Jay Singh-Sohal


Jay (or Jagjeet) Singh-Sohal is a British television journalist, filmmaker and writer.

Born in Birmingham in 1983, Jay attended Handsworth Grammar School, Brunel University, State University of New York at Brockport, and City University.

Jay is a qualified Broadcast Journalist who has worked at major broadcasters including the BBC and ITV.


He is the creator of the "Turbanology" brand of awareness programmes designed to inform and educate about the Sikh Turban. These include the 2009 documentary "Turbanology: After 7/7" and the 2011 exhibition "Turbanology: Sikhs Unwrapped" and accompanying guidebook.

Jay makes films under his "Dot Hyphen Productions" label which he set up in 2009. Titles to date include the Sikhs@War series, short films about the Sikh contribution during the World Wars which are available for free use via the website www.sikhsatwar.info.


He joined Sky News as Producer in 2011 and works on international rolling breaking news stories.

Jay also serves his country as a reservist in the British Territorial Army.
