Scholars for the study of Sikh history, theology, philosophy etc, can really be divided into categories of mystical scholars of the past as contemporaries of the Ten Gurus, or more current and recent scholars. When it comes to more contemporary "scholars" of the times of the Gurus, we can think of the likes of Bhai Gurdas, and Bhai Nand Lal for example.
Many have studied the Sikhs, both Sikhs and non-Sikhs alike. The history of Sikhs has been studied, and even the actual scripture of the Sikh people, as in the Gurbani contained in the Guru Granth Sahib and other important Sikh scripture and writing. The Singh Sabha movement itself also produced many accomplished Sikh scholars. There continues to be much research on Sikh scripture, history, etc, to this day, and we continue to produce even more scholars.
