Chapar Chiri
Chappar Chiri ( 30º 41'N, 76º 40'E), Bari and Chhoti (senior and junior), are twin villages in Ropar district, along Kharar-Banur Road, now officially named Banda Singh Bahadur Road. Chappar Chiri, It is situated just outside Mohali, a few kms from Landran and 20 Kms from Sirhind. This area was the scene of a historic battle called Battle of Sirhind. Gurdwara Baba Banda Singh Bahadur is situated between the two villages by the side of the metalled link road joining them.
The battle took place around here on 12 May 1710 between the Sikhs led by Banda Singh Bahadur and Wazir Khan, the imperial faujdar of Sirhind. The latter was killed and the Mughal army routed. The Sikhs occupied Sirhind on 14 May 1710. No memorial, however, existed to commemorate the historic event till the 1950's when the two villages jointly established a Gurdwara. In the 1970's a new hall was added in which is now housed the Guru Granth Sahib. The old building is now being used as a primary school. Another small room constructed recently is destined to become a Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Library. The Gurdwara is managed by a committee representing the two villages.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial Mohali , April 12, 2006
Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial will be constructed at Chappar Chiri village by the Punjab Heritage and Education Foundation. Mr Gurbax Singh Shergill, president of the foundation, said that the memorial would be built in the shape of a 51-feet high victory pillar (Fateh Bunga) in the centre of a 30 ft wide circular water point on a raised ground which would be beautifully landscaped.
The entire project would be undertaken by the village panchayat through kar seva.
He said that Mr Thakur Singh Basati from Chicago would be the project in charge and would raise the required funds with the help of Sikhs and Punjabis in the USA and other NRIs from this area. The project would be managed and executed under the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial Trust comprising representatives of Chappar Chiri panchayat and eminent social workers of the adjoining area, including Mohali and Chandigarh.
