SGGS Page 1377 Full Shabad

kabeer bhaaNg maachhulee suraa paan jo jo paraanee khaaNhi.
Kabeer, those mortals who consume marijuana, fish and wine

tirath barat naym kee-ay tay sabhai rasaatal jaaNhi. ॥233॥
- no matter what pilgrimages, fasts and rituals they follow, they will all go to hell. ॥233॥

No Doubt it is connected with marijuana but have anyone read this shabad with heart? or just skimmed around

1. Sikhs does not believe in ਤੀਰਥ ਬਰਤ ਨੇਮ. All these things are already Gone to hell for Sikhs. No Tension

Sikhs may not believe in 'tirath' meaning pilgrimages but 1000's to Sikhs do go on pilgrimages - "tirath yatras" to various holy shrine; they may not believe in them but nowadays many Sikhs do go to holy shrines to seek blessings
Hindu Thought 'Barat' is fasting. Many peoples of different faiths keep fasts. The reference here is to keep fasts to attain God.
Extreme Hindu Thought 'Naym' is rituals or rules - I think all faiths have nayms
Height of Hinduness It is wrong to point to one faith here - this tuk applies to everyone who thinks that just by going on pilgrimages, or keeping fasts or following rituals, they will be blessed

2. Marijuana, Fish, Wine are so powerful then ਤੀਰਥ ਬਰਤ ਨੇਮ, that it could destroy ਤੀਰਥ ਬਰਤ ਨੇਮ. Amazing!!!

These lines are blindly quoted without understanding the underlying message. Sikhs neither believes in ਤੀਰਥ, but pundits and hindus do. Sikhs never keep ਬਰਤ(Fasts), but hindus do. Sikh never have ਨੇਮ, but hindus have. So The line suggest that who so ever take ਭਾਂਗ ਮਾਛ੝ਲੀ ਸ੝ਰਾ ਪਾਨਿ, he is not eligible for any ਤੀਰਥ ਬਰਤ ਨੇਮ or their ਤੀਰਥ ਬਰਤ ਨੇਮ goes to hell.

I think some people do not want to accept the real meaning of these tuks. There are 10s of translations done of the Guru Granth Sahib and of this Shabad in particular and every time the translation of this Shabad is more or less the same. There is no hidden meaning and you don't need and extra stealthy skills to understand the words; all the words are simple Punjabi. Kabir ji could have inserted the word Hindu if this was necessary but it is not. The Guru Granth has the word Hindu quoted many times; here it was felt not to be necessary. This tuk applies to everyone who thinks that taking marijuana, fish and wine is a recipe to achieve spiritual elevation!

Yup meanings are straight as you believe in Pilgrimages, Fasts and NIyam so it applies on you too.

All people who are taking ਕਬੀਰ ਭਾਂਗ ਮਾਛ੝ਲੀ ਸ੝ਰਾ ਪਾਨਿ keep them out of illusionary concept of ਤੀਰਥ ਬਰਤ ਨੇਮ. Once step forward from such people.

These lines should be quoted with brain open. not just by reading ਕਬੀਰ ਭਾਂਗ ਮਾਛ੝ਲੀ ਸ੝ਰਾ ਪਾਨਿ comparitively with ਰਸਾਤਲਿ. Makes any sense. Do not keep other 1430 Pages aside while quoting such lines. No Sikh organization is so blind ignoring these lines.

Don't succumb to this magic of words. Gurbani is simple and straightforward. In 1600s, it was being said to the rural and then uneducated people of Punjab. So you do not need to be a Phd student to understand these two lines:

lol at kabir and punjab. You have spoiled thinking sir

Bottom line:
Kabeer ji says: All those folks who consume marijuana, fish and wine no matter what pilgrimages, fasts and rituals they follow, they will all go to rasatal - the world below! Opposite of Heaven, call it hell or whatever you like. SO if you wish for heaven, then if you believe in Gurbani, do not take these three things! At least! Remember that these are only 2 lines out of 1000's more but this is the beginning. These are the sacred words of Kabir ji!
i also believe same All those folks who consume marijuana, fish and wine no matter what pilgrimages, fasts and rituals they follow, they will all go to rasatal - the world below! Opposite of Heaven, call it hell or whatever you like.

and my pilgrimages fasts and rituals are already in hell (and i do not consume marijuana or machuli or whateva), because i do not believe as directed by guru granth sahib itself.

My > TEERATH is NAAM only,(Teerath is inside)
> BARAT is never for god, it is for KAAM(Desires) of Maya, No promotion of Barat in gurbani, Barat is maya ton barat rakhna te ik naal jude rehna, jo sukh mei samaleyo dukh mei samaloye
> NIyam lolzz (Sass sass simrho gobind) now make niyam, gurbani says when you have to remain attach with gobind all times, and you say only attach in morning and evenning )

So you should concious you believe in these three.

Shabad connected with intoxicants

SGGS Page 15 Full Shabad

Amal galolĝ kūṛ kĝ ḝiṯĝ ḝėvaṇhĝr.
The Great Giver has given the intoxicating drug of falsehood.

Maṯī maraṇ visĝriĝ kẖusī kīṯī ḝin cẖĝr.
The people are intoxicated; they have forgotten death, and they have fun for a few days.

Sacẖ miliĝ ṯin sofīĝ rĝkẖaṇ kao ḝarvĝr. ॥1॥
Those who do not use intoxicants are true; they dwell in the Court of the Lord. ॥1॥

Again Height of foolishness by just watching word ਸੋਫੀਆ people jump like anything. They haven't read anything, even could not understand translation.

Where in whole shabad it points intoxicants? HUH at thoughts

On one side falsehood is given and people just find falsehood in only intoxicants? where are other eatables? Is drinking Sugar Cane juice brings heaven before you?

-> Gurmukhi bhasha wich "Jo Maaya de nashey ton parjhez kare us nun Sofi kehnde hann", which includes everything. Jis di surat Maya de padarthan nu chadd ke Nirankaar naal jurhi hai oh sofi hai. All other are drunkard of falshood. Have wide thought

Conclusion

I am not a drunkard but fact is that

At least one should give proper lines from guru granth sahib to address this issue. There are other lines available in guru granth sahib which address these issues directly.

If you know of all these lines then let us have them here rather than just criticising. Why don't you add those lines that in your opinion are more apt here on the discussion page. As they say: "It is easier to destroy than to build" Let's have some building!

How can i build positive with people who are one side writing article against pilgrimages and other side is embracing pilgrimages, fasts and niyam. HUH sir you are too much. Do one thing clean your site and just promote pilgrimages with heart. People who are doing pilgrimages fasts and niyams and claiming themselves sikhs are most illusionary people in the world and your thought is among one of those. So are you of same thinking that GURU were UDASIS?? like 3HO promoted recently???

Why not create articles Guru Granth Sahib on Sugarcane Juice, for cane juice addict which is also Maaya Da Nasha.
