Gurbani on eat, sleep and talk little:

Hĝt pataṇ gẖar gurū ḝikẖĝ▫i▫ĝ sėhje sacẖ vĝpĝro. Kẖandiṯ niḝrĝ alap ahĝraʼn Nĝnak ṯaṯ bīcẖĝro. ((8))
The Guru has revealed the stores and the city within the home of my own heart, where I intuitively carry on the true trade.
Sleep little, and eat little; O Nanak, this is the essence of wisdom". ((8))

Raiṇ gavĝ▫ī so▫e kai ḝivas gavĝ▫i▫ĝ kẖĝ▫e. Hīre jaisĝ janam hai ka▫udī baḝle jĝ▫e. ((1))
The nights are wasted sleeping, and the days are wasted eating.

Human life is such a precious jewel, but it is being lost in exchange for a mere shell. ((1))

O Nanak, approved is the birth of those, within whose consciousness the Lord abides.

Useless talk and babbling is useless, my friend. ((1))
