहो भांग चड़ाई ॥ Narad, on the other side, came to Shiva and said, "Why art thou sitting here, having been intoxicated with hemp (and there Guari hath burnt herself alive)?

ਛ੝ਟਿਯੋ ਧਯਾਨ ਕੋਪ੝ ਜੀਯ ਜਾਗਾ ॥ ਗਹਿ ਤ੝ਰਿਸੂਲ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਉਠ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧੬॥ छढ़टियो धयान कोपढ़ जीय जागा ॥ गहि तढ़रिसूल तिह को उठ भागा ॥१६॥ Hearing this, Shiva`s meditation was shattered and his heart was filled with rage; he held up his trident and ran towards that side.16.

ਜਬ ਹੀ ਜਾਤ ਭਯੋ ਤਿਹ ਥਲੈ ॥ ਲਯੋ ਉਠਾਇ ਸੂਲ ਕਰ ਬਲੈ ॥ जब ही जात भयो तिह थलै ॥ लयो उठाइ सूल कर बलै ॥ When Shiva reached the place where Sati had burnt herself, he caught his trident also very firmly.

ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਤਿਨ ਕਰੇ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥ ਸਕਲ ਬਿਧ੝ੰਸ ਜੱਗ ਕਰ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੧੭॥ भांत भांत तिन करे पढ़रहारा ॥ सकल बिधढ़ंस जढ़ग कर डारा ॥१७॥ With blows of various types, he destroyed the merit of the whole Yajna (sacrifice).17.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥ चौपई ॥ CHAUPAI

ਭਾਂਤਿ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਤਨ ਭੂਪ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ॥ ਇਕ ਇਕ ਤੇ ਕਰ ਦ੝ਇ ਦ੝ਇ ਡਾਰੇ ॥ भांति भांति तन भूप संघारे ॥ इक इक ते कर दढ़इ दढ़इ डारे ॥ He destroyed many kings and chopped their bodies into bits.

ਜਾਕਹ੝ ਪਹ੝ਚਿ ਤ੝ਰਿਸੂਲ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥ ਤਾ ਕਹ੝ ਮਾਰ ਠਉਰ ਹੀ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੧੮॥ जाकहढ़ पहढ़चि तढ़रिसूल पढ़रहारा ॥ ता कहढ़ मार ठउर ही डारा ॥१८॥ On whomsoever the blow of the trident struck, he died there and then.18.

ਜੱਗ ਕ੝ੰਡ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਭਯੋ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥ ਜੂਟ ਜਟਾਨ ਉਖਾਰਸ ਤਬ ਹੀ ॥ जढ़ग कढ़ंड निरखत भयो जब ही ॥ जूट जटान उखारस तब ही ॥ When Shiva looked into the sacrificial pit and saw he burnt body of Gauri, he began to pluck his matted hair.

ਬੀਰ ਭਦ੝ਰ ਤਬ ਕੀਆ ਪ੝ਰਕਾਸਾ ॥ ਉਪਜਤ ਕਰੋ ਨਰੇਸਨ ਨਾਸਾ ॥੧੯॥ बीर भदढ़र तब कीआ पढ़रकासा ॥ उपजत करो नरेसन नासा ॥१९॥ At that time, Virbhandra manifested himself there and after his manifestation, he began to destroy the kings.19.

ਕੇਤਕ ਕਰੇ ਦ੝ਖੰਡ ਨ੝ਰਿਪਤਿ ਬਰ ॥ ਕੇਤਕ ਪਠੈ ਦਝ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਘਰਿ ॥ केतक करे दढ़खंड नढ़रिपति बर ॥ केतक पठै दझ जम के घरि ॥ He chopped several kings into part and sent several of them to the abode of Yama.

ਕੇਤਕ ਗਿਰੇ ਧਰਣਿ ਬਿਕਰਾਰਾ ॥ ਜਨ ਸਰਤਾ ਕੇ ਗਿਰੇ ਕਨਾਰਾ ॥੨੦॥ केतक गिरे धरणि बिकरारा ॥ जन सरता के गिरे कनारा ॥२०॥ Just as with the flooding of the stream, the banks are eroded further, likewise many terrible warriors began to fall on the earth.20.

ਤਬ ਲਉ ਸਿਵਹ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਆਈ ॥ ਗਹਿ ਪਿਨਾਕ ਕਹ੝ ਪਰੋ ਰਿਸਾਈ ॥ तब लउ सिवह चेतना आई ॥ गहि पिनाक कहढ़ परो रिसाई ॥ At that time, Shiva regained his senses and fell on the enemy with his bow in his hand.

ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤਾਣਿ ਬਾਣ ਤਨ ਮਾਰਾ ॥ ਪ੝ਰਾਨ ਤਜੇ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਨਿ ਨ੝ਚਾਰਾ ॥੨੧॥ जा के ताणि बाण तन मारा ॥ पढ़रान तजे तिन पानि नढ़चारा ॥२१॥ Whomsoever Shiva struck his arrow by pulling his bow, he breathed his last there and then.21.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥ चौपई ॥ CHAUPAI

ਡਮਾ ਡਮ ਡਉਰੂ ਬਹ੝ ਬਾਜੇ ॥ ਭੂਤ ਪ੝ਰੇਤ ਦਸਊ ਦਿਸਿ ਗਾਜੇ ॥ डमा डम डउरू बहढ़ बाजे ॥ भूत पढ़रेत दसऊ दिसि गाजे ॥ The tabors began to resound and in all the ten directions, the ghosts and fiends began to roar.

ਝਿਮ ਝਿਮ ਕਰਤ ਅਸਿਨ ਕੀ ਧਾਰਾ ॥ ਨਾਚੇ ਰ੝ੰਡ ਮ੝ੰਡ ਬਿਕਰਾਰਾ ॥੨੨॥ झिम झिम करत असिन की धारा ॥ नाचे रढ़ंड मढ़ंड बिकरारा ॥२२॥ The swords glittered and their blows were showered and the headless trunks began to dance on all the four sides.22.

ਬੱਜੇ ਢੋਲ ਸਨਾਇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ॥ ਜ੝ਟੇ ਜੰਗ ਕੋ ਜੋਧ ਜ੝ਝਾਰੇ ॥ बढ़जे ढोल सनाइ नगारे ॥ जढ़टे जंग को जोध जढ़झारे ॥ The trumpets and drums resounded and their sound was heard; the warriors fought bravely in the war.

ਖਹਿ ਖਹਿ ਮਰੇ ਅਪਰ ਰਿਸ ਬਢੇ ॥ ਬਹ੝ਰਿ ਨ ਦੇਖੀਯਤ ਤਾਜੀਅਨ ਚਢੇ ॥੨੩॥ खहि खहि मरे अपर रिस बढे ॥ बहढ़रि न देखीयत ताजीअन चढे ॥२३॥ They collided with one another, being filled with great anger, and they were never seen again, riding on their horses.23.

ਜਾ ਪਰ ਮ੝ਸਟ ਤ੝ਰਿਸੂਲ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥ ਤਾਕਹ੝ ਠਉਰ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਡਾਰਾ ॥ जा पर मढ़सट तढ़रिसूल पढ़रहारा ॥ ताकहढ़ ठउर मार ही डारा ॥ On whomsoever, there was the blow of the trident, held in the fist of Shiva, he was killed there and then,

ਝਸੋ ਭਯੋ ਬੀਰ ਘਮਸਾਨਾ ॥ ਭਕ ਭਕਾਇ ਤਹ ਜਗੇ ਮਸਾਨਾ ॥੨੪॥ झसो भयो बीर घमसाना ॥ भक भकाइ तह जगे मसाना ॥२४॥ Virbhadra foutht such a fierce fight, that in great confusion, the ghosts and fiends were awakened.24.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥ दोहरा ॥ DOHRA

ਤੀਰ ਤਬਰ ਬਰਛੀ ਬਿਛੂਅ ਬਰਸੇ ਬਿਸਖ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ तीर तबर बरछी बिछूअ बरसे बिसख अनेक ॥ The arrows, daggers, lances and other types of weapons were showered,

ਸਭ ਸੂਰਾ ਜੂਝਤ ਭਝ ਸਾਬਤ ਬਚਾ ਨ ਝਕ ॥੨੫॥ सभ सूरा जूझत भझ साबत बचा न झक ॥२५॥ And all the warriors fell as martyras and none remained alive.25.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥ चौपई ॥ CHAUPAI

ਕਟਿ ਕਟਿ ਮਰੇ ਨਰੇਸ ਦ੝ਖੰਡਾ ॥ ਬਾਇ ਹਨੇ ਗਿਰ ਗੇ ਜਨ ਝੰਡਾ ॥ कटि कटि मरे नरेस दढ़खंडा ॥ बाइ हने गिर गे जन झंडा ॥ The kings, chopped into bits, were lying the cluster of trees fallen down by the blow of wind.

ਸੂਲ ਸੰਭਾਰਿ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਜਬ ਪਰਿਯੋ ॥ ਚਿਤ੝ਰ ਬਚਿਤ੝ਰ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਕਰਿਯੋ ॥੨੬॥ सूल सढ़मभारि रढ़दढ़र जब परियो ॥ चितढ़र बचितढ़र अयोधन करियो ॥२६॥ When Rudra, holding his trident wrought the destruction, then the scence of that place looked very queer.26.

ਭਾਜ ਭਾਜ ਤਬ ਚਲੇ ਨਰੇਸਾ ॥ ਜਗ ਬਿਸਾਰ ਸੰਭਾਰਿਯੋ ਦੇਸਾ ॥ भाज भाज तब चले नरेसा ॥ जग बिसार सढ़मभारियो देसा ॥ Then the kings, forgetting the Yajna, began to run away to their countries.

ਜਬ ਰਣ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਹੂਝ ਧਾਝ ॥ ਭਾਜਤ ਭੂਪ ਨ ਬਾਚਨ ਪਾਝ ॥੨੭॥ जब रण रढ़दढ़र रढ़दढ़र हूझ धाझ ॥ भाजत भूप न बाचन पाझ ॥२७॥ When Rudra pursued them as fury-incarnate, then none of the running kings could survive.27.

ਤਬ ਸਭ ਭਰੇ ਤੇਜ ਤਨ੝ ਰਾਜਾ ॥ ਬਾਜਨ ਲਗੇ ਅਨੰਤਨ ਬਾਜਾ ॥ तब सभ भरे तेज तनढ़ राजा ॥ बाजन लगे अनंतन बाजा ॥ Then all the kings, becoming alert, were highly activated and the musical instruments resounded from all the sides.

ਮਚਿਯੋ ਬਹ੝ਰਿ ਘੋਰਿ ਸੰਗ੝ਰਾਮਾ ॥ ਜਮ ਕੋ ਭਰਾ ਛਿਨਕ ਮਹਿ ਧਾਮਾ ॥੨੮॥ मचियो बहढ़रि घोरि संगढ़रामा ॥ जम को भरा छिनक महि धामा ॥२८॥ Then the war become more intense and the house of Yama began to be filled with the dead.28.

ਭੂਪਤ ਫਿਰੇ ਜ੝ੱਧ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਨ ॥ ਲੈ ਲੈ ਬਾਣਿ ਪਾਣਿ ਹਥਿਯਾਰਨ ॥ भूपत फिरे जढ़ढ़ध के कारन ॥ लै लै बाणि पाणि हथियारन ॥ The kings returned with several kinds of arrows and weapons for waging the war.

ਧਾਇ ਧਾਇ ਅਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰਾ ॥ ਜਨ ਕਰ ਚੋਟ ਪਰਤ ਘਰੀਯਾਰਾ ॥੨੯॥ धाइ धाइ अरि करत पढ़रहारा ॥ जन कर चोट परत घरीयारा ॥२९॥ They began to strike blows speedily like the strokes on the gong.29.

ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ਰਣਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਅਖੰਡਾ ॥ ਕਾਂਪਿਯੋ ਖੰਡ ਨਵੇ ਬ੝ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ॥ खंड खंड रणि गिरे अखंडा ॥ कांपियो खंड नवे बढ़रहमंडा ॥ The mighty warriors began to fall as bits and the nine regions of the world trembled.

ਛਾਡਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਅਸਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਨਰੇਸਾ ॥ ਮਚਿਯੋ ਜ੝ਧ੝ ਸ੝ਯੰਬਰ ਜੈਸਾ ॥੩੦॥ छाडि छाडि असि गिरे नरेसा ॥ मचियो जढ़धढ़ सढ़यढ़मबर जैसा ॥३०॥ Forsaking their swords, the kings began to fall down and there was dreadful scene in the battlefield.30.

ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ नराज छंद ॥ NARAAJ STANZA

ਅਰ੝ੱਝੇ ਕਿਕਾਣੀ ॥ ਧਰੇ ਸਸਤ੝ਰ ਪਾਣੀ ॥ अरढ़ढ़झे किकाणी ॥ धरे ससतढ़र पाणी ॥ The warriors riding on the horses, coming down, began to roam, holding their weapons;

ਪਰੀ ਮਾਰ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਕੜੱਕੇ ਕਮਾਣੀ ॥੩੧॥ परी मार बाणी ॥ कड़ढ़के कमाणी ॥३१॥ The arrows were discharged and the bows crackled.31.

ਝੜੱਕੇ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾਣੀ ॥ ਧਰੇ ਧੂਰ ਧਾਣੀ ॥ झड़ढ़के कढ़रिपाणी ॥ धरे धूर धाणी ॥ The sword began to fall and the dust rose from the earth upwards.

ਚੜੇ ਬਾਨ ਸਾਣੀ ॥ ਰਟੇ ਝਕ ਪਾਣੀ ॥੩੨॥ चड़े बान साणी ॥ रटे झक पाणी ॥३२॥ On one side, the sharp arrows are being discharged and on the other side people are repeating request for water.32.

ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ नराज छंद ॥ NARAAJ STANZA

ਚਵੀ ਚਾਂਵਡਾਣੀ ॥ ਜ੝ਟੇ ਹਾਣ ਹਾਣੀ ॥ चवी चांवडाणी ॥ जढ़टे हाण हाणी ॥ The vultures are swooping down and the warriors equal in strength are fighting.

ਹਸੀ ਦੇਵ ਰਾਣੀ ॥ ਝਮੱਕੇ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾਣੀ ॥੩੩॥ हसी देव राणी ॥ झमढ़के कढ़रिपाणी ॥३३॥ Durga is laughing and the glittering swords are being struck.33.

ਬ੝ਰਿਧ ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ बढ़रिध नराज छंद ॥ BRIDH NARAAJ STANZA

ਸ੝ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਪ੝ਕਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ॥ ਅਨੰਤ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕੇ ਗਣੋ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਬੀਰਹਾ ਦਲੇ ॥ सढ़ मार मार सूरमा पढ़कार मार के चले ॥ अनंत रढ़दढ़र के गणो बिअंत बीरहा दले ॥ The brave fighters marched forward with their shouts of "kill, kill". And form this side, the ganas of Rudra destroyed innumerable warriors.

ਘਮੰਡ ਘੋਰ ਸਾਵਣੀ ਅਘੋਰ ਜਿਉ ਘਟਾ ਉਠੀ ॥ ਅਨੰਤ ਬੂੰਦ ਬਾਣ ਧਾਰ ਸ੝ੱਧ ਕ੝ਰ੝ਧ ਕੈ ਬ੝ਠੀ ॥੩੪॥ घमंड घोर सावणी अघोर जिउ घटा उठी ॥ अनंत बूंद बाण धार सढ़ढ़ध कढ़रढ़ध कै बढ़ठी ॥३४॥ The furious arrows are being showered like the drops form the visible rising dark thundering clouds in the month of Sawan.34.

ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ नराज छंद ॥ NARAAJ STNAZA

ਬਿਅੰਤ ਸੂਰ ਧਾਵਹੀ ॥ ਸ੝ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਘਾਵਹੀ ॥ ਅਘਾਇ ਘਾਇ ਉਠਹੀਂ ॥ਅਨੇਕ ਬਾਣ ਬ੝ਠਹੀਂ ॥੩੫॥ बिअंत सूर धावही ॥ सढ़ मार मार घावही ॥ अघाइ घाइ उठहीं ॥अनेक बाण बढ़ठहीं ॥३५॥ Many warriors are running forward and with their blows are wounding the enemies. Many warriors, being wounded, are roaming and showering arrows.35.

ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ नराज छंद ॥ NARAAJ STANZA

ਅਨੰਤ ਅਸਤ੝ਰ ਸੱਜਕੈ ॥ ਚਲੇ ਸ੝ ਬੀਰ ਗੱਜਕੈ ॥ अनंत असतढ़र सढ़जकै ॥ चले सढ़ बीर गढ़जकै ॥ Bedecked with several arms, the warriors are marching forward and thundering;

ਨਿਰਭੈ ਹਥਿਯਾਰ ਝਾਰਹੀਂ ॥ ਸ੝ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਉਚਾਰਹੀਂ ॥੩੬॥ निरभै हथियार झारहीं ॥ सढ़ मार मार उचारहीं ॥३६॥ And striking their blows fearlessly, are shouting "kill, kill".36.

ਘਮੰਡ ਘੋਰ ਜਿਉ ਘਟਾ ॥ ਚਲੇ ਬਨਾਇ ਤਿਉ ਥਟਾ ॥ घमंड घोर जिउ घटा ॥ चले बनाइ तिउ थटा ॥ Preparing themselves like the thundering dark clouds, the brave fighters are marching forward.

ਸ੝ ਸਸਤ੝ਰ ਸੂਰ ਸੋਭਹੀਂ ॥ ਸ੝ਤਾ ਸ੝ਰਾਨ ਲੋਭਹੀਂ ॥੩੭॥ सढ़ ससतढ़र सूर सोभहीं ॥ सढ़ता सढ़रान लोभहीं ॥३७॥ Bedecked with weapons, they are looking so beautiful that the daughters of the gods are getting allured by them.37.

ਸ੝ ਬੀਰ ਬੀਨ ਕੈ ਬਰੈਂ ॥ ਸ੝ਰੇਸ ਲੋਗਿ ਬਿਚਰੈਂ ॥ सढ़ बीर बीन कै बरैं ॥ सढ़रेस लोगि बिचरैं ॥ They are very selective in wedding the warriors and all the heroes are moving about and looking impressive in the battlefield like Indra, the king of gods.

ਸ੝ ਤ੝ਰਾਸ ਭੂਪ ਜੇ ਬਜੇ ॥ ਸ੝ ਦੇਵ ਪ੝ਤ੝ਰਕਾ ਤਜੇ ॥੩੮॥ सढ़ तढ़रास भूप जे बजे ॥ सढ़ देव पढ़तढ़रका तजे ॥३८॥ All those kings, who are frightened, they have been abandoned by the daughters of the gods.38.

ਬ੝ਰਿਧ ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ बढ़रिध नराज छंद ॥ BRIDH NARAAJ STANZA

ਸ੝ ਸਸਤ੝ਰ ਅਸਤ੝ਰ ਸੱਜਕੇ ਪਰੇ ਹਕਾਰ ਕੈ ਹਠੀ ॥ ਬਿਲੋਕਿ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕੋ ਬਨਾਇ ਸੈਣ ਝਕਠੀ ॥ सढ़ ससतढ़र असतढ़र सढ़जके परे हकार कै हठी ॥ बिलोकि रढ़दढ़र रढ़दढ़र को बनाइ सैण झकठी ॥ The warriors thundering dreadfully and bedecked with arms and weapons fell (on the enemy) and seeing the anger of Rudra, they gathered all the forces.

ਅਨੰਤ ਘੋਰ ਸਾਵਣੀ ਦ੝ਰੰਤ ਜਿਯੋ ਉਠੀ ਘਟਾ ॥ ਸ੝ ਸੋਭ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਨਚੈ ਸ੝ ਛੀਨਿ ਛਤ੝ਰ ਕੀ ਛਟਾ ॥੩੯॥ अनंत घोर सावणी दढ़रंत जियो उठी घटा ॥ सढ़ सोभ सूरमा नचै सढ़ छीनि छतढ़र की छटा ॥३९॥ They gathered quickly like the rising and thundering clouds of Sawan and gathering the glory of heaven in themselves, began to dance, being highly intoxicated.39.

ਬ੝ਰਿਧ ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ बढ़रिध नराज छंद ॥ BRIDH NARAAJ STNAZA

ਕਿ ਪਾਇ ਖੱਗ ਪਾਣ ਮੋ ਤ੝ਰਪਾਇ ਤਾਜੀਯਨ ਤਹਾਂ ॥ ਜ੝ਆਨ ਆਨਕੈ ਪਰੇ ਸ੝ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਠਾਢਬੋ ਜਹਾਂ ॥ कि पाइ खढ़ग पाण मो तढ़रपाइ ताजीयन तहां ॥ जढ़आन आनकै परे सढ़ रढ़दढ़र ठाढबो जहां ॥ Holding their swords in their hands and galloping their horses, the mighty youthful warriors stopped there, where Rudra was standing.

ਬਿਅੰਤ ਬਾਣ ਸੈਹਥੀ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰ ਆਨ ਕੇ ਕਰੈਂ ॥ ਧਕੇਲ ਰੇਲਿ ਲੈ ਚਲੈ ਪਛੇਲ ਪਾਵ ਨਾ ਟਰੈਂ ॥੪੦॥ बिअंत बाण सैहथी पढ़रहार आन के करैं ॥ धकेल रेलि लै चलै पछेल पाव ना टरैं ॥४०॥ The brave fighters began to inflict blows with many types of arrows and weapons and forcibly moved forward, without retracing their steps.40.

ਸੜੱਕ ਸੂਲ ਸੈਹਥੀ ਤੜੱਕ ਤੇਗ ਤੀਰਯੰ ॥ ਬਬੱਕ ਬਾਘ ਜਯੋਂ ਬਲੀ ਭਭੱਕ ਘਾਇ ਬੀਰਯੰ ॥ सड़ढ़क सूल सैहथी तड़ढ़क तेग तीरयं ॥ बबढ़क बाघ जयों बली भभढ़क घाइ बीरयं ॥ The clattering of daggers and sword is being heard; the warriors are wounding one another, roaring like lions.

ਅਘਾਇ ਘਾਇਕੈ ਗਿਰੇ ਪਛੇਲ ਪਾਵ ਨਾ ਟਰੇ ॥ ਸ੝ ਬੀਨ ਬੀਨ ਅੱਛਰੇ ਪ੝ਰਬੀਨ ਦੀਨ ਹ੝ਝ ਬਰੇ ॥੪੧॥ अघाइ घाइकै गिरे पछेल पाव ना टरे ॥ सढ़ बीन बीन अछरे पढ़रबीन दीन हढ़झ बरे ॥४१॥ On getting wounded the warriors are falling down, but are not retracing their steps.41.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥ चौपई ॥ CHAUPAI

ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਜੂਝਿ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਸਭ ਸਾਥਾ ॥ ਰਹਿ ਗਯੋ ਦੱਛ ਅਕੇਲ ਅਨਾਥਾ ॥ इह बिधि जूझि गिरियो सभ साथा ॥ रहि गयो दढ़छ अकेल अनाथा ॥ In this way, all his companions fell down and Daksha was only left behind.

ਬਚੇ ਬੀਰ ਤੇ ਬਹ੝ਰਿ ਬ੝ਲਾਇਸ ॥ ਪਹਰ ਕਵਚ ਦ੝ੰਦਭੀ ਬਜਾਇਸ ॥੪੨॥ बचे बीर ते बहढ़रि बढ़लाइस ॥ पहर कवच दढ़ंदभी बजाइस ॥४२॥ He called again his remaining fighters and wearing his armour, he caused the resounding of the musical instrument.42.

ਆਪਨ ਚਲਾ ਜ੝ੱਧ ਕਹ੝ ਰਾਜਾ ॥ ਜੋਰ ਕਰੋਰ ਅਯੋਧਨ ਸਾਜਾ ॥ आपन चला जढ़ढ़ध कहढ़ राजा ॥ जोर करोर अयोधन साजा ॥ The king Daksha, moved forward, with the strength of the innumerable warriors.

ਛੂਟਤ ਬਾਣ ਕਮਾਣ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ ਜਨ੝ ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਹ੝ਝ ਗਯੋ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥੪੩॥ छूटत बाण कमाण अपारा ॥ जनढ़ दिन ते हढ़झ गयो अंधारा ॥४३॥ Innumerable arrows were discharged from his bow and such a scene was crated that there was darkness during the day.43.

ਭੂਤ ਪਰੇਤ ਮਸਾਣ ਹਕਾਰੇ ॥ ਦ੝ਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਡਉਰੂ ਡਮਕਾਰੇ ॥ भूत परेत मसाण हकारे ॥ दढ़हूं ओर डउरू डमकारे ॥ The ghosts and friends began to shout and the tabors resounded from both the sides.

ਮਹਾਂ ਘੋਰ ਮੱਚਿਯੋ ਸੰਗ੝ਰਾਮਾ ॥ ਜੈਸਕ ਲੰਕਿ ਰਾਵਣ ਅਰ੝ ਰਾਮਾ ॥੪੪॥ महां घोर मढ़चियो संगढ़रामा ॥ जैसक लंकि रावण अरढ़ रामा ॥४४॥ A fierce fighting ensued and it appeared that the war was going on between Rama and Ravana in Sri Lanka.44.

ਭ੝ਜੰਗ ਪ੝ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ॥ भढ़जंग पढ़रयात छंद॥ BHUJANG PRAYAAT STNAZA

ਭਯੋ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕੋਪੰ ਧਰਿਯੋ ਸੂਲ ਪਾਣੰ ॥ ਕਰੇ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਸਰਬ ਖਾਲੀ ਪਲਾਣੰ ॥ भयो रढ़दढ़र कोपं धरियो सूल पाणं ॥ करे सूरमा सरब खाली पलाणं ॥ In great ire, Rudra held his trident in his hand and vacating the saddles of many horses, he killed many warriors.

ਉਤੇ ਝਕ ਦੱਛੰ ਇਤੇ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਝਕੰ ॥ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਜ੝ੱਧ੝ ਭਾਂਤੰ ਅਨੇਕੰ ॥੪੫॥ उते झक दढ़छं इते रढ़दढ़र झकं ॥ करियो कोप कै जढ़ढ़धढ़ भांतं अनेकं ॥४५॥ On the other side Daksha was alone on this side, Rudra was also alone; both of them highly infuriated, waged the war in many ways.45.

ਭ੝ਜੰਗ ॥ भढ़जंग ॥ BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਜਾਨ ਕੂਟਸਥਲੀ ਬ੝ਰਿਛ ਮੂਲੰ ॥ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਦੱਛ ਤੈਸੇ ਕਟਿਯੋ ਸੀਸ ਸੂਲੰ ॥ गिरियो जान कूटसथली बढ़रिछ मूलं ॥ गिरियो दढ़छ तैसे कटियो सीस सूलं ॥ Rudra chopped the head Daksha with his trident and he fell down like an uprooted tree.

ਪਰਿਯੋ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜੰ ਭਯੋ ਦੇਹ ਘਾਤੰ ॥ ਹਨਿਯੋ ਜਾਨ ਬਜ੝ਰੰ ਭਯੋ ਪਬ ਪਾਤੰ ॥੪੬॥ परियो राज राजं भयो देह घातं ॥ हनियो जान बजढ़रं भयो पब पातं ॥४६॥ Daksha, the king of kings, fell down after his head was cut and he looked like the fallen mountain, whose wings had been cut by Indra with his weapon Vajra.46.

ਗਯੋ ਗਰਬ ਸਰਬੰ ਭਜੋ ਸੂਰਬੀਰੰ ॥ ਚਲਿਯੋ ਭਾਜ ਅੰਤਹ ਪ੝ਰੰ ਹ੝ਝ ਅਧੀਰੰ ॥ गयो गरब सरबं भजो सूरबीरं ॥ चलियो भाज अंतह पढ़रं हढ़झ अधीरं ॥ All the pride of Daksha was shattered and the mighty Rudra destroyed him completely.

ਗਰੇ ਡਾਰ ਅੰਚਰ ਪਰੇ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਪਾਯੰ ॥ ਅਹੋ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕੀਜੈ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾ ਕੈ ਸਹਾਯੰ ॥੪੭॥ गरे डार अंचर परे रढ़दढ़र पायं ॥ अहो रढ़दढ़र कीजै कढ़रिपा कै सहायं ॥४७॥ Then Rudra, getting impatient, speedily came to Antaipura, where everyone came with the cloth around his neck and falling at his feet said, "O Rudra; be merciful to us, protect and help us".47.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥ चौपई ॥ CHUPAI

ਹਮ ਤ੝ਮਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਓਜ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥ ਤ੝ਮਹੋ ਮਹਾਂ ਤਪੀ ਬਲਵਾਨਾ ॥ हम तढ़मरो हरि ओज न जाना ॥ तढ़महो महां तपी बलवाना ॥ O Shiva; we have not recognized thee, you are supremely mighty and an ascetic.

ਸ੝ਨਤ ਬਚਨ ਭਝ ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾਲਾ ॥ ਅਜਾ ਸੀਸ ਨ੝ਰਿਪ ਜੋਰਿ ਉਤਾਲਾ ॥੪੮॥ सढ़नत बचन भझ रढ़दढ़र कढ़रिपाला ॥ अजा सीस नढ़रिप जोरि उताला ॥४८॥ Hearing these words, Rudra become gracious and he caused Daksha to become alive again and get up.48.

ਰ੝ਦ੝ਰ ਕਾਲ ਕੋ ਧਰਾ ਧਿਆਨਾ ॥ ਬਹ੝ਰਿ ਜੀਯਾਇ ਨਰੇਸ ਉਠਾਨਾ ॥ रढ़दढ़र काल को धरा धिआना ॥ बहढ़रि जीयाइ नरेस उठाना ॥ Then Rudra meditated upon the Lord and restored the life of all other kings.

ਰਾਜ ਸ੝ਤਾ ਪਤਿ ਸਕਲ ਜਿਯਾਝ ॥ ਕਉਤਕ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਸੰਤ ਤ੝ਰਿਪਤਾਝ ॥੪੯॥ राज सढ़ता पति सकल जियाझ ॥ कउतक निरखि संत तढ़रिपताझ ॥४९॥ He restored the life of the husband of all the princesses and seeing this wonderful performance, all the saints were extremely peeased.49.

ਨਾਰਿ ਹੀਨ ਸਿਵ ਕਾਮ ਖਿਝਾਯੋ ॥ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਭ੝ ਘਨੋ ਦ੝ਖ੝ ਪਾਯੋ ॥ नारि हीन सिव काम खिझायो ॥ ता ते सढ़मभढ़ घनो दढ़खढ़ पायो ॥ The god of love troubled greatly the god Shiva, who was without his consort, with which Shiva remained in great agony.

ਅਧਿਕ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਕਾਮ ਚਰਾਯਸ ॥ ਬਿਤਨ ਨਾਮ ਤਿੱਹ ਤਦਿਨ ਕਹਾਯਸ ॥੫੦॥ अधिक कोप कै काम चरायस ॥ बितन नाम तिढ़ह तदिन कहायस ॥५०॥ Being extremely vexed, once in great fury, Shiva reduced Kamdev (the god of love) to ashes and from that day this god was called Anang (body-less).50.
