Gurpreet Ghuggi
Gurpreet Singh Waraich popularly known as "Ghuggi" (19.07.71 - ) is a well established Punjabi Comedian. Gurpreet Singh belongs to village Khokhar Faujian of Distt. Gurdaspur but he was born and bought up in Jalandhar. Gurpreet sought admission in Doaba College Jalandhar in B.A. Part I in year 1990 and enrolled in Guru Nanak Dev University. His dominant artistic inclination right from childhood took charge in the very first year in Guru Nanak Dev Youth Festival where he was judged best actor in Darma and best Mono actor and likewise right upto 1993 when he was judged best actor of G.N.D.U. and all india inter University Youth Festival. With his help G.N.D.U. was able to grab the "Theatre' Trophy in the all India inter University Youth Festival Competition held at Kamraj University Madurai (Tamilnadu) in year 1991. During his studies he has been a student member of youth welfare Advisory committee of G.N.D.U. Amritsar.
Outside the university he worked with the renowned theatre personalities like Shri Gursharan Singh and Shri Sardarjeet Bawa. He organized a theater group named Rehnuma Club with association of up growing Youth artist.
Simultaneously Gurpreet worked on Television as well. He got his popular name, Ghuggi from famous Punjabi Variety show. “Ronak Mela” under the partnership of Balwinder Bicky alias Chacha Ronki Ram. And His Character as “GHUGGI” became so popular that he is known as “GHUGGI” to the public instead of by his name Gurpreet. He has become a leading comedian of Punjab. His work in serials like: Daldal, Naseehat, Udeek, Lori, Rishtey, Champion and Parchavein. His Character as ‘Bulara’ in the famous T.V. serial Parchavein was highly appreciated and applauded.
His. T.V. show “GHUGGI EXPRESS” on Alpha T.V. Punjabi and “Ghuggi on Line” on MH1 is running successfully.
Apart from his acting he has been a popular anchor of T.V. Variety shows and live shows on Jalandhar Doordarshan, E.T.C Punjabi, Alfa T.V. Punjabi, Balle-Balle Channel and other Channels.
He has seven Audio Cassettes, which have been released by T-Series and Tips. In these cassettes where Gurpreet has offered to make people free from stress and worries, he also does satires on social evil’s an ir-responsible establishments as well.
He has rendered his services to All India Radio as an announcer and as an actor.
He has performed in so many countries like England, USA, Italy, France, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Holland, Australia, Hong Kong, Dubai, Thailand and earned great fame.
He feels honored to have performed in the, so far largest budget Punjabi Super Hit Films, “JEE AAYAN NU”, “ASA NU MAAN WATNA DA” Directed by Manmohan Singh under T-Series and wild Rose Production.
Finally he feels honored to be associated with a university of great repute i.e. Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar and he feels indebted to the whole of university officials and professors who have helped him to shape up his talent.
