ਢੰਢੋਲਤ ਢੂਢਤ ਹਉ ਫਿਰੀ ਢਹਿ ਢਹਿ ਪਵਨਿ ਕਰਾਰਿ ॥
ढंढोलत ढूढत हउ फिरी ढहि ढहि पवनि करारि ॥
Dẖandẖolaṯ dẖūdẖaṯ hao firī dẖeh dẖeh pavan karĝr.
Searching and seeking, I fell down and collapsed upon the bank of the river of life.

ਭਾਰੇ ਢਹਤੇ ਢਹਿ ਪਝ ਹਉਲੇ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥
भारे ढहते ढहि पझ हउले निकसे पारि ॥
Bẖĝrė dẖahṯė dẖeh paė haulė niksė pĝr.
Those who are heavy with sin sink down, but those who are light swim across.

ਅਮਰ ਅਜਾਚੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
अमर अजाची हरि मिले तिन कै हउ बलि जाउ ॥
Amar ajĝcẖī har milė ṯin kai hao bal jĝo.
I am a sacrifice to those who meet the immortal and immeasurable Lord.

ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਧੂੜਿ ਅਘ੝ਲੀਝ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥
तिन की धूड़ि अघढ़लीझ संगति मेलि मिलाउ ॥
Ŧin kī ḝẖūṛ agẖulīai sangaṯ mėl milĝo.
The dust of their feet brings emancipation; in their company, we are united in the Lord's Union.

ਮਨ੝ ਦੀਆ ਗ੝ਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਉ ॥
मनढ़ दीआ गढ़रि आपणै पाइआ निरमल नाउ ॥
Man ḝīĝ gur ĝpṇai pĝiĝ nirmal nĝo.
I gave my mind to my Guru, and received the Immaculate Name.

ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ਦੀਆ ਤਿਸ੝ ਸੇਵਸਾ ਤਿਸ੝ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
जिनि नामढ़ दीआ तिसढ़ सेवसा तिसढ़ बलिहारै जाउ ॥
Jin nĝm ḝīĝ ṯis sėvsĝ ṯis balihĝrai jĝo.
I serve the One who gave me the Naam; I am a sacrifice to Him.

ਜੋ ਉਸਾਰੇ ਸੋ ਢਾਹਸੀ ਤਿਸ੝ ਬਿਨ੝ ਅਵਰ੝ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
जो उसारे सो ढाहसी तिसढ़ बिनढ़ अवरढ़ न कोइ ॥
Jo usĝrė so dẖĝhsī ṯis bin avar na koė.
He who builds, also demolishes; there is no other than Him.

ਗ੝ਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਤਿਸ੝ ਸੰਮ੝ਹ੝ਹਲਾ ਤਾ ਤਨਿ ਦੂਖ੝ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੩੧॥
गढ़र परसादी तिसढ़ समढ़हला ता तनि दूखढ़ न होइ ॥३१॥
Gur parsĝdī ṯis sammĥlĝ ṯĝ ṯan ḝūkẖ na hoė. ||31||
By Guru's Grace, I contemplate Him, and then my body does not suffer in pain. ||31||

ਣਾ ਕੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਿਸ੝ ਗਹੀ ਣਾ ਕੋ ਹੋਆ ਨ ਹੋਗ੝ ॥
णा को मेरा किसढ़ गही णा को होआ न होगढ़ ॥
Ņĝ ko mėrĝ kis gahī ṇĝ ko hoĝ na hog.
No one is mine - whose gown should I grasp and hold? No one ever was, and no one shall ever be mine.

ਆਵਣਿ ਜਾਣਿ ਵਿਗ੝ਚੀਝ ਦ੝ਬਿਧਾ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਰੋਗ੝ ॥
आवणि जाणि विगढ़चीझ दढ़बिधा विआपै रोगढ़ ॥
Āvaṇ jĝṇ vigucẖīai ḝubiḝẖĝ viĝpai rog.
Coming and going, one is ruined, afflicted with the disease of dual-mindedness.

ਣਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਕਲਰ ਕੰਧ ਗਿਰੰਤਿ ॥
णाम विहूणे आदमी कलर कंध गिरंति ॥
Ņĝm vihūṇė ĝḝmī kalar kanḝẖ giranṯ.
Those beings who lack the Naam, the Name of the Lord, collapse like pillars of salt.

ਵਿਣ੝ ਨਾਵੈ ਕਿਉ ਛੂਟੀਝ ਜਾਇ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਅੰਤਿ ॥
विणढ़ नावै किउ छूटीझ जाइ रसातलि अंति ॥
viṇ nĝvai kio cẖẖūtīai jĝė rasĝṯal anṯ.
Without the Name, how can they find release? They fall into hell in the end.

ਗਣਤ ਗਣਾਵੈ ਅਖਰੀ ਅਗਣਤ੝ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
गणत गणावै अखरी अगणतढ़ साचा सोइ ॥
Gaṇaṯ gaṇĝvai akẖrī agṇaṯ sĝcẖĝ soė.
Using a limited number of words, we describe the unlimited True Lord.

ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਤਿਹੀਣ੝ ਹੈ ਗ੝ਰ ਬਿਨ੝ ਗਿਆਨ੝ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
अगिआनी मतिहीणढ़ है गढ़र बिनढ़ गिआनढ़ न होइ ॥
Agiĝnī maṯihīṇ hai gur bin giĝn na hoė.
The ignorant lack understanding. Without the Guru, there is no spiritual wisdom.

ਤੂਟੀ ਤੰਤ੝ ਰਬਾਬ ਕੀ ਵਾਜੈ ਨਹੀ ਵਿਜੋਗਿ ॥
तूटी तंतढ़ रबाब की वाजै नही विजोगि ॥
Ŧūtī ṯanṯ rabĝb kī vĝjai nahī vijog.
The separated soul is like the broken string of a guitar, which does not vibrate its sound.

ਵਿਛ੝ੜਿਆ ਮੇਲੈ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੩੨॥
विछढ़ड़िआ मेलै पढ़रभू नानक करि संजोग ॥३२॥
vicẖẖuṛiĝ mėlai parabẖū Nĝnak kar sanjog. ||32||
God unites the separated souls with Himself, awakening their destiny. ||32||

ਤਰਵਰ੝ ਕਾਇਆ ਪੰਖਿ ਮਨ੝ ਤਰਵਰਿ ਪੰਖੀ ਪੰਚ ॥
तरवरढ़ काइआ पंखि मनढ़ तरवरि पंखी पंच ॥
Ŧarvar kĝiĝ pankẖ man ṯarvar pankẖī pancẖ.
The body is the tree, and the mind is the bird; the birds in the tree are the five senses.

ਤਤ੝ ਚ੝ਗਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਝਕਸੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਫਾਸ ਨ ਰੰਚ ॥
ततढ़ चढ़गहि मिलि झकसे तिन कउ फास न रंच ॥
Ŧaṯ cẖugeh mil ėksė ṯin kao fĝs na rancẖ.
They peck at the essence of reality, and merge with the One Lord. They are never trapped at all.

ਉਡਹਿ ਤ ਬੇਗ੝ਲ ਬੇਗ੝ਲੇ ਤਾਕਹਿ ਚੋਗ ਘਣੀ ॥
उडहि त बेगढ़ल बेगढ़ले ताकहि चोग घणी ॥
Uḝeh ṯa bėgul bėgulė ṯakeh cẖog gẖaṇī.
But the others fly away in a hurry, when they see the food.

ਪੰਖ ਤ੝ਟੇ ਫਾਹੀ ਪੜੀ ਅਵਗ੝ਣਿ ਭੀੜ ਬਣੀ ॥
पंख तढ़टे फाही पड़ी अवगढ़णि भीड़ बणी ॥
Pankẖ ṯutė fĝhī paṛī avguṇ bẖīṛ baṇī.
Their feathers are clipped, and they are caught in the noose; through their mistakes, they are caught in disaster.

ਬਿਨ੝ ਸਾਚੇ ਕਿਉ ਛੂਟੀਝ ਹਰਿ ਗ੝ਣ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਣੀ ॥
बिनढ़ साचे किउ छूटीझ हरि गढ़ण करमि मणी ॥
Bin sĝcẖė kio cẖẖūtīai har guṇ karam maṇī.
Without the True Lord, how can anyone find release? The jewel of the Lord's Glorious Praises comes by the karma of good actions.

ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਝ ਛੂਟੀਝ ਵਡਾ ਆਪਿ ਧਣੀ ॥
आपि छडाझ छूटीझ वडा आपि धणी ॥
Āp cẖẖadĝė cẖẖūtīai vadĝ ĝp ḝẖaṇī.
When He Himself releases them, only then are they released. He Himself is the Great Master.

ਗ੝ਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਛੂਟੀਝ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
गढ़र परसादी छूटीझ किरपा आपि करेइ ॥
Gur parsĝdī cẖẖūtīai kirpĝ ĝp karėi.
By Guru's Grace, they are released, when He Himself grants His Grace.

ਅਪਣੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਵਡਾਈਆ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੩੩॥
अपणै हाथि वडाईआ जै भावै तै देइ ॥३३॥
Apṇai hĝth vadĝīĝ jai bẖĝvai ṯai ḝėė. ||33||
Glorious greatness rests in His Hands. He blesses those with whom He is pleased. ||33||
