Dasam Granth on Vishnu Worship

Quotes from Dasam Granth, Sri Mukhvak P: 10

Lord Vishnu is considered as Supreme Deity and one of trinity in Hindu Religion.

In Dasam Granth, Vishnu is not considered as Supreme. Guru Gobind Singh mentioned his name explicitly citing: "ਮੈ ਨ ਗਨੇਸ਼ਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਮਨਾਊਂ ॥ ਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਬਿਸ਼ਨ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨਹ ਧਿਆਊਂ ॥ (I do not adore Ganesha, Vishnu and Krishna)".

Guru Gobind Singh had written a composition called Ath Bishan Avtar Kathnang for purpose of reference to Indian Mythical history and is not considered as Eulogy of Vishnu.

Following are excerpts from Dasam Granth on denying Vishnu Worship:

ਜਿਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਸੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਹੁਇ ਬਿਸਨ ਆਏ ॥ ਤਿਤਿਓ ਕਾਲ ਖਾਪਿਓ ਨ ਤੇ ਕਾਲ ਘਾਏ ॥੨੮॥
जिते राम से क्रिसन हुइ बिसन आए ॥ तितिओ काल खापिओ न ते काल घाए ॥२८॥
All the incarnations of Vishnu like Rama and Krishan were destroyed by KAL, but they could not destroy him. 28.(Bachitar Natak)

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
ब्रहमा बिसन अंतु नही पाइओ ॥
Brahma and Vishnu Could not know His end. (Akaal Ustati)

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਹੇਸਰ ਬਿਸਨ ਸਚੀਪਿਤ ਅੰਤ ਫਸੇ ਜਮ ਫਾਸਿ ਪਰੈਂਗੇ ॥
ब्रहम महेसर बिसन सचीपित अंत फसे जम फासि परैंगे ॥
Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu and Consort of Sachi (Indra) would ultimately fall in the noose of death. (Tav Prasad Savaiyey)

ਪਾਰ ਨ ਪਾਇ ਸਕੈ ਪਦਮਾਪਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਅਭੇਦ ਉਚਾਰੈ ॥
पार न पाइ सकै पदमापति बेद कतेब अभेद उचारै ॥
Even Vishnu cannot know His end and the Vedas and Katebs (Semitic Scriptures) call Him Indiscriminate. (Tav Prasad Saviyey - Dinan Pritpal)

ਮਹਾਦੇਵ ਅਚੁੱਤ ਕਹਾਯੋ ॥ ਬਿਸਨ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੋ ਠਹਿਰਾਯੋ ॥ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਆਪ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬਖਾਨਾ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੮॥
महादेव अचु्त कहायो ॥ बिसन आप ही को ठहिरायो ॥ ब्रहमा आप पारब्रहम बखाना ॥ प्रभ को प्रभू न किनहूं जाना ॥८॥
Mahadeo (Shiva) was called Achyuta (blotless), Vishnu considered himself the Supreme. Brahma called himself Para Brahman, none could comprehend the Lord.8.(Bachitar Natak)

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸ ਸਾਜਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ॥
ब्रहमा बिसनु महेस साजि कुदरति दा खेलु रचाइ बणाइआ ॥
The Lord created Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and then created the play of Nature. (Chandi Ki Vaar)

ਮੈ ਨ ਗਨੇਸ਼ਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਮਨਾਊਂ ॥ ਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਬਿਸ਼ਨ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨਹ ਧਿਆਊਂ ॥
मै न गनेशहि प्रिथम मनाऊं ॥ किशन बिशन कबहूं नह धिआऊं ॥
I do not adore Ganesha in the beginning and also do not mediatate on Krishna and Vishnu; (Krishna Avtar)

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿਕ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਪਚਹਾਰੇ ॥ ਬਿਸਨ ਮਹੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਕਉਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ॥ ਚੰਦ ਸੂਰ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰੇ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਜਨੀਯਤ ਹੈ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ ॥੧੪॥
ब्रहमादिक सभ ही पचहारे ॥ बिसन महेस्वर कउन बिचारे ॥ चंद सूर जिनि करे बिचारा ॥ ता ते जनीयत है करतारा ॥१४॥
Brahma and others have got tired in knowing Thy end; Who are the helpless gods Vishnu and Shiva? The sun and moon also meditate on Thee; Therefore Thou art known as the Creator.14.
