Gurditti
It is NOT a language but a script, an idea gifted to me by SatGurBani as SikhiWiki does not seem to be favouring GurMukhi Script, may be for Tech reasons etc.
Gurditti is nothing but a set of 35 english characters to repersent Gurmukhi Characters so that writing & reading Punjabi & SatGurBani languages becomes easier for people who do not know Punjabi or SatGurBani.
Hari Singh Ji
Both of us belong to Two different families. He is in UK & our Family is in Delhi. Maan Yog Hari Singhji is my Teacher who taught me how to swim through the ocean of FALSEHOOD. Only difference between a Sikh. & any other non-Sikh faith is that...
...A non-Sikh faith persona of a human being is socially crafted / guided / inducted by the Non-Sikh faith Society, typical examples are..
- One does not becomes a Hindu unless he goes through elaborate ritualistic ceremonies dictated by the Hindu Society.
- Similarly One does not becomes a Muslim unless rituals are approved by the society.
- A Person becomes a Sahajdhari Sikh if he climbs 3 Steps of Japuji.
- The moment S/He crosses 4th Step he has to declare/call himself a Gur Sikh. climbing further and reaching 38th Steps he becomes a flawless scholar & writer through the grace of TRUTH's(GOD's) own Gurbani language
where as a Sikh. persona is crafted not by the Sikh society but by the individual himself by climbing 38 steps of Sikhi / GurMat leading to SACH KHAND.
- Only Sikhism is a faith where clergy does not exist & each human being within the society is considered to be straight away accountable to 'GOD & GURU in 'ONE'. the only way to communicate with GOD is in GOD's language. Gurbani is TRUE {GOD's) language of HUMANITY & HOT LINE to Human beings(TRUE IDOLS of GOD) & TRUTH(GOD) as well.
Khalsa is Flawless TRUTH (GOD) incarnate i.e TRUTH (GOD in human form) reflecs nothing but TRUE light of TRUE HUMAN values to HMANITY ........Khalik Khalak Khalak my Khalik poor rahio sab thain
Here thoose who call themselves GURUs / GODs / swamies / sants / Babas /Bapus / Piaras /fake clergy & try to define a Sikh. in socio political hue & culture typical of brahamanism can no way face Guru,GOD & Khalsa...... They believe in nothing but hiding from Humanity & put up FALSE big shows staying TRUE to their frofile....best described by the ONLY Guru..in the language of TRUTHful beings
- dillon muhabbat sai sachian......
- jin man hor mukh hor sy kandy kachian....
- Sakat sang na keejiyy duron jaaiy bhaj
- Mood mudaun sakat ki mai...
- ....kkod raja kood praja kood sab sansaar...
- Asankh chor haramkhor...
- kytyyan moorakh khahi khahyyn.....
........... should we Sikhs care for these monkyies & their monkey bussiness to waste our time on writing about them...??. Let us Sikhs live in the pool of Bani which is everlasting bliss against all odds. Let us live in the Kingdom of Eternal Khalsa society of Dare Devils.
- TRUTH(GOD's) commandent is explicit on the issue
- Nabak vigsy by prvaah... (cold not care less....)
All human beings without any regard what so ever to race /cast / socio-lingual / socio political denomination etc are considered equal & honoured by the society strictly based on the extent of universal human virtues, to which the person proves Her/im self being TRUTHfull to .
The only & only ONEfaith is committment to nothing but Gurbani, the language of god & actual on ground Practice of the commandments prescribed there in supplemented by taking others along (in public view).
A sikh can not hide himself. If one does try to do that, one willingly nagates of his being a Sikh. Such shameless persons stand committed to FALSEHOOD & duality & not, I repeat not to of the universal Human values.
Any body, as long as S/He is a human being (may or may not formally belong to Sikh society), has access to each aspect of the socio religious domain formally, objectively & rationally encapsulated in Guru Granth Sahib in SatGurBani language.
once the individual crosses 4th step & relishes the bliss of Amrit vela (loosely hyped as Khandy Batty da Amrit' by ignorents & malicious FALSE Sikhs), one publically declares that one has crossed 4th step.
Khalsa society acknowledges one's claim honours, the person & formalises his having become a member of the order of the Society of TRUTHful & Dare Devil Beings who would not care less for FALSEHOOD & TERRORISM. He is publically honored through a social protocol called "Khandy Batty da Amrit".
One has to make ONE self a Khalsa through the grace of SatGurBani. "Khanada Batta..." is just a social protocol & has nothing to do with the spritual aspect of Sikhism. The protocol has nothing more than historical / traditional / and cultural significance.
- Sikh faith is diffrent from all other faiths that the GurMat Philosophy is immune to Time / language / History / culture / .
Sab jag challan haar naank Thir nahin koy....... (every persepective of every matirial /language / culture / history & 'every thing' is fast changing variable & it is worthless to draw spiritual & socio political strength from these aspects which themself are not stable.
nothing but TRUTHfull words of TRUTH's (GOD's) [[Gurbani|language alone are strength. ---Gurbani
False sikhs of course will leave nothing unturned to ensure & let gullible & ignorent masses believe that 'Peel of POTATO' & not the 'POTATO itself' is the 'TRUE POTATO'.
They have wonderfull Brahmanik ways (trial evaluated & proven since vedic times). If you do not believe just watch one of the landmark junction on TV jithy sab kuchh dogla hai.
- KHANDA nahin trishool.
- 1ikk Guru Granth Sahib nahin do.
- ....lao gall nu khunjy la dyeey 'Gurdwara' nahin 'mata da mandir'.......ih bhi daat tery datar.
the responsibility of one's TRUTHfully crossing 38 steps of Khalsa Path(Panth) is that of the individual with due socio cultural & moral support from the Khalsa Society.
"..make khalsas yaar..." Sir I am no one to make any one, with my best efforts I have not been able to make myself. My failures not withstanding, I feel proud of being Naank Ghar ka Gola & Khalsy dy dar da kookar. That is what is the commandment of (GOD)......
As per GurMat a Sikh. has to put in whatever he has to practice....
- NAAM (aap japyy )
- DAAN (avryy naam japavyy)
- ISNAAN (ishnaan karyy amrit sar navyy}
My commitment to above three functions have rewarded me with
- Gur Mery sang sada hay naaly....a True Sikh. could not care less for anything else....Nanak vigsyy by prvah.....

Your message re: data and pages, etc
Hi Great editor
My understanding is that we have a very large server with total space of over 1000Gbytes and we can add to this if required. So space is no problem. However, we need to only put items that are relevant to Sikhi and images that are outstanding. Otherwise, just show links to them.
You can create as many pages as you like - it is limitless. However, it is recommended that each article is kept to about 25-50k characters. ie about 7 to 12 screen-fulls.
Always try and get permission before you use pictures or text from other sites. If not send an email to them when you select their work so at least they are aware. Always mention their name or link on the article page. Happy editing! Hari Singh 12:53, 11 April 2007 (EDT)

Your Queries
Reply to your queries:
SikhiWiki is a free web-based encyclopaedia which as at April 15, 2007 had over 1835 articles and over 1510 images relating to Sikhism. This is a community based project in which anyone can participate. The idea was started by Ash Singh and Gurumustuk Singh, who had the foresight of perceiving the future needs of the Sikh community. Many new articles and images are added to our database daily and therefore the site is growing at a rapid rate. The Main page of our site changes every few days as important new articles replace the old material. News about Sikhi-related matters; daily Hukamnama from the famous Sikh Golden Temple and new images about Sikhi are also featured on the front page.
Sikhism can be shortened to Sikhi and is recognised as the youngest and fifth largest of the top 10 world religions. There are over 23 millions Sikhs in the world and they can be found in most parts of the globe. Due to the fact that Sikhi is very young and revolutionary faith, there is great global interest in this belief-system. However, Sikhism does not have missionaries and does not believe in the active conversation of non-Sikhs to their faith. However, due to the intense need for knowledge by newcomers and peoples of other faiths to learn about and explore this religion, it was decided that there was a requirement for a central reservoir of information about Sikhi.
Keeping this in mind, we started SikhiWiki on February 23, 2005. The idea was based on the very famous Internet based system called Wikipedia. Our hardware systems are based in Espanola, USA but our users are spread all over the earth. We have over 3130 users registered with SikhiWiki and contributions to our system are made by users daily from all the corners of the world. Everyday, many thousands of web surfers, both Sikhs and non-Sikhs use our system to gain knowledge about Sikhism. Our system provides knowledge about all aspect of Sikhism – from Sikh Art to Sikh Youth and everything in between. Articles can be found on the Sikh celebrations; on their beliefs; history of the Gurus; the articles of faith - 5Ks; the sacred scriptures, etc.
We believe that SikhiWiki is the top site in the world for information about Sikhism. Its phenomenal growth is due to the way users are allowed to make enhancements to the system. Anyone in the world who has access to the Internet can make positive contribution to our system. So if one has knowledge about Sikhi, they can without any further process begin adding to our database. Due to this simple mechanism, many new articles are added to our database everyday. Also many new contributors join our user list all the time. Some users just add a few words while others have made 1000's of changes and enhancements to our database.
I hope this helps. Many thanks, Hari Singh 00:40, 15 April 2007 (EDT)
Many thanks again
Thanks for your encouragement and I hope you are right that this site will one day have all the information that Sikhs need but I hope you are wrong that this will be the only site going so. I hope in future there are many sites giving a lot of information about Sikhi and that they are all busy doing so. The World need Sikhi to help it survive in these terrible times to enmity and hatred. As the most intelligent species on the planet, we display some evil behaviour – Only today gunmen killed 22 innocent student in a college in America – For these people, life has no meaning. How tragic is that!
Anyway, I have taken inspiration from your Template on relatives of Guru Nanak and I think I have completed the most important members. Thanks for the idea and your contributions.
About myself: What can I say? – As you know, I live in the UK; am 54 years old; working part-time, thanks to the Guru; My family is originally from Chahal Kalan near Banga now in Nawanshahr. I took Amrit in early 1970's in the UK. I have 2 kids – a daughter who is 25 and a son who is 23; both working with Guru's grace. I have been contributing to Sikhiwiki for about 2 years and I enjoy it as I feel it is a form of Sewa. I am a graduate of University of London and for about 7 years I was a teacher and then I worked with computers for 20 years. That is all I can say. If you have any questions, please ask. Traitor? if you attack – so that your secret plan don't remain unsatisfied?... That does not sound correct – please tell me what message is conveyed. Thanks Hari Singh 08:02, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Respected Editor Sahib ji,
Ok, I have looked at the article Bhai Jasbir Singh and I will prepare a new template for this in the next day on that page. Watch the space!!! Many thanks - keep up the good work. das, Hari Singh 09:02, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
- The template looks ok to me. It is properly aligned to the right. One thing is that the image should if poss go in the template something like (image = abc.jpg). Otherwise it look great. Well done, editor sahib! You saved me a lot of agro. Thanks. Hari Singh 13:31, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
Sikhnet & SikhiWiki
The editorial content of SikhiWiki is independent of Sikhnet. So Sikhnet has no control over what appears on Sikhiwiki apart from the usual input that most users and administrators can make to control abuse and violations. However, due to the expertise of Sikhnet staff on computer technology, they help the SikhiWiki team to host the software and resolve any technical problems. I hope this helps. Thanks for the suggestion
Great editor ji,
Many thanks for the suggestion. Aap ji na saahe gaal keeti hae - I think in future we need to create a system like on wikipedia for creating and improving new articles for the mainpage. At present, a lot of the article are not "up to the standard" to feature on the mainpage so improvements have to made for these articles before they can be put on the mainpage. I suggest that we put article for the mainpage at the Proposed Featured Articles in a form which can appear as an introduction. We need to create these short introductions to form the beginning of the featured articles with the correct title and links. This way we can then prepare and improve the article until it is of a suitable standard. I have included the articles that you highlighted at Proposed Featured Articles. We will now need to prepare the short form beginning for these. Hopefully this we get the procedure started for the future. Many thanks. Hari Singh 20:24, 12 June 2007 (EDT)

Great editor ji Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh
I have made a start and I will try and complete the article in the next day or so. The article looks great. Well done! But it can only be improved if Guru give us his blessing - My hand cannot do any good unless Maharaj gives direction - das has little gianta - only the Guru can guide us. Congratulation - Well done
Lucky ji
That's is very good news - Malik de bahot bakshish hoee. Vadaeeaa! - Waheguru da sukar hae. One has to sacrifice a little to achieve something in life - Look at all of our people in UK and abroad - they have had to work hard to get some recognition - but in the end - hard work will pay. So work with dedication and the rewards will be there in the end.
Everything else is fine. My brother and his family are going to India for 4 weeks on Friday - so we are making all the preparations; getting paperwork done, visas etc. They will be visiting Patna Sahib & other Gurdwaras so hopefully we will get some good pictures to put on SikhiWiki.
Hope everything is well with you and your family. Please pass my greetings to all. Kind regards - look after yourself. Gurfateh, das Hari Singh 20:15, 25 July 2007 (EDT)
duplicity/Gurdwara near me/user list/india trip/ etc
Ustaad Singh ji, Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh
Duplicity I agree that there are duplicate articles and these will have to be amended but sometimes it is better to present an issue in two different ways so that a more broader view is available. At some stage, we will have to merge some of these duplicate articles. This can be a challenging task and we should always check in future before we put a new article to make sure that the topic is not already covered and that the same article does not exist.
Local Gurdwara I have already covered my local Gurdwaras but have not taken a lot of photos. My local G/Ws are:
- Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Seven Kings, Essex - about 10 minute walk
- Karamsar, Ilford, Essex - some photos included - about 10/15 minute drive
- Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Barking - about 15/20 minute drive
- Gurdwara Dasmesh Darbar, East Ham - about 25 minute drive
- Ramgarhia Gurdwara, Upton Park, London - about 35 minute drive
The idea of taking picture is great and I will try and get that done over the next few weeks. I think it is a good idea if we all did this so that the Sangat will be better informed about these G/Ws. Lucky, when we went to Harimandar Sahib some years ago, we got some good photos which I have uploaded to SikhiWiki.
User List As this has to be done manually by counting on the User Contribution Report, I will try and do it in the next few days
India Trip With Guru's blessing, we should be visiting Punjab in November/December (not September/October) this year. I will keep you posted. It will be great to meet. We have a wedding to attend in Nawanshahr district. As soon as the tickets are booked, I will let you know of the plans. Last time we flew into Amritsar and left India via Delhi. So it will be one these airports - Delhi is more popular (& cheaper!). Sabh, Malik da hath hae.
International Airport at Mohali That's great news - It will be more convenient for people visiting Punjab as it is more central. Let us know when the plans are fixed. It would be good if you could setup IT links with western countries - web design, accounting/legal support and processing, etc. If you have any links with local firms, let me know and we will try and create a network of these firms.
Others
- How is Gurmat Life Going? Only by Guru grace one is able to tread on this pure path - life presents many hurdles. But hopefully Guru will continue to grace this slave. I must say, so far the Guru has been kind and things have gone well. Hopefully, with more contact with Sadh Sangat, more improvement will come in the coming months.
- How is 3HO Going? We don't have any real links with 3HO in the UK and I have never really got involved with this organisation although I think they are doing a wonderful job in the USA.
- I think I have seen a youtube video of this "English Bibi" - she appears to be from 3HO.
- It is very likely that the ladies in long cholas & dastar were not 3HO but Sikhs as not all "white Sikhs" belong to 3HO. Also, many people may start with 3HO, but find that Sikhi is more appropriate for them. So they may still do a little yoga but otherwise they are just Sikhs like us. Another thing - we must realise that many "white Sikhs" because they have explored various religions have a much better understanding of our religion than a common "desi Sikh" does.
Many thanks for your kind and considerate message. Hope life treats you well - Nanak naam chardikala, tayray bhana Sarbaht dah Phalah. das, Hari Singh 19:18, 31 July 2007 (EDT)

- I am sorry but it will take a little time to get the photos as I have some pressure from work - Please give me a little time and I will get these photos soon!
- Yes, I have met Bhai Gurumustuk Singh when he came to the UK over a year or so ago. He is based in the USA. His email is gmustuk@sikhnet.com. Read about Gurumustuk here
- I don't believe I know Amitar Singh and I am not familiar with that email. I know the "Mutias" ie I believe they are Amita and Rajendra, Baljeet Singhs and Kaurs. They are a nice private family dedicated to the Guru. I don't think the Mutias and Amitar are related but I may be wrong. I have spoken to Amita Singh and she is a nice person; a loving Sikh totally committed to the Guru. And I think that applies to most of the family as I also briefly spoke to her Mataji. They are totally orthodox Sikhs. We are not blood relations but related thro Sikhi. It is safe to talk to the Mutias - they are nice respectable folk.
- I am counting the user contributions, hopefully they will be done soon. You can help - I will tell you how I have done this exercise before: In the past, I have gone to the user - ie: User:Paapi. A list of regular users can be found here. Once you have the User page, then clicked on the "User Contributions" link on the bottom left panel. This gives the default contributions made by the user as per your default preference. By clicking on 500 - I get the last 500 items contributed by this user. I then check the bottom of the page to see if I have reached the date 2 March 2007. If not, I make a note of this number - ie 500. I then click on "older 500" option; this gives me the previous 500 items until I get past the date 2 March 2007 - each time I press older 500, I make a note of the running total. The last bit is getting exactly to this date and I have to count these manually. But, as each screen displays about 30 items, I have counted the number of screen to the last date when we did this exercise - which was 2 March 2007. This number that we get up to 2 March 2007 is added to the previous total to produce the total contributions.
- Detailed Procedure: I will go through this process for user Paapi - So, i would have a tally like this for Paapi. Once you get his user page -
- Press 500 gives all items from 3 Aug at top to 26 June at bottom of page - 500 items; make a note of this number!
- As 2 March has not been reached at the bottom, I press older 500 - this gives items from 26 June to 8 June - subtotal is now gone up to 1000; 500 from (1) above plus another 500
- As date 2 March still not reached so press older 500; this gives items from 8 June to 11 May; Still have not got to 2 March - subtotal is now 1500;
- Date 2 March not reached so press older 500; this gives items from 11 May to 30 April; Still have not got to 2 March - subtotal 2000;
- Date 2 March not reached so press older 500; this gives items from 30 April to 22 March; Nearly there but still have not got to 2 March - subtotal is now 2500;
- Pressing "older 500" - Bingo! We get past 2 March to 28 February - so we have reached and gone past the date 2 March. So now we count from the top until we get to 2 March; So counting from the 30 April to 2 March gives about 430 (I actually counted from bottom 28 Feb to 2 March which came to 70 & took this away from 500) subtotal 2500+430=2930;
- From my User talk page, Paapi's old total is 770 so his new total is 2930+770 = 3700
- So the note I make is:
- 3 Aug to 26 June - 500 items
- 26 June to 8 June - 500
- 8 June to 11 May - 500
- 11 May to 30 April - 500
- 30 April to 22 March - 500
- 22 March to 28 February - Required period is: 22 March to 2 March - 430
- Subtotal of above is: 2500+430=2930
- From my User talk page, Paapi's old total is 770 so his new total is 2930+770 = 3700
- If you can help to work out the user contributions, that will be great.
- I like the reference to - Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, India - remind us of the great sacrifice of our Gurus & their family and the Sikhs.
