ਮੁੰਦਾਵਣੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Munḏāvaṇī mehlā 5.
Mundaavanee, Fifth Mehl:

ਥਾਲ ਵਿਚਿ ਤਿੰਨਿ ਵਸਤੂ ਪਈਓ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੋ ॥
थाल विचि तिंनि वसतू पईओ सतु संतोखु वीचारो ॥
Thāl vicẖ ṯinn vasṯū pa­ī­o saṯ sanṯokẖ vīcẖāro.
In every one's mind, three entities have been pre ordained: Truth,...Patience and Contemplation.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਪਇਓ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਭਸੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥
अम्रित नामु ठाकुर का पइओ जिस का सभसु अधारो ॥
Amriṯ nām ṯẖākur kā pa­i­o jis kā sabẖas aḏẖāro.
These three entities make up your(God's/Human Being's) Name i. e. 'TRUTH god'. Every one is expected to draw sustinance from nothing but these three entities .

ਜੇ ਕੋ ਖਾਵੈ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਭੁੰਚੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੋ ॥
जे को खावै जे को भुंचै तिस का होइ उधारो ॥
Jė ko kẖāvai jė ko bẖuncẖai ṯis kā ho­ė uḏẖāro.
One who listens to, believes in & puts this commandment in practice, will lead the world Nay! lead the Universe.

ਏਹ ਵਸਤੁ ਤਜੀ ਨਹ ਜਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਰਖੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੋ ॥
एह वसतु तजी नह जाई नित नित रखु उरि धारो ॥
Ėh vasaṯ ṯajī nah jā­ī niṯ niṯ rakẖ ur ḏẖāro.
This thing can never be forsaken; keep this always and forever in your mind.

ਤਮ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਚਰਨ ਲਗਿ ਤਰੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਸਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
तम संसारु चरन लगि तरीऐ सभु नानक ब्रहम पसारो ॥१॥
Ŧam sansār cẖaran lag ṯarī­ai sabẖ Nānak barahm pasāro. ||1||
The dark world-ocean is crossed over, by grasping the Feet of the Lord; O Nanak, it is all the extension of God. ||1||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:

ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਤੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈਨੋ ਜੋਗੁ ਕੀਤੋਈ ॥
तेरा कीता जातो नाही मैनो जोगु कीतोई ॥
Ŧėrā kīṯā jāṯo nāhī maino jog kīṯo­ī.
I have not appreciated what You have done for me, Lord; only You can make me worthy.

ਮੈ ਨਿਰਗੁਣਿਆਰੇ ਕੋ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਆਪੇ ਤਰਸੁ ਪਇਓਈ ॥
मै निरगुणिआरे को गुणु नाही आपे तरसु पइओई ॥
Mai nirguṇi­ārė ko guṇ nāhī āpė ṯaras pa­i­o­ī.
I am unworthy - I have no worth or virtues at all. You have taken pity on me.

ਤਰਸੁ ਪਇਆ ਮਿਹਰਾਮਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥
तरसु पइआ मिहरामति होई सतिगुरु सजणु मिलिआ ॥
Ŧaras pa­i­ā mihrāmaṯ ho­ī saṯgur sajaṇ mili­ā.
You took pity on me, and blessed me with Your Mercy, and I have met the True Guru, my Friend.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਥੀਵੈ ਹਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
नानक नामु मिलै तां जीवां तनु मनु थीवै हरिआ ॥१॥
Nānak nām milai ṯāʼn jīvāʼn ṯan man thīvai hari­ā. ||1||
O Nanak, if I am blessed with the Naam, I live, and my body and mind blossom forth. ||1||

Pa­oṛī.
Pauree:

ਤਿਥੈ ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਜਿਥੈ ਕੋਇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
तिथै तू समरथु जिथै कोइ नाहि ॥
Ŧithai ṯū samrath jithai ko­ė nāhi.
Where You are, Almighty Lord, there is no one else.

ਓਥੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਖ ਅਗਨੀ ਉਦਰ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
ओथै तेरी रख अगनी उदर माहि ॥
Othai ṯėrī rakẖ agnī uḏar māhi.
There, in the fire of the mother's womb, You protected us.

ਸੁਣਿ ਕੈ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਦੂਤ ਨਾਇ ਤੇਰੈ ਛਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
सुणि कै जम के दूत नाइ तेरै छडि जाहि ॥
Suṇ kai jam kė ḏūṯ nā­ė ṯėrai cẖẖad jāhi.
Hearing Your Name, the Messenger of Death runs away.

ਭਉਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਅਸਗਾਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
भउजलु बिखमु असगाहु गुर सबदी पारि पाहि ॥
Bẖa­ojal bikẖam asgāhu gur sabḏī pār pāhi.
The terrifying, treacherous, impassible world-ocean is crossed over, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਲਗੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੇਇ ਖਾਹਿ ॥
जिन कउ लगी पिआस अम्रितु सेइ खाहि ॥
Jin ka­o lagī pi­ās amriṯ sė­ė kẖāhi.
Those who feel thirst for You, take in Your Ambrosial Nectar.

ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਏਹੋ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗਾਹਿ ॥
कलि महि एहो पुंनु गुण गोविंद गाहि ॥
Kal meh ėho punn guṇ govinḏ gāhi.
This is the only act of goodness in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, to sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.

ਸਭਸੈ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ਸਾਹਿ ਸਾਹਿ ॥
सभसै नो किरपालु सम्हाले साहि साहि ॥
Sabẖsai no kirpāl samĥālė sāhi sāhi.
He is Merciful to all; He sustains us with each and every breath.

ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਜਿ ਆਵੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਹਿ ॥੯॥
बिरथा कोइ न जाइ जि आवै तुधु आहि ॥९॥
Birthā ko­ė na jā­ė je āvai ṯuḏẖ āhi. ||9||
Those who come to You with love and faith are never turned away empty-handed. ||9||

Shalok, Fifth Mehl:

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਰਾਧਣਾ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਉ ॥
अंतरि गुरु आराधणा जिहवा जपि गुर नाउ ॥
Anṯar gur ārāḏẖ­ṇā jihvā jap gur nā­o.
Deep within yourself, worship the Guru in adoration, and with your tongue, chant the Guru's Name.

ਨੇਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੇਖਣਾ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਨਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਉ ॥
नेत्री सतिगुरु पेखणा स्रवणी सुनणा गुर नाउ ॥
Nėṯrī saṯgur pėkẖ­ṇā sarvaṇī sunṇā gur nā­o.
Let your eyes behold the True Guru, and let your ears hear the Guru's Name.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਠਾਉ ॥
सतिगुर सेती रतिआ दरगह पाईऐ ठाउ ॥
Saṯgur sėṯī raṯi­ā ḏargeh pā­ī­ai ṯẖā­o.
Attuned to the True Guru, you shall receive a place of honor in the Court of the Lord.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਏਹ ਵਥੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
कहु नानक किरपा करे जिस नो एह वथु देइ ॥
Kaho Nānak kirpā karė jis no ėh vath ḏė­ė.
Says Nanak, this treasure is bestowed on those who are blessed with His Mercy.

ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਉਤਮ ਕਾਢੀਅਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥੧॥
जग महि उतम काढीअहि विरले केई केइ ॥१॥
Jag meh uṯam kādẖī­ah virlė kė­ī kė­ė. ||1||
In the midst of the world, they are known as the most pious - they are rare indeed. ||1||

ਮਃ ੫ ॥
मः ५ ॥
Mehlā 5.
Fifth Mehl:

ਰਖੇ ਰਖਣਹਾਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਬਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥
रखे रखणहारि आपि उबारिअनु ॥
Rakẖė rakẖaṇhār āp ubāri­an.
O Savior Lord, save us and take us across.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥
गुर की पैरी पाइ काज सवारिअनु ॥
Gur kī pairī pā­ė kāj savāri­an.
Falling at the feet of the Guru, our works are embellished with perfection.

ਹੋਆ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥
होआ आपि दइआलु मनहु न विसारिअनु ॥
Ho­ā āp ḏa­i­āl manhu na visāri­an.
You have become kind, merciful and compassionate; we do not forget You from our minds.

ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥
साध जना कै संगि भवजलु तारिअनु ॥
Sāḏẖ janā kai sang bẖavjal ṯāri­an.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, we are carried across the terrifying world-ocean.

ਸਾਕਤ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਅਨੁ ॥
साकत निंदक दुसट खिन माहि बिदारिअनु ॥
Sākaṯ ninḏak ḏusat kẖin māhi biḏāri­an.
In an instant, You have destroyed the faithless cynics and slanderous enemies.

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
तिसु साहिब की टेक नानक मनै माहि ॥
Ŧis sāhib kī tėk Nānak manai māhi.
That Lord and Master is my Anchor and Support; O Nanak, hold firm in your mind.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
जिसु सिमरत सुखु होइ सगले दूख जाहि ॥२॥
Jis simraṯ sukẖ ho­ė saglė ḏūkẖ jāhi. ||2||
Remembering Him in meditation, happiness comes, and all sorrows and pains simply vanish. ||2||
