Nagrota

Nagrota 8 km from Jammu city is located on the NH1, the National Highway #1 in India, when one travels from Jammu northwards towards Udhampur, further on towards Srinagar. It lies in Jammu district. Nagrota is also a cantonment. The NH1 passes right through Nagrota, or it can be said that the whole of Nagrota lies on either side of the highway - with a few by lanes. Though Nagrota does not have a railway station, oddly it has a Railway Station Code assigned - NGRT.

Nagrota is the home of 16 Corps, the largest Corps in the Indian Army. The corps is tasked with counter insurgency operations in the Jammu and Udhampur area. A Military Police checkpost is located at the entry point. Army personnel are required to enter their particulars - in a register at the checkpoint - upon their entry or passage through Nagrota cantonment.

Gurdwara Singh Sabha,Nagrota is the only Gurdwara Sahib in the town.
