Ath Narsingh Avtar Kathan is seventh incarnation present in Dasam Granth, in composition Chobis Avtar written by Guru Gobind Singh.

Etymological Study

  • ਨਰਸਿੰਘ: Person with lion like heart. How will a person can have lion like heart? when he will become ਨਿਰਭਉ , and when he will become Nirbhao? when he will follow Hukam (ਹ੝ਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ਚਲਣਾ) and how could he follow Hukam? By becoming Gurmukh, when he will win himself(mann jitey JAG jeet). Pehlan Maran Qabool = Nirbhao. Prahlad Himself is a Narsingh
  • ਹਿਰਨਾਛ: Mann Mirg = Kabir Hirna doobra, This mann is like hiran or deer which have cool grass that's world.

This is fight between Gurmat and Manmatt. Narsingh is a person who have Gurmat and Hrinyakashyap is manmatt. He think that there is no god, when a person called Narsingh had Discussion of Wisdom then he able to know the presence of god.

ਅਥ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਕਥਨੰ ॥

Now begins the description of Narsingh Incarnation:

ਸ੝ਰੀ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੀ ਸਹਾਇ ॥

Let Shri Bhagauti Ji (The Primal Lord) be helpful.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥

PADHRI STNAZA

ਇਹ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਕੀਯੋ ਦਿਵਰਾਜ ਰਾਜ ॥ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਭਰੇ ਸ੝ਭ ਸਰਬ ਸਾਜ ॥

In this way, Indra, the king of gods ruled and filled the granaries of materials through all modes;

ਜਬ ਦੇਵਤਾਨ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਗਰੂਰ ॥ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਦੈਤ ਉਠੇ ਕਰੂਰ ॥੧॥

When the pride of the gods grew enormously, then in order toshelve their pride, the hard-hearted mighty demons rose again.1.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥

PAADHARI STNAZA

ਲਿਨੋ ਛਿਨਾਇ ਦਿਵਰਾਜ ਰਾਜ ॥ ਬਾਜਿਤ੝ਰ ਨੇਕ ਉਠੇ ਸ੝ ਬਾਜਿ ॥

The kingdom of Indra was seized and this proclamation was made on all sides with the accompaniment of many musical instruments,

ਇਹ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਜਗਤਿ ਦੋਹੀ ਫਿਰਾਇ ॥ ਜਲੰ ਬਾ ਥਲੇਅੰ ਹਿਰਨਾਛ ਰਾਇ ॥੨॥

That Hiranayakashipu is the emperor at all the places.2.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥

PAADHARI STANZA

ਇਕ ਦਯੋਸ ਗਯੋ ਨਿਜ ਨਾਰਿ ਤੀਰ ॥ ਸਜਿ ਸ੝ੱਧ ਸਾਜ ਨਿਜ ਅੰਗਿ ਬੀਰ ॥

One day, this mighty ruler, bedecking himself, went to his wife,

ਕਿਹ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਸ੝ਤ੝ਰਿਯ ਮੋ ਭਯੋ ਨਿਰ੝ਕਤ ॥ ਤਬ ਭਯੋ ਦ੝ਸਟ ਕੋ ਬੀਰਜ ਮ੝ਕਤ ॥੩॥

And absorbed himself with her so intensely that at the time of his intercourse, his semen was discharged.3.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥

PAADHARI STANZA

ਪ੝ਰਹਲਾਦ ਭਗਤ ਲੀਨੋ ਵਤਾਰ ਸਭ ਕਰਨਿ ਕਾਜ ਸੰਤਨ ਉਧਾਰ ॥

From that semen Prahlad was born in order to help nad protect the saints.

ਚਟਸਾਰ ਪੜਨਿ ਸਉਪਯੋ ਨ੝ਰਿਪਾਲਿ ॥ ਪਟੀਯਹਿ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੈ ਗ੝ਪਾਲ ॥੪॥

When the king sent him to school for education, he asked his teacher to write the Name of Lord-God on his tablet.4.

TOTAK STANZA

ਇਕਿ ਦਿਵਸ ਗਯੋ ਚਟਸਾਰ ਨ੝ਰਿਪੰ ॥ ਚਿਤਿ ਚੌਕ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਸ੝ਭਿ ਦੇਖ ਸ੝ਤੰ ॥

One day the king went to the school and seeing his son, he was startled.

ਜ੝ ਪੜਿਯੋ ਦਿਜ ਤੇ ਸ੝ਨਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਰੜੋ ॥ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਸਿਸ ਨਾਮ੝ ਗ੝ਪਾਲ ਪੜੋ ॥੫॥

When the king asked, the child told whatever he had learnt and fearlessly began to read the Name of Lord-God.5.

TOTAK STANZA

ਸ੝ਨਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ਗ੝ਪਾਲ ਰਿਸਯੰ ਅਸ੝ਰੰ ॥ ਬਿਨ੝ ਮੋਹਿ ਸ੝ ਕਉਣ੝ ਭਜੋ ਦ੝ਸਰੰ ॥

On hearing the Name of Lord-God, the demon became furious and said, "Who else is there except me on whom you are meditating?

ਜੀਯ ਮਾਹਿ ਧਰੋ ਸਿਸ੝ ਯਾਹਿ ਹਨੋ ॥ ਜੜ ਕਿਉਂ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ਭਨੋ ॥੬॥

He decided to kill this student and said, "O fool; why are you repeating the name of Lord-God?"6.

TOTAK STNAZA

ਜਲ ਅਉਰ ਥਲੰ ਇਕ ਬੀਰ ਮਨੰ ॥ ਇਹ ਕਾਹਿ ਗ੝ਪਾਲ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ੝ ਭਣੰ ॥

Only Hiranayakashipu is considered the mithty-one in water and on land , then why are you repeating the name of Lord-God"?

ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਬਾਂਧਤ ਥੰਮ ਭਝ ॥ ਸ੝ਨਿ ਸ੝ਰਵਨਨ ਦਾਨਵ ਬੈਨ ਧਝ ॥੭॥

Then, as commanded by the king, the demons tied him with the column.7.

TOTAK STANZA

ਗਹਿ ਮੂੜ ਚਲੇ ਸਿਸ੝ ਮਾਰਨ ਕੋਂ ॥ ਨਿਕਸਯੋ ਬ ਗ੝ਪਾਲ ਉਬਾਰਨ ਕੋਂ ॥

When those foolish persons advanced to kill this student, the Lord manifested Himself at the same time in order to protect His disciple.

ਚਕਚਉਧ ਰਹੇ ਜਨ੝ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਭੈ ॥ ਨਿਕਸਯੋ ਹਰਿ ਫਾਰਿ ਕਿਵਾਰ ਜਬੈ ॥੮॥

Al those who saw the Lord at that time were astonished, the Lord had manifested Himself by tearing off the doors.8

TOTAK STNAZA

ਲਖਿ ਦੇਵ ਦਿਵਾਰ ਸਭੈ ਥਹਰੇ ॥ ਅਵਿਲੋਕ ਚਰਾਚਰ ਹੂਹਿ ਹਿਰੇ ॥

Seeing Him, all the gods and demons trembled and all the animate and inanimate objects became fearful in their bearts;

ਗਰਜੇ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਨਰਾਂਤ ਕਰੰ ॥ ਦ੝ਰਿਗ ਰਤ ਕੀਝ ਮ੝ਖ ਸ੝ਰੌਣ ਭਰੰ ॥੯॥

The Lord in the form of Narsingh (man-lion), with red eyes and the mouth filled with blood, thundered dreadfully.9.

TOTAK STNAZA

ਲਖਿ ਦਾਨਵ ਭਾਜ ਚਲੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ॥ ਗਰਜਿਯੋ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਰਣੰ ਜਬ ਹੀ ॥

Seeing this and hearing the thunder of Narsingh all the demons fled;

ਇਕ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਠਾਢਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਰਣ ਮੈਂ ॥ ਗਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਗਦਾ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਮਨ ਮੈ ॥੧੦॥

Only the Emperor, fearlessly holding his mace in his hand, stood firmly in that battlefield.10.

TOTAK STNAZA

ਲਰਜੇ ਸਭ ਸੂਰ ਨ੝ਰਿਪ ਗਰਜੇ ॥ ਸਮ੝ਹਾਤ ਭਝ ਭਟ ਕੇਹਰਿ ਕੇ ॥

When the Emperor roared loudly, then all the brave warriors trembled and all those warriors came forward in groups before that lion.

ਜ੝ ਗਝ ਸਮ੝ਹੇ ਛਿਤ ਤੈ ਪਟਕੇ ॥ ਰਣਿ ਤੇ ਰਣਧੀਰ ਬਟਾ ਨਟ ਕੇ ॥੧੧॥

All those who went in front of Narsingh, He caught hold of all those warriors like a juggler and knocked them down of the ground.11.

TOTAK STNAZA

ਬਬਕੇ ਰਣ ਧੀਰ ਸ੝ ਬੀਰ ਘਣੇ ॥ ਰਹਿਗੇ ਮਨੋ ਕਿੰਸਕ ਸ੝ਰੋਣ ਸਣੇ ॥

The warriors shouted loudly at one another and saturated with blood began to fall.

ਉਮਗੇ ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰਨ ਤੇ ਰਿਪ ਯੋਂ ॥ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਬਹਾਰਨ ਅਭ੝ਰਨ ਜਿਯੋਂ ॥੧੨॥

The enemies advanced from all the four sides with such intensity like the clouds in the rainy season.12.

TOTAK STNAZA

ਬਰਖੇ ਸਰ ਸ੝ਧ ਸਿਲਾ ਸਿਤਿਯੰ ॥ ਉਮਡੇ ਬਰ ਬੀਰ ਦਸੋ ਦਿਸਯੰ ॥

Advancing from all the ten directions, the warriors began to shower the arrows and stones;

ਚਮਕੰਤ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾਣ ਸ੝ ਬਾਣ ਜ੝ਧੰ ॥ ਫਹਰੰਤ ਧ੝ਜਾ ਜਨ੝ ਬੀਰ ਕ੝ਰ੝ਧੰ ॥੧੩॥

The swords and arrows glistened in the war-field and the brave fighters began to flutter their flags.13.

TOTAK STNAZA

ਹਹਰੰਤ ਹਠੀ ਬਰਖੰਤ ਸਰੰ ॥

The persistent warriors with loud shouts are showering a volley of arrows in this way,

ਜਨ ਸਾਵਣ ਮੇਘ ਬ੝ਠਿਯੋ ਦ੝ਸਰੰ ॥

As if it is the second cloudburst in the mont of Swan;

ਫਹਰੰਤ ਧ੝ਜਾ ਹਹਰੰਤ ਹਯੰ ॥

The flags are fluttering and the horses are neighing;

ਉਪਜਿਯੋ ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨਵ ਰਾਇ ਭਯੰ ॥੧੪॥

And seeing all this scene, the heart of the demon-king was filled with fear.14.

TOTAK STNAZA

ਹਿਹਨਾਤ ਹਯੰ ਗਰਜੰਤ ਗਜੰ ॥

The horses are neighing and the elephants are roaring;

ਭਟ ਬਾਂਹ ਕਟੀ ਜਨ੝ ਇੰਦ੝ਰ ਧ੝ਜੰ ॥

The chopped long arms of the warriors look like the flag of Indra;

ਤਰਫੰਤ ਭਟੰ ਗਰਜੰ ਗਜੰ ॥

The warriors are writhing and the elephants are roaring in such a way,

ਸ੝ਣਿ ਕੈ ਧ੝ਨਿ ਸਾਵਣ ਮੇਘ ਲਜੰ ॥੧੫॥

That the clouds of the month of Sawan are feeling shy.15.

ਤੋਟਕ ॥

TOTAK STANZA

ਬਿਚਲਯੋ ਪਗ ਦ੝ਵੈਕ ਫਿਰਯੋ ਪ੝ਨ ਜਯੋਂ ॥

As soon as the horse of Hiranayakashipu turned a little, he himself deviated and retraced two steps;

ਕਰ ਪ੝ੰਛ ਲਗੇ ਅਹਿ ਕ੝ਰ੝ੱਧਤ ਜਯੋਂ ॥

But still he was infuriated in the manner of the snake who gets infuriated when its tail is crushed by a foot;

ਰਣ ਰੰਗ ਸਮੈ ਮ੝ਖ ਖੌ ਚਮਕਯੋ ॥

His face was shining in the battlefield,

ਲਖਿ ਸੂਰ ਸਰੋਰਹ੝ ਸੋ ਦਮਕਯੋ ॥੧੬॥

Like the blossoming of the lotus on seeing the sun.16.

TOTAK STNANZA

ਰਣ ਰੰਗ ਤ੝ਰੰਗਨ ਝਸ ਭਯੋ ॥ ਸਿਵ ਧਯਾਨ ਛ੝ਟਯੋ ਬ੝ਰਹਮੰਡ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ॥

The horses are moving in so much intoxication and creating noise that the attention of Shiva was dissolved, And it seemed that the universe had been displaced;

ਸਰ ਸੇਲ ਸਿਲਾ ਸਿਤ ਝਸ ਬਹੇ ॥ ਨਭ ਅਉਰ ਧਰਾ ਦੋਊ ਪੂਰ ਰਹੇ ॥੧੭॥

The arrows, daggers and stones were flying and filling both the earth and the sky.17.

TOTAK STNAZA

ਗਨ ਗੰਧ੝ਰਬ ਦੇਖਿ ਦੋਊ ਹਰਖੇ ॥ ਪ੝ਹਪਾਵਲਿ ਦੇਵ ਸਭੈ ਬਰਖੇ ॥

The Ganas and Gandharvas, seeing both, were pleased and the gods showered flowers.

ਮਿਲ ਗੇ ਭਟ ਆਪ ਬਿਖੈ ਦੋਊ ਯੋਂ ॥ ਸਿਸ ਖੇਲਤ ਰੈਣਿ ਹ੝ਡੂਹ੝ਡ ਜਿਯੋਂ ॥੧੮॥

Two warriors were fighting with each other like the children competing with one another in their play during the night.18.

ਬੇਲੀ ਬਿੰਦ੝ਰਮ ਛੰਦ ॥

BELI BINDRAM STANZA

ਰਣ ਧੀਰ ਬੀਰ ਸ੝ ਗੱਜਹੀਂ ॥ ਲਖਿ ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵ ਸ੝ਲੱਜਹੀਂ ॥

The warriors are thundering in the war and seeing them both the gods and demons are feeling shy;

ਇਕ ਸੂਰ ਘਾਇਲ ਘੂੰਮਹੀਂ ॥ ਜਨ ਧੂਮ ਅਧੋ ਮ੝ਖ ਧੂਮਹੀਂ ॥੧੯॥

The brave fighters, who have been wounded, are roaming and it appears that the smoke is flying upwards.19.

ਬੇਲੀ ਬਿੰਦ੝ਰਮ ਛੰਦ ॥

BELI BINDRAM STANZA

ਭਟ ਝਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਪ੝ਰਕਾਰ ਹੀ ॥ ਜ੝ੱਝੇ ਅਜ੝ੱਝ ਜ੝ਝਾਰ ਹੀ ॥

The brave fighters of many types are fighting bravely with one another.

ਫਹਰੰਤ ਬੈਰਕ ਬਾਣਯੰ ॥ ਠਹਰੰਤ ਜੋਧ ਕਿਕਾਣਯੰ ॥੨੦॥

The lances and arrows are being hurled and the horses of the warriors are advancing hesitantly.20.

ਤੋਮਰ ਛੰਦ ॥

TOMAR STANZA

ਹਿਹਣਾਤ ਕੋਟ ਕਿਕਾਨ ॥ ਬਰਖੰਤ ਸੇਲ ਜ੝ਆਨ ॥

Millions of horses are neighing and the warriors are showering arrows;

ਛ੝ਟਕੰਤ ਸਾਇਕ ਸ੝ੱਧ ॥ ਮਚਿਯੋ ਅਨੂਪਮ ਜ੝ੱਧ ॥੨੧॥

The bows have slipped and fallen from the hands and in this way the terrible and unique war is being waged.21.

ਤੋਮਰ ਛੰਦ ॥

TOMAR STANZA

ਭਟ ਝਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੝ਰਕਾਰ ॥ ਜ੝ੱਝੇ ਅਨੰਤ ਸ੝ਵਾਰ ॥

Many types of warriors and innumerable horsemen are fighting with one another;

ਬਾਹੈ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾਣ ਨਿਸੰਗ ॥ ਮਚਿਯੋ ਅਪੂਰਬ ਜੰਗ ॥੨੨॥

They are striking their swords without any suspicion and in this way, a unique war is going on.22.

ਦੋਧਕ ਛੰਦ ॥

DODHAK STNAZA

ਬਾਹਿ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾਣ ਸ੝ ਬਾਣ ਭੱਟ ਗਣ ॥ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਪ੝ਨਿ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਹਾਂ ਰਣਿ ॥

After striking their swords and arrows, the brave fighters ultimately fell down during that great war.

ਘਾਇ ਲਗੈ ਇਮ ਘਾਇਲ ਝੂਲੈ ॥ ਫਾਗਨਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਬਸੰਤ ਸਫੂਲੈ ॥੨੩॥

The wounded warriors are swinging like the blossomed spring at the end of the month of Phagun.23.

ਦੋਧਕ ਛੰਦ ॥

DODHAK STANZA

ਬਾਹਿ ਕਟੀ ਭਟ ਝਕਨ ਝਸੀ ॥ ਸ੝ੰਡ ਮਨੋ ਗਜ ਰਾਜਨ ਜੈਸੀ ॥

Somewhere the chopped arms of the warriors appear like the trunks of the elephants;

ਸੋਹਤ ਝਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਪ੝ਰਕਾਰੰ ॥ ਫੂਲ ਖਿਲੇ ਜਮ੝ ਮਧਿ ਫ੝ਲਵਾਰੰ ॥੨੪॥

The brave fighters appear beautiful like the flowers blooming in the garden.24.

ਦੋਧਕ ॥

DODHAK STNAZA

ਸ੝ਰੋਣ ਰੰਗੇ ਅਰਿ ਝਕ ਅਨੇਕੰ ॥ ਫੂਲ ਰਹੇ ਜਨ੝ ਕਿੰਸ੝ਕ ਨੇਕੰ ॥

The enemies were dyed with blood like many types of blooming flowers.

ਧਾਵਤ ਘਾਵ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾਣ ਪ੝ਰਹਾਰੰ ॥ ਜਾਨਕ ਕੋਪ੝ ਪ੝ਰਤੱਛ ਦਿਖਾਰੰ ॥੨੫॥

After having been wounded with swords the brave soldiers were roaming like the manifestation of anger itself.25.

ਤੋਟਕ ਛੰਦ ॥

TOTAK STNAZA

ਜੂਝ ਗਿਰੇ ਅਰਿ ਝਕ ਅਨੇਕੰ ॥ ਘਾਇ ਲਗੈ ਬਿਸੰਭਾਰ ਬਿਸੇਖੰ ॥

Many enemies fell down fighting and Narsingh, the incarnation of Vishnu also received many wounds.

ਕਾਟਿ ਗਿਰੇ ਭਟ ਝਕਹਿ ਵਾਰੰ ॥ ਸਾਬਨ ਜਾਨ ਗਈ ਬਹਿ ਤਾਰੰ ॥੨੬॥

The chopped bits of the warriors were flowing in the stream of blood like the bubbles of foam.26.

TOTAK STANZA

ਪੂਰ ਪਰੇ ਭਝ ਚੂਰਿ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ॥ ਸ੝ਵਾਮਿ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ਨਿਬਾਹੀ ॥

The fighting soldiers, having been cut into bits, fell down, but none of them put to disrepute the dignity of their master.

ਬਾਹਿ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾਣਨ ਬਾਣ ਸ੝ ਬੀਰੰ ॥ ਅੰਤਿ ਭਜੇ ਭਯ ਮਾਨਿ ਅਧੀਰੰ ॥੨੭॥

Showing the blows of the swords and arrows, the warriors fled away ultimately in great fear.27.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥

CHAUPAI

ਤਯਾਗਿ ਚਲੇ ਰਣ ਕੌ ਸਭ ਬੀਰਾ ॥ ਲਾਜ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਗਈ ਭਝ ਅਧੀਰਾ ॥

All the warriors, abandoning their shyness and getting impatient left the battlefield and ran away.

ਹਿਰਿਨਾਛਸ ਤਬ ਆਪ ਰਿਸਾਨਾ ॥ ਬਾਂਧਿ ਚਲਯੋ ਰਣ ਕੋ ਕਰ ਗਾਨਾ ॥੨੮॥

Seeing this, Hirnayakashipu himself in great ire, moved forward for waging war.28.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥

CHAUPAI

ਭਰਿਯੋ ਰੋਸ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਸਰੂਪੰ ॥ ਆਵਤ ਦੇਖ ਸਮ੝ਹਿ ਰਣਿ ਭੂਪੰ ॥

Seeing the Emperor coming towards him, Narsingh also got infuriated.

ਨਿਜ ਘਾਵਨ ਕੋ ਰੋਸ ਨਾ ਮਾਨਾ ॥ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਸੇਵਕਹਿ ਦ੝ਖੀ ਰਿਸਾਨਾ ॥੨੯॥

He did not care for his wounds, because he was in extreme agony of seeing the suffering on his devotees.29.

ਭ੝ਜੰਗ ਪ੝ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਕੰਪਾਈ ਸਟਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰਜਯੋ ਕਰੂਰੰ ॥ ਉਡਯੋ ਹੇਰਿ ਬੀਰਾਨ ਕੇ ਮ੝ਖ ਨੂਰੰ ॥

Giving a jeck to his neck, Narsingh raised a terrible thunder and listening to his thunder, the faces of the heroes turned pale.

ਉਠਯੋ ਨਾਦਿ ਬੰਕੇ ਛ੝ਹੀ ਗੈਣਿ ਰੱਜੰ ॥ ਹਸੇ ਦੇਵ ਸਰਬੰ ਭਝ ਦੈਤ ਲੱਜੰ ॥੩੦॥

Because of that dreadful sound, the earth trembled and its dust touched the sky. All the gods began to smile and the heads of the demons bowed down with shame.30.

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਮਚਯੋ ਦ੝ੰਦ ਜ੝ੱਧੰ ਮਚੇ ਦ੝ਇ ਜ੝ਆਣੰ ॥ ਤੜੰਕਾਰ ਤੇਗੰ ਕੜਕੇ ਕਮਾਣੰ ॥

The dreadful war of both the heroic fighters got ablazed, and the clattering sound of the sword and the cracking sound of the bows was heard.

ਭਿਰਿਯੋ ਕੋਪ ਕੈ ਦਾਨਵ ਸ੝ਲਤਾਣੰ ॥ ਹੜੰ ਸ੝ਰੋਨ ਚਲੇ ਮਧੰ ਮ੝ਲਤਾਣੰ ॥੩੧॥

The demon-king fought in great fury and there was a flood of blood in the battlefield.31.

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STNAZA

ਕੜਕਾਰ ਤੇਗੰ ਤੜਕਾਰ ਤੀਰੰ ॥ ਭਝ ਟੂਕ ਟੂਕੰ ਰਣੰ ਬੀਰ ਧੀਰੰ ॥

With the clattering of swords and the crackling noise of the arrows, the mighty and the enduring heroes were chopped into bits;

ਬਜੇ ਸੰਖ ਤੂਰੰ ਸ੝ ਢੋਲੰ ਢਮੰਕੇ ॥ ਰੜੰ ਕੰਕ ਬੰਕੇ ਡਹੇ ਬੀਰ ਬੰਕੇ ॥੩੨॥

The conches, clarionets and drums resounded and the wanton soldiers, riding on the sharp horses stood firmly in the battlefield.32.

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਭਜੇ ਬਾਜਿ ਗਾਜੀ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਅਨੇਕੰ ॥ ਰਹੇ ਠਾਢਿ ਭੂਪਾਲ ਆਗੇ ਨ ਝਕੰ ॥

Many a warrior riding on the horses and elephants fled away and none of the chiefs could stand against Narsingh.

ਫਿਰਿਯੋ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੂਰੰ ਸ੝ ਕ੝ਰੂਰੰ ਕਰਾਲੰ ॥ ਕੰਪਾਈਸਟਾ ਪੂਛ ਫੇਰੀ ਬਿਸਾਲੰ ॥੩੩॥

That terrible and dreadful Narsingh moved in the battlefield and began to stir his neck and wag his tail.33.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

DOHRA

ਗਰਜਤ ਰਣਿ ਨਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੇ ਭੱਜੇ ਸੂਰ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ ਝਕ ਟਿਕਿਯੋ ਹਿਰਿਨਾਛ ਤਹ ਅਵਰ੝ ਨ ਜੋਧਾ ਝਕ ॥੩੪॥

Many warriors fled on the thunder of Narsingh and none could stand in battlefield except Hiranayakashipu.34.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥

CHAUPAI

ਮ੝ਸਟ ਜ੝ੱਧ ਜ੝ੱਟੇ ਭਟ ਦੋਊ ॥ ਤੀਸਰ ਤਾਹਿ ਨ ਪੇਖੀਅਤ ਕੋਊ ॥

The war with fists of both the warriors began and none other except those two could be seen in the battlefield.

ਭਝ ਦ੝ਹਨ ਕੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਨੈਣਾ ॥ ਦੋਖਤ ਦੋਵ ਤਮਾਸੇ ਗੈਣਾ ॥੩੫॥

The eyes of both had become red and all the groups of gods were seeing this performance form the sky.35.

ਚੌਪਈ ॥

CHAUPAI

ਅਸਟ ਦਿਵਸ ਅਸਟੇ ਨਿਸਿ ਜ੝ੱਧਾ ॥ ਕੀਨੋ ਦ੝ਹੂੰ ਭਟਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਕ੝ਰ੝ੱਧਾ ॥

For eight days and eight nights both these brave heroes, furiously, waged the dreadful war.

ਬਹ੝ਰੋ ਅਸ੝ਰ ਕਿਛ੝ਕ੝ ਮ੝ਰਝਾਨਾ ॥ ਗਿਰਿਯੋ ਭੂਮਿ ਜਨ ਬ੝ਰਿਛ ਪ੝ਰਾਨਾ ॥੩੬॥

After this, the demon-king felt weakness and fell down on the earth like an old tree.36.

CHAUPAI

ਸੀਚ ਬਾਰ ਪ੝ਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਜਗਾਯੋ ॥ ਜਗੇ ਮੂਰਛਨਾ ਪ੝ਨ ਜੀਯ ਆਯੋ ॥

Narsingh sprinkled ambrosia and woke him up from the unconscious state and he become alert after coming out of the state of unconsciousness.

ਬਹ੝ਰੋ ਭਿਰੇ ਸੂਰ ਦੋਈ ਕ੝ਰ੝ੱਧਾ ॥ ਮੰਡਿਯੋ ਬਹ੝ਰ ਆਪਿ ਮਹਿ ਜ੝ੱਧਾ ॥੩੭॥

Both the heroes began to fight again furiously and a dreadful war began again.37.

ਭ੝ਜੰਗ ਛੰਦ ॥

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZA

ਹਲਾ ਚਾਲ ਕੈ ਕੈ ਪ੝ਨਰ ਬੀਰ ਢੂਕੇ ॥ ਮਚਿਯੋ ਜ੝ੱਧ ਜਯੋ ਕਰਨ ਸੰਗੰ ਘੜੂਕੇ ॥

After challenging each other, both the heroes began to fight again, and a dreadful war ensued between them for gaining victory over the other.

ਨਖੰ ਪਾਤ ਦੋਊ ਕਰੇ ਦੈਤ ਘਾਤੰ ॥ ਮਨੋ ਗੱਜ ਜ੝ੱਟੇ ਬਨੰ ਮਸਤਿ ਮਾਤੰ ॥੩੮॥

Both of them were giving destructive blows to one another with their nails and appeared like two intoxicated elephants fighting each other in the forest.38.

ਭ੝ਜੰਗ ॥

BHUJANG PRAYAATT STANZA

ਪ੝ਨਰ ਨਾਰ ਸਿੰਘੰ ਧਰਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥ ਪ੝ਰਾਨੋ ਪਲਾਸੀ ਮਨੋ ਬਾਇ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥

Narsingh again threw Hiranayakashipu on the earth just as the old Palas tree (Butea frondosa) falls down on the earth with a gust of wind.

ਹਨਯੋ ਦੇਖ ਦ੝ਸਟੰ ਭਈ ਪ੝ਹਪ ਬਰਖੰ ॥ ਕੀਝ ਦੇਵਤਿਯੋ ਆਨਕੈ ਜੀਤ ਕਰਖੰ ॥੩੯॥

Seeing that tyrants hath died, sang many types of songs of victory.39.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥

PAADHARI STANAZA

ਕੀਨੌ ਨਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦ੝ਸਟੰ ਸੰਘਾਰ ॥ ਧਰਯੋ ਸ੝ ਬਿਸਨ ਸਪਤਮ ਵਤਾਰ ॥

Narsingh destroyed the tyrant and in this way Vishnu manifested his seventh incarnation.

ਲਿੱਨੋ ਸ੝ ਭਗਤ ਅਪਨੋ ਛਿਨਾਇ ॥ ਸਭ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਮਨ ਚਲਾਇ ॥੪੦॥

He protected his devotee and spread righteousness on the earth.40.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥

PAADHARI STANZA

ਪ੝ਰਹਲਾਦ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਨ੝ਰਿਪ ਛੱਤ੝ਰ ਫੇਰ ॥ ਦੀਨੋ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਸਭ ਇਮ ਅੰਧੇਰ ॥

The canopy was swung over the head of Prahlad and he was made a king, and in this way, the demons, who were darkness-incarnate, were destroyed.

ਸਭ ਦ੝ਸਟ ਅਰਿਸਟ ਦਿੱਨੇ ਖਪਾਇ ॥ ਪ੝ਨਿ ਲਈ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪੧॥

Destroying all the tyrants and vicious people, Narsingh merged his light in the Supreme Light.41.

ਪਾਧਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥

PAADHARI STANZA

ਸਭ ਦ੝ਸਟ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਅਭੇਖ ॥

By killing them, all the tyrants were put to shame,

ਪ੝ਨਿ ਮਿਲਯੋ ਜਾਇ ਭੀਤਰ ਅਲੇਖ ॥

And that Imperceptible Lord-God merged again in His Own Self.

ਕਬਿ ਜਥਾ ਮਤਿ ਕਥਯੋ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥

The poet, according to his own understanding, after reflection, hath uttered the above-mentioned saying,

ਇਮ ਧਰਿਯੋ ਬਿਸਨ ਸਪਤਮਵਤਾਰ ॥੪੨॥

That in this way, Vishnu manifested himself in his seventh incarnation.42.
