Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib is located in heart of the city in famous Field Ganj area of Ludhiana city opposite to Jagraon Bridge. Accoding to a news report, daily an average 50,000 devotees visit the Gurdwara and paying homage to the respected Sri Guru Granth Sahib. A majority of the youngsters and people of other faiths, find it difficult to understand the meaning of the Gurbani that is being sung as Kirtan in Gurdwaras everywhere.

This Gurdwara in Ludhiana has has adopted modern methods to reach out to believers. This is the first Gurdwara in India to adopt Hi-tech projection which puts Gurbani on wide screens so devotees can better understand the hymns of the scripture as the priests sing.

Its adoration or veneration of Guru Granth Sahib, many of the current generation raised in a cosmopolitan ambience, cannot understand the text of the Gurbani—literally 'the words of the teachers'. So the screens allow the devotees and visitors to follow the words as they are sung with the verses in Gurmukhi along with translations in English, which has helped the devotees to sing along in a sort of karaoke style.

They can now read, understand and join in while the devotional songs are being sung live by the Gurudwara's choir.

"Such screens are common in Gurdwaras abroad, but this is a first in India here at Gurudwara Dukh Niwaran ,in Ludhiana. Not only children, but even the young and the old, derive enormous benefit from this screen," said Pritpal Singh, the President of the Gurudwara management.

The younger generation which has little knowledge of gurbani can now read and sing along. Not only children, but even the young and the old, derive enormous benefit from the screen ," said Pritpal Singh, the President of the Gurudwara's management.

"The benefit of a projector is that earlier we just sat in a Gurudwara, but we were not able to understand what the thoughts were. Now, with the help of projector we understand the exact meaning of gurbani. This is very good for everyone," says Simranjit Singh who continues on to that the hi-tech device has helped him better understand the philosophy, depth and truth in the religious scriptures.

Many other feel the same way saying the new technology has helped them understand better the finer aspects of the hymns.

"The screen is very beneficial for everyone, I think because one can understand each and every word clearly and we can sing shabads (verses) by viewing this screen. Moreover the people who have been singing the shabads incorrectly find the new system very beneficial for them. This way, they can sing it correctly," said Daljit Kaur another devotee.
