Template for Guru Gobind Singh sakhis

Dear Dalbir ji, Sat Sri Akal

Many thanks for your message. With time many of these tags and codes with become easy.

I have looked at the Guru Gobind Singh Sakhis in the recent history- I don't think there are any admin codes but we need to "hardwire" the titles - I hope you will be able to see that from my post.

You should be able to see the bold and italic in the bar just above the edit box; also if you press "Advanced" on the bar, it will give you more options. Try these and let me know how you get on.

Also have a look at this page: Help:Format a page and the top menu at my user page User:Hari singh - I have created this as a quick help when I need reminding!

Please try and sort out the Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh sakhis; they need to be in their proper place.

I will look into starting a forum system on a related website as that is a slightly different type of undertaking. I will come back to you in due course. Warm regards, Hari Singhtalk 19:14, 13 February 2012 (CST)

Mahankosh on sikhiwiki

Hi Dalbir

Many thanks for your message.

The Mahankosh Project: This is a brilliant idea. I think the best way to start would be to create a page for each word that is available in Gurmukhi and have a set format for the meaning in English and Punjabi at the bottom of the page like at Srigranth. As the whole page would be editable, so the content of the database will improve over time and a beautiful and comprehensive project will eventually result.

Further addition would be to allow the entering of the Gurmukhi words in English alphabet as it is difficult to type Gurmukhi characters on a normal keyboard. This would link to the Gurmukhi word and hence to the translation.

The page All the words in Gurmukhi lists all the words from the Guru Granth Sahib. These words could be hyper-linked to the MahanKosh project.

Let me know what you think. Kind regards. Guru dee fateh.

More mahan kosh

Hi Dalbir

Many thanks for your message and the excellent reference to the online website.

I have seen the work you have done and it looks very good. I will change the layout of the 'Alphabet page' a little bit so that we have say 5 words per line.

I have also seen the 'word page' and again this looks very good but I will change one to two just to make some suggestions and perhaps we can leave a link to srigranth on the 'word page' so users can also read the translation at that website. I will show you a few examples.

I will also think of a way to highlight this project on the main page so that, as you say, we can have better exposure and perhaps more help with this work.

This is a great idea; please also have a look at this page Gurmukhi to English which was started to help with pronunciation. Perhaps we can add the audio at some stage!

Kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 11:32, 7 December 2013 (CST)

Hi Dalbir

I have made a start with the 'alphabet page' - please see ੳ linked

Also I have created a template for the 'word page' please see the page ਊਚਾ Select edit to see how it is used.

The template has 6 variables and the format is:

{ { m | word in Gurmukhi | Pronunciation in English | meaning in English | meaning in Punjabi | Reference/Comments | For future use } }

variables 1 2 3 4 5 6

The templates is just called 'M' - short for meaning. You can view it here Please let me know if this makes any sense?

I will do a bit more work later.
