ਬੀਰਾ ਬੀਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਬੀਰ ਭਝ ਬੈਰਾਇ ॥
बीरा बीरा करि रही बीर भझ बैराइ ॥
Bīrĝ bīrĝ kar rahī bīr bẖaė bairĝė.
She calls out, "Brother, O brother - stay, O brother!" But he becomes a stranger.

ਬੀਰ ਚਲੇ ਘਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਬਹਿਣ ਬਿਰਹਿ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
बीर चले घरि आपणै बहिण बिरहि जलि जाइ ॥
Bīr cẖalė gẖar ĝpṇai bahiṇ bireh jal jĝė.
Her brother departs for his own home, and his sister burns with the pain of separation.

ਬਾਬ੝ਲ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਬੇਟੜੀ ਬਾਲੀ ਬਾਲੈ ਨੇਹਿ ॥
बाबढ़ल कै घरि बेटड़ी बाली बालै नेहि ॥
Bĝbul kai gẖar bėtṛī bĝlī bĝlai nėhi.
In this world, her father's home, the daughter, the innocent soul bride, loves her Young Husband Lord.

ਜੇ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਵਰ੝ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ੝ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੇਹਿ ॥
जे लोड़हि वरढ़ कामणी सतिगढ़रढ़ सेवहि तेहि ॥
Jė loṛeh var kĝmṇī saṯgur sėveh ṯėhi.
If you long for your Husband Lord, O soul bride, then serve the True Guru with love.

ਬਿਰਲੋ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬੂਝਣਉ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ੝ ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲੇਇ ॥
बिरलो गिआनी बूझणउ सतिगढ़रढ़ साचि मिलेइ ॥
Birlo giĝnī būjẖṇao saṯgur sĝcẖ milėė.
How rare are the spiritually wise, who meet the True Guru, and truly understand.

ਠਾਕ੝ਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਵਡਾਈਆ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥
ठाकढ़र हाथि वडाईआ जै भावै तै देइ ॥
Ŧẖĝkur hĝth vadĝīĝ jai bẖĝvai ṯai ḝėė.
All glorious greatness rests in the Lord and Master's Hands. He grants them, when He is pleased.

ਬਾਣੀ ਬਿਰਲਉ ਬੀਚਾਰਸੀ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
बाणी बिरलउ बीचारसी जे को गढ़रमढ़खि होइ ॥
Baṇī birlao bīcẖĝrsī jė ko gurmukẖ hoė.
How rare are those who contemplate the Word of the Guru's Bani; they become Gurmukh.

ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਹਾ ਪ੝ਰਖ ਕੀ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੪੦॥
इह बाणी महा पढ़रख की निज घरि वासा होइ ॥४०॥
Ih baṇī mahĝ purakẖ kī nij gẖar vĝsĝ hoė. ||40||
This is the Bani of the Supreme Being; through it, one dwells within the home of his inner being. ||40||

ਭਨਿ ਭਨਿ ਘੜੀਝ ਘੜਿ ਘੜਿ ਭਜੈ ਢਾਹਿ ਉਸਾਰੈ ਉਸਰੇ ਢਾਹੈ ॥
भनि भनि घड़ीझ घड़ि घड़ि भजै ढाहि उसारै उसरे ढाहै ॥
Bẖan bẖan gẖaṛīai gẖaṛ gẖaṛ bẖajai dẖĝhi usĝrai usrė dẖĝhai.
Shattering and breaking apart, He creates and re-creates; creating, He shatters again. He builds up what He has demolished, and demolishes what He has built.

ਸਰ ਭਰਿ ਸੋਖੈ ਭੀ ਭਰਿ ਪੋਖੈ ਸਮਰਥ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੈ ॥
सर भरि सोखै भी भरि पोखै समरथ वेपरवाहै ॥
Sar bẖar sokẖai bẖī bẖar pokẖai samrath vėparvĝhai.
He dries up the pools which are full, and fills the dried tanks again. He is all-powerful and independent.

ਭਰਮਿ ਭ੝ਲਾਨੇ ਭਝ ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ਵਿਣ੝ ਭਾਗਾ ਕਿਆ ਪਾਈਝ ॥
भरमि भढ़लाने भझ दिवाने विणढ़ भागा किआ पाईझ ॥
Bẖaram bẖulĝnė bẖaė ḝivĝnė viṇ bẖĝgĝ kiĝ pĝīai.
Deluded by doubt, they have gone insane; without destiny, what do they obtain?

ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਗਿਆਨ੝ ਡੋਰੀ ਪ੝ਰਭਿ ਪਕੜੀ ਜਿਨ ਖਿੰਚੈ ਤਿਨ ਜਾਈਝ ॥
गढ़रमढ़खि गिआनढ़ डोरी पढ़रभि पकड़ी जिन खिंचै तिन जाईझ ॥
Gurmukẖ giĝn dorī parabẖ pakṛī jin kẖincẖai ṯin jĝīai.
The Gurmukhs know that God holds the string; wherever He pulls it, they must go.

ਹਰਿ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਬਹ੝ੜਿ ਨ ਪਛੋਤਾਈਝ ॥
हरि गढ़ण गाइ सदा रंगि राते बहढ़ड़ि न पछोताईझ ॥
Har guṇ gĝė saḝĝ rang rĝṯė bahuṛ na pacẖẖoṯĝīai.
Those who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, are forever imbued with His Love; they never again feel regret.

ਭਭੈ ਭਾਲਹਿ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਤਾ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਈਝ ॥
भभै भालहि गढ़रमढ़खि बूझहि ता निज घरि वासा पाईझ ॥
Bẖabẖai bẖĝleh gurmukẖ būjẖeh ṯĝ nij gẖar vĝsĝ pĝīai.
Bhabha: If someone seeks, and then becomes Gurmukh, then he comes to dwell in the home of his own heart.

ਭਭੈ ਭਉਜਲ੝ ਮਾਰਗ੝ ਵਿਖੜਾ ਆਸ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ਤਰੀਝ ॥
भभै भउजलढ़ मारगढ़ विखड़ा आस निरासा तरीझ ॥
Bẖabẖai bẖaojal mĝrag vikẖṛĝ ĝs nirĝsĝ ṯarīai.
Bhabha: The way of the terrifying world-ocean is treacherous. Remain free of hope, in the midst of hope, and you shall cross over.

ਗ੝ਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਆਪੋ ਚੀਨ੝ਹ੝ਹੈ ਜੀਵਤਿਆ ਇਵ ਮਰੀਝ ॥੪੧॥
गढ़र परसादी आपो चीनढ़है जीवतिआ इव मरीझ ॥४१॥
Gur parsĝdī ĝpo cẖīnĥai jīvṯiĝ iv marīai. ||41||
By Guru's Grace, one comes to understand himself; in this way, he remains dead while yet alive. ||41||

ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਮ੝ਝ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਸਾਥਿ ॥
माइआ माइआ करि मढ़झ माइआ किसै न साथि ॥
Mĝiĝ mĝiĝ kar muė mĝiĝ kisai na sĝth.
Crying out for the wealth and riches of Maya, they die; but Maya does not go along with them.

ਹੰਸ੝ ਚਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਡ੝ਮਣੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਭੂਲੀ ਆਥਿ ॥
हंसढ़ चलै उठि डढ़मणो माइआ भूली आथि ॥
Hans cẖalai uṯẖ dumṇo mĝiĝ bẖūlī ĝth.
The soul-swan arises and departs, sad and depressed, leaving its wealth behind.

ਮਨ੝ ਝੂਠਾ ਜਮਿ ਜੋਹਿਆ ਅਵਗ੝ਣ ਚਲਹਿ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
मनढ़ झूठा जमि जोहिआ अवगढ़ण चलहि नालि ॥
Man jẖūṯẖĝ jam johiĝ avguṇ cẖaleh nĝl.
The false mind is hunted by the Messenger of Death; it carries its faults along when it goes.

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਨ੝ ਉਲਟੋ ਮਰੈ ਜੇ ਗ੝ਣ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
मन महि मनढ़ उलटो मरै जे गढ़ण होवहि नालि ॥
Man meh man ulto marai jė guṇ hoveh nĝl.
The mind turns inward, and merges with mind, when it is with virtue.

ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਮ੝ਝ ਵਿਣ੝ ਨਾਵੈ ਦ੝ਖ੝ ਭਾਲਿ ॥
मेरी मेरी करि मढ़झ विणढ़ नावै दढ़खढ़ भालि ॥
Mėrī mėrī kar muė viṇ nĝvai ḝukẖ bẖĝl.
Crying out, "Mine, mine!", they have died, but without the Name, they find only pain.

ਗੜ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਲਾ ਕਹਾ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਜੀ ਦੀਬਾਣ੝ ॥
गड़ मंदर महला कहा जिउ बाजी दीबाणढ़ ॥
Gaṛ manḝar mehlĝ kahĝ jio bĝjī ḝībĝṇ.
So where are their forts, mansions, palaces and courts? They are like a short story.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਣ੝ ਝੂਠਾ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣ੝ ॥
नानक सचे नाम विणढ़ झूठा आवण जाणढ़ ॥
Nĝnak sacẖė nĝm viṇ jẖūṯẖĝ ĝvaṇ jĝṇ.
O Nanak, without the True Name, the false just come and go.

ਆਪੇ ਚਤ੝ਰ੝ ਸਰੂਪ੝ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣ੝ ਸ੝ਜਾਣ੝ ॥੪੨॥
आपे चतढ़रढ़ सरूपढ़ है आपे जाणढ़ सढ़जाणढ़ ॥४२॥
Āpė cẖaṯur sarūp hai ĝpė jĝṇ sujĝṇ. ||42||
He Himself is clever and so very beautiful; He Himself is wise and all-knowing. ||42||
