good to see in this area that people have respect for the sacred site "of the other"

I know that for many years Gurdwaras escaped detruction when the Hindu Mandirs were being destroyed because of the presence of Murti's (early days of Aurangzeb)

The statues at Bamian come to mind, luckily ancient scrolls were found in the scholarly caves above the statues and recovered, they dated to Ashok's time, scribbed on leather 'india' ink was analized and the formula saved. Allenwalla 20:16, 13 October 2007 (EDT)

Basta Bandar

I guess that this means something like port of plenty. Does anyone have a better translation? Allenwalla 09:45, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

'Bandar' is a Persian word meaning "port" and "haven" - see [1]

'Basta' in punjabi can mean 'living' or even 'bustling' - For punjabi readers - see ਬਸਤਾ s  and then ਵਸਦਾ s

Hope that helps, Hari Singhtalk 23:40, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Bandar Means

Bandar have two meanings, Monkey or ""Bandar-Gah"" whic means Sea Port. Basta Bandar is in Gujrat, Basta may be a Gujrati Word, but it is hindi word means "Tu Basta rahe" "may you Live long".

It is Port which lives long. seems illogical, it might have some other meaning. or may be there were other ports and population of area was much comparison to other, may be due to that people say it Basta Bandar (Lucky)
