Gurudwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib

Gurdwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib is dedicated to the memory of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s visit in the course of his travels in malva parts of Punjab.

History

When Guruji was camping at Bhikhi, he came to know about an old Sikh, Bhai Mugluji of Gandhuan, who had received instruction from Guru Hargobind Ji. Bhai Muglu Ji had shown his prowess in the battle of Mehraj in the year 1634 Guru Hargobind Ji pleased with his devotion and velour had invited him to ask for a boon. Bhai Muglu Ji wished that before he breathed his last he should be able to have a glimpse of Guruji. Guru ji told him that this would not be possible, as he would outlive him, however he might still see the Guru. After many years Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was in that area. It is said that Guruji suddenly went into meditation and saw Bhai Muglu ji. At that time Bhai Muglu Ji lay on his death bed and desired to see Guru ji. Riding through Dhaleo and Kanakwal, Guruji at once reached the house of Muglu ji at village Gandhuan. Bhai Muglu ji who lay gasping for breath was overwhelmed to see Guru ji. He passed away peacefully in Guruji’s presence. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji then performed the rites of cremation before returning to Bhikhi. The villagers, to commemorate this historic event of Muglu Ji’s devotion and Guruji’s response, raised a memorial on the site where Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Nauvin now stands.
